- There's a history now between myself and Will Ramos, after all the collabs, throat camera work, and harsh vocal course we released in 2023. But what about that first conversation we had? Who inspired Will to be a vocalist?

this interview was the beginning of a beautiful friendship
They've actually been friends for a long time she's done a lot of videos with him
@@Ornstein_Smough_right. This is a clip from the first one
I would like to hear Elizabeth and Will singing Phantom Of The Opera. They are amazing singers ❤❤🙏🙏🎶🎶
Oh my goodness, YES!!!😍🖤🌹
I want to hear Elizabeth start screaming in a song as back-up vocals for Will Ramos!
can we up this comment? haha Yes!!!
Saw these guys open for Mastodon and Gojira a few months ago, knew about them but didnt know what to expect. They were absolutely phenomenal and Will sounds unreal live, one of the best live vocal performances I'd ever heard
I saw them on that tour too! MASSIVE kudos to them, because they played an outdoor show when it was literally >115 F degrees with awful humidity, AND Will was recovering from food poisoning, and they still absolutely killed it
Went to a show from the same tour. Lorna Shore is a little further down the extreme tech death genre spectrum than I usually like but they had a great set and I was impressed. I enjoyed it. I still don't listen to their music in my free time, but they're great musicians.
I saw that tour as well, it was in a big outdoor venue and Will's voice still sounded fantastic
Same. I almost didn't go until I heard Lorna Shore was opening since I'd been listening them for a few months but knew very little about Gojira and Mastadon. I had high expectations of LS and they exceeded every one of them! I honestly felt like they sounded even better live. Mastadon was great and Gojira hit me like a freight train.
They tour like non stop and he’s a machine.
Zero toxicity between those two and pure joy for music and learning is what I need in 2024
I would love, LOVE if Lorna Shore did a Collab with you in the future, that would have been sick!! ❤
Yaaaaassssss
I can hear tons of opportunities for some opera in some of their songs.
I think most times metal bands use keyboards, it can be switched out for some operatic sounds or singing…or at least added.
Throwback to where the friendship began! Love to see it! I watched this the very day it came out because I was already a huge supporter of Will. It's awesome to revisit this story of how he was awestruck by the command a vocalist could have over their audience and how he wanted to create that same impact. He's gone far above that now - achieving and exceeding that dream. So many of us are in literal tears at his shows, I've never been so overwhelmed with feeling by a vocalist as I am when this man sings. Will is an inspiration, not only for his incredible vocal skill with those insane harsh beauties and the captivating cleans, but also in the way he treats people with sincere kindness. He truly is deserving of all the praise. And if you haven't heard him sing live you are missing out on the best experience of your life! Go see Lorna Shore next time they tour!!
I adore these two
Both so enthusiastic and full of joy
Amazing chemistry together! More collabs between you two, please!
You two are so enjoyable to watch. Such a comfortable and engaging conversation.
I would watch a web series of just you two interacting, having conversations, kicking back, and relaxing.
In short: I want more!
Have a good one.
I found you because I love the The HU and trained to be an opera singer and also learnt Khöömi too. Thanks to your channel I discovered Will Ramos & Lorna Shore and got to see them in December 23 - one of the best gigs I have ever been to.
My son was there too if you mean in Sayreville NJ. 🤘 He said it was amazing.
Love these two! So much joy & good energy!
There is no better colab on RUclips or anywhere else for that matter than these two. It's very refreshing to see two absolutely amazing individuals get together, ego free, and just mesh together greatness. Please keep it going!!
Lorna Shore music is so crazy opera inspired. It’s like alternative reality dark and brutal opera.
It’s nice seeing how much these guys genuinely appreciate each other’s work ☺️
We need a marathon of you reacting to all of his one takes!!!!!
