Very few feelings can match that point in the game emerging from hours of caves and darkness back to the surface to have your arrival greeted by this music. Makes you feel invincible.
I played it again some months ago, and I was still impressed. Generally 3D games with realistic graphics get old quite fast, but Metroid Prime looks the same as before.
it just never gets old! the details on the graphics and the environments (such as moisture on your visor, rain dripping down your cannon in different patters each time, etc) is simply unique and priceless, even after all those years.
Honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with the focus on pushing polygons instead of a ton of texture detail like other companies. Don't get me wrong, textures are still fantastic, but the amount of polys is insane and really helps the game look good. That all is obviously in addition to the fantastic art style.
One of the best themes ever made. EVER. You feel the spirit of the game, the loneliness, the menacing jungle around you, the ancient story of the Chozo, their suffering... my God, this was a masterpiece.

This game. This world. This conflict. This everything. Tallon Overworld 2 could be seen as the theme of Metroid's revival. The honoring of the past, the sense of adventure, and the idea of a whole new world to explore. This song really encapsulates everything that is Metroid. And at the same time, tells the player "Sit down. We're just getting started"

The graphics are beautiful and still hold up, and do I really need to get into how awesome the soundtrack is? It's one of the best on the console, it not THE best.
I went back to replay it a couple of years ago, and somehow I kept noticing beautiful little details that I had somehow missed the first times I played it. Like how you can actually see Samus make different hand gestures for each different beam when you have the X-ray on. So much effort and care was put into the little things that you can easily miss, and it really paid off.

I like both themes a lot and they both have their own unique positive aspects, but this one is just... so much better... with the moodiness and borderline spookiness... though I start to wish that they had taken the Phendrana Drifts approach with these themes so that we wouldn't have lost the first theme while playing... as in placing the second theme deeper into Tallon Overworld like the Phendrana Drifts Depths theme was placed deeper into its part of the game, hence the name of the theme of course.
This game had so much mystery and love and feeling put into it. It was absolutely perfect. So much immersion of being on an alien planet, and having it be peaceful and magnificent.
Had to come back to listen to this so I would feel better after seeing Federation Force. Metroid Prime, you really were the prime point of the franchise.
They ruined Samus as a character. Before she was a bad ass bounty hunter that feared nothing and was never afraid to shoot a mother fucker in the face. Other M shit on Samus so hard it was sickening. Making her into a scared, whinny, weak little girl who has to wait for someone to tell her it is okay to use her stuff, just revolting. Samus is that bad ass bitch who blows fucking planets up and wipes entire alien races out, not some girl who crys over an alien baby literally every 5 god damn seconds, and pisses her pants when she sees Ridley, a guy she has spent her entire life beating the shit out of. Honestly the new "Samus" is NOT the Samus I remember and the Samus I love.
I agree that people need to look at Federation Force from a different perspective, but not that Metroid is shit. To be fair it was Team Ninja that changed Samus to what she was in Other M. And supposedly Prime 4 is in development going off the hint at the end of Federation Force, and I assume it would be developed by Retro Studios, not Team Ninja or Next Level Games, I had never played the Prime games until recently and I just finished Prime 1, and I like what I have played of Other M, but I can see what people dont like. And Federation Force really feels like a Prime game to me in terms of the atmosphere, but it's a spinoff and people need to realize that, it's not gonna replace the whole Metroid series
Prime 1 definitely had the best music. Prime 2's was also pretty good, but I can't recall the entire soundtrack like I can Prime 1. Prime 3's music just wasn't all that memorable in my opinion.
I smoked Prime in 13 hours and 56 minutes. I admit, I probably should have savored it a bit longer. But, once I get that momentum going, I don't wanna stop. Also, this is some beast platforming music.
mrbibs350 my fastest time ever to beat this prime game was about 5 hours and 10 minutes.. I lost a buuuuuuuuunch of time killing the omega pirate and ridley.. daaaamn, they never died lol
So after listening to MP from 1 to 3 for about 8 years, I have to say this is indeed my favorite theme. From the baseline to the amazingly well-made organic sounds, I can feel the earth or the rain falling. Insects making sounds, plants growing. Retro Studios did such a stunt with this piece of art :)
The Prime trilogy will always have a special place in my heart. When I think of my journey through Prime it brings tears of joya nd reminds me of a time when games where made with soul and passion.
Right now I am 13 years old and I was playing this when I was 4 years old. My dad introduced me to the game and I loved it! So since I played this awesome game at a very young age and enjoyed it at such a young age the nostalgia I get from playing this game over again is tremendous
Ten years ago I was obsessed with the metroid series and this was my favorite game. Time goes by so fast. Wonderful and beautiful memories come back while hearing this :)
I love this music. Every time I hear it, I feel like I'm on adventure on another alien planet. This game has continued to fuel my love for science, imagination and video games. This music is both emotional and atmospheric. Despite not having a single word uttered, you feel like it represents the entire mood of the game. Isolation and exploration.
Please.. who do I have to kill to get an HD treatment on WiiU? Just touch up the textures a little bit. Give me better water and particle effects, 1080P and keep it at a solid 60fps. Please Nintendo ..Please..
i have good news for you... the next major metroid title for the WiiU might be in development by the one and only Retro Studios.... we all know what that means...
This song is so perfect for this part of the game. It fits the watery forests just as perfectly as the first, but the sense of ease, of curiosity, of exploring a new world is replaced with a sense of urgency amidst the relaxing atmosphere, for you now know that this beautiful land will soon be ravaged by the Great Poison if you are too slow...
metroid prime triology saved my life I didn't have that gamecube life so i had to play prime 3 like 4 times till i saw metroid triology was on sale for 10 dollars on wii u store like 6 years later XD this was my facorite MP theme
Everytime I hear this it always gives me the chills. This really makes you feel alone in an alien planet. This is just astounding, it is so immersive. You really felt compleatly alone with this song. A true music art masteriece. This things makes me sad, to think that amazing games like this are long gone. Where did the art of gaming go? But I can proudly say: my childhood was epic.
Would you believe when I first played this game I thought it was all based on the orpheon? I was like maybe 6 or so when I first played it and having no prior experience with the series I thought it was this cool "space ship gun guy game" for years due to my lack of game skill I was stuck on the orpheon wandering around just taking in all the sci-fi sights and fights. For maybe five years I was stuck playing in the tutorial and I loved every second of it. When I finally got around to finding the boss and beating it I was hit in the face with some hardcore anxiety as the timer popped up and the game went into adrenaline mode. I failed the escape more times than I can count and to this day it still evokes a twinge of ptsd. After I made it out after so many attempts I sincerely and wholeheartedly thought I'd beat the game. As I watched Samus lose her suit and seeing her get into her ship I felt accomplished and thought the downgraded suit was a cliffhanger.. and then I watched as she made her way to the massive planet in the background and became visibly confused. The ship landed and she stepped out the screen zooming in on her view bringing up the HUD again as I frantically started moving her around again while this song began to play. When I'd finally realized this wasn't over a new feeling excitement washed over me as my adventurous side took over and I began to explore this wonderful rainy world. What a hell of an introduction into this series for me. The overwhelming nostalgia of listening to this brings tears. I can't thank my parents enough, because I hadn't had any experience with video games at this point and they managed to give me a GameCube with three games. Windwaker, Sunshine, and Prime. I was introduced to three amazing series and I'll forever be grateful.
@@gabrielmccrea4873 kinda had the same experience. I was stuck for a while cause I was too young to understand much and eventually made it through bewildered about all the new areas

