I gotta say, as much as I loved Phendrana Drifts, entering Torvus Bog after spending like 3 hours in the Agon Wastes definitely hit me harder. This might be my favorite Metroid track honestly.
@@trash-ken I didn't expect anything like that in the game so I got chills when the camera panned from Samus to the fortress entrance. That moment was awesome and I'll never forget it.
The thing about prime 2 is that every zone is great. Prime 1 had phazon mines that sucked ass, magmoor caverns was also just OK. So going from zone to zone in echoes is just porn pretty much.
When I first played Metroid Prime 2, Torvus Bog made me nervous as hell. That nervousness doubled with the introduction of the Grenchlers. The fact that they swam through the murky waters with ease while you were hindered by it made me not want to go into the water. But then again, you aren't too safe from them on land either.
zombehnashun I stayed away from the water as much as possible, and the Grenchlers were hard to kill at first, but after some time they were not a huge problem anymore.
kruvik they are basically baby sheegoth from the first game. Strafe and use charge shots. The bog had my favorite music and I felt pretty comfortable here especially after the wastes. To each their own
u-mos hyped it up to like; the murky environment, and the enemies are far more aggressive. not to mention it's probably one of the more vast levels in the game....and there are two variations...dark/light
This is the one that really gets me in the nostalgia.. I miss those late summer nights with my cousin. Exploring these rich environments with their own unique atmosphere, each paired with a great soundtrack to really set the tone. We would scan everything we could find just to learn more about the world and it's lore. This game helped bring my cousin and I closer together :)
Torvus Bog, also known as Torvus Sector, previously the Torvus Forest, is a semi-industrialised wetland area found on the planet Aether. It is the result of an ocean flooding Torvus Forest, due to the cataclysmic Phazon Meteor impact that ravaged the planet decades ago. Torvus Bog is home to many aquatic and reptilian animals, among them the Alpha Blogg. Its Dark Aether counterpart is Dark Torvus. It has an upper and a lower area. The upper area is mostly what remains of the forest, while the lower areas are a completely flooded industrial area. The indigenous creatures of Torvus Bog include the Blogg and their offspring, Blogglings; Alpha Bloggs, Hydling, Krocuss, Sporb, Brizgee, Preed (probably brought there by Space Pirates) and Grenchlers.
I find the Decades between Prime 2 and 3 a rather large inconsistancy. months be a much better choice, alot of the Prime lore is abit inconsistant, but most of what you said was pretty accurate about Torvus. if it was decades the Luminoth would've undone the damage within a couple decades.

The Luminoth were at war with the Ing for decades, but they could not even stop the Ing from causing more destruction, let alone undo it.
@@ExtremeAce the Aether war (what I call it) lasted less than half a decade however it was an incredibly intense war that decimated both the Luminoth and the planet. The issue is (and the entire Metroid franchise as whole suffers from it) is time line inconsistency compared the actual in game lore. The Federations weapons and equipment alone being a great example: The GM-42 “Growler” Class Turret is referred to as ‘dated’ in the logbook entry, if your telling my it took the GFed 50 years to replace a point defence turret, then that is incredibly dumb. Let alone their armour and weapons. Hell did it take the federation that long to replace the Anhur patrol ships (patrol ships having a 15 year class life span irl) to the Aries class patrol ship. Those inconsistencies alone harm the lore to an extent. To fix lot Metroid timeline-lore inconsistency you have to reboot the entire franchises game including the prime trilogy (which irl suffered from a lack of development time).

A brutal war between the twin planets took place, with the Ing gaining the upper hand." So there you go the war was in fact taking place for decades, 5 to be exact.
Nothing like your first Metroid Prime 2 experience, it has its parts where the game decides to kick your ass but nonetheless the music in this game is amazing.

The only game that ever managed to make a swamp level be a 10/10, prime 2 doesn't has a single bad or even average area, every place you visit is great.
Echoes and the first one on gamecube still hold the title to top 3 best video game music in my opinion. Their music is a masterpiece and holds up even over time.
Words cannot express how glad I am that the OG Retro Studios is are the developers making Metroid Prime 4, that was a very professional choice made by Nintendo even though they had given it to another developer first.
I love how the composers in the Metroid franchise remake and use old songs in new ways. This one for instance is a remade version of Tallon Overworld's 2nd theme from Metroid Prime.
@@kruvik Well it may have been the same composer on both games but the high pitched keyboard is definitely calling back to the Tallon Overworld songs. That song uses elements of the original Brinstar theme dating back to Metroid 1.
My game dropped frames because of the water effects on the visor. It was most noticeable when I jumped out of the water, but the rain drops affected it too.
I don't have a lot of love for that high-pitched sci-fi synth in these games' music, but I do really love its implementation in this track specifically.