Blows me away on the schedule of back to back shows Will can do. Each show he gives 1000%. I am a huge fan of him and his band. 🤘🤘❤️
It's interesting that Will talks about seeing an opera singer/vocal coach to help improve his techniques, because years ago I saw a story on the Australian version of 60 Minutes about a vocal coach who was teaching metal singers how to scream safely without doing damage to their precious instrument... I can't for the life of me remember who she was,,,ugggghhhh!! if I find out, I'll come back and edit it in...😏
🙃🐨🇦🇺
Edit: ok, I just looked up the lady, her name was Elizabeth Sabine. She was born in 1923 in London, she grew up in Australia and moved to Los Angeles in 1974. Became friends with Robert Mazzarella, opera tenor and singing coach. At the end of the 70s discovered her ability to refine vocal techniques for hard rock and heavy metal vocalists. She facilitated faster mastery of skills compared to other methods. In 1981 Lee Strasberg got Sabine in to work with his acting and singing students to help strengthen their voices. Over the years she worked with people like Axl Rose - Guns - N - Roses, Dave Mustaine - Megadeth, B-Real, Ron Keel - Keel, Colin Hay - Men At Work, to name but a few. In 2003 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the L.A. Music Awards. Elizabeth Sabine was affectionately known as "Heavy Metal Grandma". She passed away at the age of 93 in LA.
I didn’t know this, but Will Ramos is in the video game soundtrack to Metal: HELLSINGER. Really cool if you ask me!
This makes a lot of sense. I also learned from playing guitar that some of the most powerful metal guitarists have classical training. It just gives you a much wider pallette to draw from
What a great story to get from Will. Good interview technique.
In the beginning……
back in 1955…..
@@caprise-music6722 my biological/adopted mother moved into her adoptive parents; custom-built home.
Martys parents went to a high school dance, and all that jive
@@MarkoLaurentOnline Back to the Future
Imagine we learn that will’s skills come from the fact that one of his parents was a literal angel. So he is a seraphim
This is such a cute (and quite unusual) friendship 💕
5:04 not Elizabeth fangirling over Will's vocals for the 3367171 time 😅💗 you guys DEFINITELY need a duet
Will's vocal range is incredible, and the friendship and knowledge-sharing between the two of these people is utterly fantastic. Is nobody going to mention OATHBRINGER in the background?
Hell yeah, more Will and Elizabeth!
oh wait, it's old footage. Ah still gonna watch it.
Cannot wait to get home to see this- this is precisely what I'd want to ask any artist first. What inspired you to take this path? Love it! Thanks, Elizabeth! (& Will)
Let's Go Elizabeth!!! And Let's Go Will!!! 💯💪🏽💯
the start of a beautiful friendship. so adorable!
Gah! This had been the most wholesome beginning to the sweetest friendship! The cuteness was so distracting but made the interview magical.
I really think you should consider listening to and interviewing Iron Mouse (the Vtuber) She was in training to sing opera/musical theater when an illness (CVID) forced her to leave school and basically self isolate for the past few years.
She has spent years now rebuilding her voice.
Why would anyone self isolate for that length of time?
@@stevenmeyer9674immunocompromise for one. The kind of people where if they get it, it will literally kill them.
If you watch Down with the Sickness official video you can see David put one foot up on the speakers on the front of the stage to make that 90 degree with his leg.
Hi, Elizabeth! My son is a Lorna Shore fan and I love sharing these videos with him. It's a fun mother-son boding experience! When you're ready to explore grunge again, please do some Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan has such a unique and non-traditional sound. I think you'd enjoy "Disarm." Thanks for doing what you do!!!
I wish that more metal heads listen to opera. So damn amazing music. Especially when you are Lorna Shore and extreme death core music.
Any chance you'll do Savatage one day? Specifically something sang by Jon Oliva. Because he has such a distinct voice with this amazing effortless raspiness to it you don't hear really anywhere else.
I love all your videos with will he’s the reason I found your channel please keep making more videos with him
Holy crap I hope Will incorporates the tea kettle scream into Lorna Shore. If it'll sound anything like the vocalist from Beyond Deviation, it will be incredible.
Lorna Shore amazing! One more fan here!
This was the interview that made me fall in love.
Pleaseee make new Willizabeth content, miss you guys so much, at this point I don't even care what the content is about anymore like it could be about food or just random vlogs I would watch the shit out of them
I love metal and i see the connection between opera and metal
Ridi pagliaccio or Vesti la giubba, aria from Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo
There we go! Bringing the answers we really needed!
One of the most famous performances by Enrico Caruso playing Canio the clown, who lost his loved one in real life, but still he has to wear his costume, powder the face and get the stage, because people attending at theater needs the laughs they paid for.
It's a Show Must Go On ante litteram.
I had already made the connection between opera and Heavy metal 🤘
So many rock and metal lead singers when in concert will put their foot up on a monitor or something. It's interesting to understand why and how that helps their singing. 🤘😎
Hmmm, #spoiledbyafuturecollaboperamania: Elizabeth and Will, Phantom of the Opera! Pleez! 🤯🎶💥
The coolest and easiest person to talk to!! Will is so cool!!