This game had so much mystery and love and feeling put into it. It was absolutely perfect. So much immersion of being on an alien planet, and having it be peaceful and magnificent.
When a Full 3D Pokemon RPG with Routes and Grass areas to catch wild pokemon not a map you select an area and you "ride" there, I will die of fangasm.
Had to come back to listen to this so I would feel better after seeing Federation Force. Metroid Prime, you really were the prime point of the franchise.
agreed
Why can't they make another good Metroid. Not those chibi monsters.
I agree that people need to look at Federation Force from a different perspective, but not that Metroid is shit. To be fair it was Team Ninja that changed Samus to what she was in Other M. And supposedly Prime 4 is in development going off the hint at the end of Federation Force, and I assume it would be developed by Retro Studios, not Team Ninja or Next Level Games,
I had never played the Prime games until recently and I just finished Prime 1, and I like what I have played of Other M, but I can see what people dont like. And Federation Force really feels like a Prime game to me in terms of the atmosphere, but it's a spinoff and people need to realize that, it's not gonna replace the whole Metroid series
Slave2thedrago well hopefully he learned from that, but I still feel like a Prime 4 wouldnt have that kind of backstory to her. Hopefully
I love how so many of the Prime songs are remixes from Super.
Still a complete slapper of a track after all this time
Funkiest shit i've ever heard
Prime 1 definitely had the best music. Prime 2's was also pretty good, but I can't recall the entire soundtrack like I can Prime 1. Prime 3's music just wasn't all that memorable in my opinion.
Yeah, Prime 2 wasn't as good (still far from bad though). The submerged temple got annoying pretty fast because of the soundtrack.
I thought Prime 2 had a lot more stand out tracks compared to Prime 1. Prime 1 had a lot, but Prime 2 had a lot more.
I could argue that SkyTown has one of the best themes in the Prime series...
Pretty much what I think:Prime 1 has a lot of great music, Echoes has a decent number of great music, and Corruption has almost none.
Play this with Rainymood at the same time. So epic...makes you feel as if you're actually on Tallon IV, =)
I smoked Prime in 13 hours and 56 minutes. I admit, I probably should have savored it a bit longer. But, once I get that momentum going, I don't wanna stop. Also, this is some beast platforming music.
When I was 12 I could clear it in under 6 hours, I doubt I could do it in under 20 now.
You forget that the purpose of playing a game is to have fun, not to complete it.
I haven't forgotten anything. Who said I didn't have fun, doing it?
mrbibs350 my fastest time ever to beat this prime game was about 5 hours and 10 minutes..

