That’s for sure. This shows a versatility to the product that you have to really stumble accross. It’s a bit of work, it maintains that musicality and realistic tone that is missing from a lot of the other guitar VI’s, and why these session strummers are such a go to. It instantly doubles and triples potential usage by the ability to truncate ans offset the patterns.
Great video. I've employed this technique myself solely through trial and error, and this is the first video I've seen demonstrating it. I've read a lot of negative reviews about NI guitar engine and the fixed patterns. It goes to show that if you stick at it, you can pretty much make whatever patterns you want. 👍🏻
Acoustic guitars on average are strummed in a typical song so it makes perfect sense to have realistic human player patterns that you can still trigger in a unique way. Most libraries sound so dam artificial when strumming this was honestly probably one of the only ways to get realism. I dont feel limited by using strummed acoustic whatsoever so yes; once you stick at it you can make ground breaking patterns.
Hi Can I make my own chords by changing a single note? I do not have a keyboard, so my question is if I can takt a chord and drag and drop a single note from ex. A to G, but keep the rest of the chord as it was. Hope it make since :)
Can anyone rell me in Strummed Acoustic how to play only single strums. For exanple, hitting a C chord and it only plays a down strum without a continous strums?
thank you for explaining its realy nice !! im debatibng on getting some Kontakt libraries en Kontakt now with Black Friday . im just a hobby music maker and had to quit after many years due illness but now slowly coming back and want to buy it this time . and more other stuff and Kontakt itself and this video helps alot because I want to create a nice little band music (drummer guitar bass vocals ) and this tool is awesome now I see . wish NI would make more videos like this because it makes the library's so much powerful and full potential add you as a sub and thanks !!
Menn I can't figure this thing out. When I play a C chord that's supposed to sound lower than my G chord, the C sounds higher etc. I can't make a decent chord pattern that actually progresses the way I want because the chords seems to mix in height randomly.
Hi Rudy this plugin emulates a real guitar so it plays it the way it would on an acoustic guitar; for e.g C is naturally higher than G in a normal 6 string(or 12) guitar thus it sounds that way
I can't get it to work right. 15 years of producing and I can't figure it out. At first C1 was triggering, Then C1 triggered D1, pressed song play and C1 triggered F1. I deleted everything and reloaded, it won't play anything. I deleted and reloaded again and now C1 is always triggered no matter the note I play to trigger.
I still don't understand how it maps and plays. It's the most confusing Ui! It says Dm but it shows E. Why is there 6 notes preconditioned by default. Why does it never play F#1 and I have to manually select it. Why does it not remember my 4/4 choice and I have to click it every single time. Why do different patterns play in different note segments. I have a million questions about it. Sounds nice but impossible to understand how to operate it.
Great video! I would prefer to compose Acoustic Strummed parts by playing them on a keyboard, as opposed to manually insert midi notes as you did. But I can't figure out how to make the tempo of my patterns, as I play them on a keyboard, match the tempo of an existing song, in bpm. How is that done? As I play them within the song project, the patterns derive their own tempo and are not in sync with the song's existing tempo. The closest thing to possibly remedy this is the "sync to host" function but that does not do the trick. What is the fix?
Thanks for the video! I just bought Strummed Acoustic, but I doubt I will use it much. I was hoping it would be easy, fast and user friendly, but I hate these external solutions. I just want it to be part of my Logic session, not a separate session I need to set up and trigger.
Personally, this video helped me to decide to not get NI session guitar. It just looks time-consuming and complicated. I'm better off just recording guitar.
3/4 the way through I thought you had skipped the part I needed help with the most , The triggers.......Thanks so much , glad I watched the end. Although I have delux now!
Does anyone know if it's possible with any of NI's Strummed Acoustic Instruments to turn off the "single note chords"? I use it live and would really like to play my own bass or guitar except when I play a 3 or 4 note chord.
there's a couple of ways to do it. (1) you can use one of the 3/4 patterns and those will match up with the 3/4 timeline and (2) bounce the parts of a 4/4 pattern to audio and then cut/stitch them to make the 3/4 parts or loops
No, unfortunately only play pattern. This is why they called it "session". I hope they'll modify it in the future...Good alternative is Amplesound guitars, to play your own notes and have realistic sounds.
Hey JD ..i followed the same instruction explained by you but everytime i trigger a note my Rhythm won't start on time ..i tried that slightly behind the grid concept but i fail ....please let me know what exacy I'm doing wrong...thanks in advance
Hate this plugin. The only reason I got it is bc I thought you were able to customize your own strumming pattern. The patterns on it are boring and cliche.
@@Runaverse It's a Kontakt Instrument made by Native Instruments. www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/guitar/session-guitarist-strummed-acoustic-2/
To play a whole note (and avoid searching for patterns to accomplish that whole note) just use the yellow key switches. Put the correct key switch (yellow) in the piano roll on the beat while having the chord trigger notes just before the beat...by putting the note just before the key switch you tell the key switch which note to play...
Thanks a lot!! I really appreciate your effort. I just wished it was a lot easier to customize patterns in this plugin. If it wasn’t for the realistic and beautiful sounds this guitar plugin produces, I would not even bother to work with it. Truly, thank you!!
Thanks for your video! Once I've completed all of the programming, is there anyway to render the midi into a wave file, so I can close te plug-in and just work with the wave file? Thanks.
Hey dude this was a super helpful tutorial! My only issue is that I am not able to trigger the different strum patterns or change ups by using the trigger keys D 1 Etc. Have you ever had this issue?
Great tutorial, thanks! I am going to stick with the strummer and hold off on guitar lessons for now. Could you try an example where you change to a 2 or a 6 beat bar in the arrangement. I have been struggling to get cyber strummer cat to go along with that move. It seems to like only 4 to the bar.
@@geekat it has it's own key mapping for it.. You could discover once you play through the key range... It's somewhere along the lower octaves.. Use that key map to force stop wherever needed

Great explanation and Tutorial. It also help me to decide whether to get a guitar plugin from NI. This is a total mess of a plugin however - not user friendly at all. Hoping Toontrack will add a Guitar to its EZ line. It will blow this NI guitar out of the water. It takes way too much to build such a simple strum.
Hello JD! I agree with Jason, you explain Session Guitarist well, thanks! Question though, I LOVED how you cleared the Pattern Browser and CHOSE which patterns you wanted........... but can you SAVE this At Home Preset?, I never caught that in your video. OR do you have to re-create this process whenever you want to work on that song, with the various patterns? Thanks for reading!
Thank you for this tutorial, it was very helfpul dude ! PS : you can be waaaaay faster in Logic using shortcuts and little tricks....Let me know if I can help :)
why cant you just play it i personally have this and never use it.....I heard the picked one you can just play it on the keys why they didn't make this the same i don't know
The Strummed Acoustic 2 library has a fine sound, but it's good only for 4/4 rhythms. It's pretty weak for anything like 3/4 or 6/8 or what have you. For 3/4, is just has a few mostly lame patterns, imho. For me was a waste of money. I should have just bought the Picked Acoustic Library (which I did later). Much more useful and versatile.
I thought so for a while too but then realized that you can customize 4/4 patterns by shortening them by a beat and making it to feel really nice. I write and arrange in 6/8 pretty often and so I have come to appreciate Strummed Acoustic in this way.

cool but still kinda suck only play what they recorded and chords not good. its like playing same chord other place. why not record all strings and you play 6 note and it strum it lol like quitar easy or use those notes to pick easy. they just record bunch of but not actually we need lol