My friend just showed me the video of Will getting the scope in his nose and I Throatbass, I'm a Dubstep beatboxer so when he was Throat singing, it blew my mind and I started crying because I don't know what the heck i do when i am but This was AMAZING! "ReepsOne" Is my favorite beatboxer and ...... Idk THIS STUFF IS SOOOOOO AMAZING AND I REALLY MIGHT START SCREAMING since that video!
Okay but can we talking about the thumbnail, sheesh
I would love to see Elizabeth collab with will ramos on a song... like it would be so freaking cinematic
I hope Will introduces Elizabeth to Job For a Cowboy soon. Shes now ready for Entombment of a Machine.
For some reason, I now want to hear the two of you duet on “Time To Say Goodbye” - that would be a tremendously entertaining collab!
As a massive ongoing fan of the Mike Patton era of Faith No More (& Mike Patton as a phenom of vocal ability) i’d stress to Mr Lorna Shore a view/review of his abilities/talents. The guy is a BEAST! 👊🏻🙌🏼👍🏻🇦🇺😎
My son and his buddies went to check out Lorna Shore. I’m an old metal head, and I wanted to go check it too. But my kid just turned 18 and and I thought it was time to let him go to the show with his buddies alone so that they could do their thing. I’m no longer pit worthy at my age anyways. All I can do is hang out in the back and head bang like it’s 1984😂. They had a great time and said it was incredible. I did take him and his buddies to the next show which was Periphery. Killer show. 🤘🏻. But at my age, I’m an every other show kind of guy now😅. I’m ancient. I remember going to see Metallica in small clubs when Lars was trying to sell T-shirts. Yeah, I’m old AF. 😂 . Anyways, cool interview! 🤘🏻
I would love to see your reaction to one of the biggest Canadian bands of all time, The Tragically Hip. Canadian royalty, the nation came together to warch their last concert live, and grieved the death of Gord Downie. Grace Too is so powerful, i think you will really enjoy reacting to it.
Fantastic. I would appreciate seeing more interviews like this. I often wonder when listening to a vocal performance what comes from work to make something happen and what is innate ability and comes out without any thought?
this is still my favorite musical friendship ever.
The start of an unlikely friendship and I love it!
Will and Elizabeth are the metal Snoop and Martha. You will not change my mind. Stay gnarly fellas and fella-ettes🤘
I’d love to hear your analysis of Sandy Denny- specifically her rendition of The Quiet Joys of Brotherhood by Richard Fariña. There’s also some great footage of her playing piano and guitar and singing on youtube. She was part of the British Folk Revival. Sadly she passed away too young and her death was overshadowed by Janis Joplin’s death. Anyway, her album “Sandy” is amazing. Fun fact: Sandy Denny is the only other vocalist Robert Plant duetted with in Led Zeppelin on The Battle of Evermore.
She is soooo pretty.
Have you ever done an analysis of Duran Duran Ordinary world??
Elizabeth and Will, y'all rock! Peace ✌️
Did the Power Stance just get named The Zharoff?
I have to be honest. I've always had this prejudiced opinion against Deathcore, and especially growling. To me, it always sounded like a huge bullfrog, choking and gagging.
But seeing your "series" of videos, featuring Will, I have to say that I gained a good amount of respect for the genre!!!
Has it become one of my favorite genres? Nope. But I must admit, that I DO listen to Lorna Shore from time to time.
And Will? LOVE his personality!!!! And yours too, Elisabeth. 😉💖
Thank you for this awesome channel. 🤘😃
I feel like screaming (well, at least false cord screaming), whistle notes and Tuvan throat singing are similar enough that if one can successfully learn one of those vocal techniques, they can also learn the other. At least someone might be able to do it fairly good.
My boi Will shouting out Beyond Creation too. Such a cool dynamic between Elizabeth and Will. Will is 100% right though get vocal lessons if you wanna sing clean/harsh whatever floats your boat coz sometimes it can take an outside perspective of someone who's been doing singing for a long time to understand what you're doing wrong and help you improve on it. Giving up on something you're passionate about because you don't wanna seek outside help means you probably aren't really passionate about it to begin with.
Knowledge is power and it’s better to have the knowledge of your interests than not.