Getting ready for the physical release on Switch!
i feel like listening this while walking in the rain
The Prime trilogy will always have a special place in my heart. When I think of my journey through Prime it brings tears of joya nd reminds me of a time when games where made with soul and passion.
I was so happy and i didn't fucking know.
Wow.
Right now I am 13 years old and I was playing this when I was 4 years old. My dad introduced me to the game and I loved it! So since I played this awesome game at a very young age and enjoyed it at such a young age the nostalgia I get from playing this game over again is tremendous
Maybe when I make some money, I'll consider getting Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii U eShop. I've always wanted to play the Prime series!
Preston Stephens You should, they are a blast to play!
Every time it rains or there is a storm I just get my iPod 2 out and listen to this while I walk, never gets old. ❤️
0:18-0:35
Chills...
The melody and its tone is just too good
thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
2:03 god i love this part, the transition is so guuuuud
this and the echoes opening theme are my 2 favorite metroid tracks.
This shit is my jam, I wanna cruise in a black low rider in the city to this shit! Lol
Everytime when its rainning this pops up in my head. Never gets old.
Fantastic theme! Love it. :)
This is excellent driving music~
ドライブするときに聴く音楽にピッタリですねw
Tallon IV Overworld 1: Brinstar from Metroid 1.
Tallon IV Overworld 2: Green Brinstar from Super Metroid.
wow, so many memories with that theme
The song itself feels nostalgic :)
10 years later i still think this game is a masterpiece
3:15 - 3:53
Chills everywhere...this is best game I've ever played.
Ten years ago I was obsessed with the metroid series and this was my favorite game. Time goes by so fast. Wonderful and beautiful memories come back while hearing this :)
Wish this could get a HD version released for the wii u.
Right? I honestly wished they had waited before making Metroid Prime Trilogy so it could be made for the Wii U's gamepad.
omg its been that long. i remember playing this when i was 11. oh gosh the memories. ahhhhh. the music makes me wanna play it
Late 90s early 2000s nightime thriller james bondish feel...
3:36 to 3:53 this imo is the best outro ever developed in a game, the little "x-files whistle" fading away... It's so fucking awesome
This could fit in Deus Ex.... i just walked around NYC Streets in the original Deus Ex while listening to this. fits so much
That is an awesome discovery; no sarcasm included.
Will never forget this one.
That's my jam.
This amazing music and comments like these just make me tear up, they make me so happy. Only truly amazing games like this can do this.
Wow, 1:12 hits my nostalgia nerves SUPER HARD!
Same man makes me feel seven all over again.
True.. But I meant native 1080P. Its a world of difference vs upscaled.
i have good news for you... the next major metroid title for the WiiU might be in development by the one and only Retro Studios.... we all know what that means...
Pacific Northwest woodlands be like:
metroid prime triology saved my life I didn't have that gamecube life so i had to play prime 3 like 4 times till i saw metroid triology was on sale for 10 dollars on wii u store like 6 years later XD this was my facorite MP theme
sneaking past your parents to get your dsi charger at 10:23 pm on a school night
1:12 begins the epic part of the song.
Still listening to this when I chill and get high.. this game and soundtrack are to good
1:10 Best Part ^_^
Chuckle sandwich got me here? 😂
Same
yeah i'm so confused lmao
I just wanted to hear more about Lance Nutthrust
this video is 16 years old, wow
I'm home
This game and my GameCube just came in the mail for Christmas. Played the tutorial world and I'm so excited to get further in!
This game is old enough to be over the age of consent in some countries.
Think about that.
God the memories I was so young back then
Imagine a WiiU HD remake
HD Prime Trilogy confirmed.
i get goose bumps when the main melody drops at 1:10 seriously it is pure Nintendo magic! metroid prime is by far my number 1 greatest game of all time! the prime trilogy is so unique and like nothing before it or after it!! PLEASE Nintendo GIVE US A PRIME HD TRILOGY ON WiiU for the mean time while you let Retro studios make a new prime game for WiiU! 1080p at 60fps the game pad is just perfect for prime!
Explain this, atheists.
1:12..so melancholic
I can't believe it's been 6+ years since I played this game. I still imagine that Tallon exists somewhere.