Love that these 2 became friends
I ❤ these two.. even together ❤
I hope I someday hear your analysis of the song .....show must go on by queen. please do it as the thousands of RUclips videos did...
I would love to hear you do harsh guttural vocals like the ones Will taught you how to do. I can just imagine you getting up to perform at a bar or something, and then picking up the microphone, everyone’s gonna think you’ll sing something poppy or jazzy, but no- suddenly you take a big breath in and start SCREAMING AND GROWLING!!! That would be an epic way of catching people off guard!
There is a RUclips video with Elizabeth learning/practicing gutturals aka Tuvian(sp?) throat singing. Also. Listen to The Hu. Grand examples of the vocal technique(s).
Can you review Shakes Graves. He’s an amazing musician and a phenomenal singer!
Good stuff! I noticed you haven't reacted to any Mastodon, they're a prog metal band with three singers (including the drummer Brann) I recommend "Teardrinker" if you do!
Disco era Bee Gees is a good example of falsetto screaming at high pitch in tone etc. Not the whistle register, but still something to draw inspiration from. Barry Gibb literally described his singing technique "I found that not only could I scream in tune, I could sing a whole song in falsetto." Would also make a great reacts video. Had also read in an article mentioned that the black and gay communities have sometimes used similar techniques. Bee Gees Stayin' Alive ruclips.net/video/I_izvAbhExY/видео.html
When you do Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Tuesday's Gone" (and you will! ), please use the live version from '76. Very deep blues, and In My Opinion, their "Prettiest"
I’m still waiting for the Charismatic Cook, featuring Kirk and Will in their destined roles as father and son cooking delicious meals together.
It seems like a decade ago❤
God i love this collab
So four minutes into this video .. I realize that cute, sweet Elizabeth has the most epic and brutal looking sword casually behind her in the shot 😅
love you more every video 🤘💓✨
He is so freaking awesome 👌 ❤
Hi
Check out sad man's tongue from Volbeat. Here you can hear shift beteween several typs of sining
2:30: Leoncavallo: Pagliacci / Act 1 - "Recitar!... Vesti la giubba"
need to listen to meeting the master
Please do a reaction to the band Tesseract. The singer Daniel Tompkins has an amazing voice and range. Love your videos btw
My turbo nowadays costs.
Me 2 x 31 is the best please to sleep.. he'd better pit on Sunday lotion, etc. If you see his channel while growing, too bad.
I'm curious, how many amos- like/atmospheres?
Oops. Someone reset the bot.
ELIZABETH....PLEASE DO A JOURNEY SONG!! I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR "MOTHER, FATHER" BUT THE MOST POPULAR ARE "DON'T STOP BELIEVN'" OR "OPEN ARMS".
It’s funny hearing about how it’s beneficial to put your foot on something when you’re singing because I was told by one of my lecturers who does live sound all the time that he hates that singers always put their foot up on the wedge monitors because they always move them out of position 😂
He said it was just to look cool on stage but it’s interesting that there’s actually a reason why singers do it whether they realise it or not
❤❤❤
I remember I was playing Elden Ring when I had this original podcast on the background :D
May I suggest you listen to a Suzanne Vega cover of “Tom’s Diner” sung by Annenmaykantereit &Giant Rooks. I personally like this version a lot. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Also highly noteworthy are vocals from Warrel Dane in the first Sanctuary album Refuge Denied. High pitch sustained gothic screams.ruclips.net/video/OOoklqEDlFw/видео.html
Love your reaction videos. Take a listen to Portishead- glory box. The live version. I think you you may enjoy it. 😊
Bruce Dickenson does that power stance. Doesn't surprise me.
Hey Will have you ever heard Clean Flesh?
Can you review Calling by Taproot? And Wasteland by 10 Years?
Could you give Will singing lessons and video it?
Have you heard his Joji cover. Someone have given him lessons since chokehold
I don't want to listen to anyone scream-sing BUT learning about it is interesting.
...it will creep in and the day will come when nothing else will do...
React to dimash's performance "Dudarai" pleaseee
I felt compelled to say that (as it's displayed for me) my thumbs up made it say 100 up and zero down. So after the video, the current count is 131 up & 0 down!
#MetalFTW
Diamanda Galas - Double Barrel Prayer could be interesting
Interesting 😮
I beIieve Randy Blythe from Lamb Of God aIso was an inspiration of Will's. 🤘
does anyone know the song Will Ramos mention of the band Beyond creation or deviation?