Just completed getting the sky temple keys in Torvus! All I need is Sanctuary Fortress’s and I think that’s it! 😄 So far this is a fantastic game and like you said I think I do prefer it over the first one! It really is a legendary gem. I’m playing it on Trilogy btw since I did not grow up in the GameCube era.

kruvik yup! Emperor Ing was so hard and tbh I died on the last Dark Samus fight cause I didn’t understand it. Lol Dark Samus 4 was easy though. It is a really good game and I think it’s definitely over shadowed by the first one like always. At the end of the day I can’t choose between Prime and Echoes. They’re both equally amazing games. Also I just played through Super Metroid on my Switch and holy crap that Metroid is the best 2D Metroid that really inspired how Prime should work and defined Metroidvanias. I’m currently playing through Fusion and while it is different it is still hella fun. I hope to play through Zero Mission sometime and I’m so excited for Prime 4! Playing through Prime 3 also! :)

kruvik Prime 3 is ok. It’s not about being isolated in Prime 3 cause you’re now with the Galactic Federation in third game just letting you know. I’d say 3 is entirely different than the others so just be aware of that. Nonetheless it is a great Wii game so do not be disappointed! It’s still a lot of fun! The thing that you might hate though is there is beam stacking meaning you can’t change your beams. Once you get a new beam you stick with it. Despite that the game is quite fun and instead of exploring one big planet you explore multiple planets with the cost of them being really small. So yeah that’s cool
Hopefully they release it prior to the release of Metroid Prime 4! Just how Nintendo is releasing Skyward Sword HD before BoTW2 (which suddenly has some Skyward Sword mechanics)!

Torvus always was a mixed bag for me. Lovely music, amazing rooms and decor, the catacombs beneath being such an interesting contrast to above, and having Red Soil as the music made it so charming. But the Grenchlers, water physics, the Alpha Blogg fight, and a few other smaller things always made me not a fan. And dont even get me STARTED on the Boost Guardian. Now that im older I can definitely handle things like Grenchlers and the water movment a lot better, but the Boost Guardian will always be a pain, same with the Alpha Blogg (its not that bad, its just sometimes the timing on it opening its mouth is really stupid)
The Boost Guardian is by far the hardest boss for me, especially on Hard mode. Besides that, I got lost frequently in the Catacombs and had no idea where to go which was rather frustrating. Besides that, atmosphere is unmatched for me.
Prime 1 to Echoes is probably a few weeks apart considering the gap between Metroid 1 and 2 isn't that big either. It's not that Phazon struck Aether right after Prime 1, it had struck Aether 5 decades ago. Samus (and the GF) just happened to run into the planet when it was on the verge of destruction.

Be ready folks, you are gonna get stuck in this area A LOT.
There were quite a few places where I got stuck and had no idea where I needed to go... But Torvus Bog is beautiful.

Also I just played through Super Metroid on my Switch and holy crap that Metroid is the best 2D Metroid that really inspired how Prime should work and defined Metroidvanias. I’m currently playing through Fusion and while it is different it is still hella fun. I hope to play through Zero Mission sometime and I’m so excited for Prime 4! Playing through Prime 3 also! :)
@@cheesesteak983 That's awesome! I'll play Super Metroid on SNES, unfortunately didn't have time to play it yet. Also, since I don't have a Wii, I couldn't play Prime 3 yet either... Someday I will have to catch up!
kruvik Prime 3 is ok. It’s not about being isolated in Prime 3 cause you’re now with the Galactic Federation in third game just letting you know. I’d say 3 is entirely different than the others so just be aware of that. Nonetheless it is a great Wii game so do not be disappointed! It’s still a lot of fun! The thing that you might hate though is there is beam stacking meaning you can’t change your beams. Once you get a new beam you stick with it. Despite that the game is quite fun and instead of exploring one big planet you explore multiple planets with the cost of them being really small. So yeah that’s cool

Torvus always was a mixed bag for me. Lovely music, amazing rooms and decor, the catacombs beneath being such an interesting contrast to above, and having Red Soil as the music made it so charming. But the Grenchlers, water physics, the Alpha Blogg fight, and a few other smaller things always made me not a fan. And dont even get me STARTED on the Boost Guardian. Now that im older I can definitely handle things like Grenchlers and the water movment a lot better, but the Boost Guardian will always be a pain, same with the Alpha Blogg (its not that bad, its just sometimes the timing on it opening its mouth is really stupid)
The Boost Guardian is by far the hardest boss for me, especially on Hard mode. Besides that, I got lost frequently in the Catacombs and had no idea where to go which was rather frustrating. Besides that, atmosphere is unmatched for me.

Prime 1 to Echoes is probably a few weeks apart considering the gap between Metroid 1 and 2 isn't that big either. It's not that Phazon struck Aether right after Prime 1, it had struck Aether 5 decades ago. Samus (and the GF) just happened to run into the planet when it was on the verge of destruction.
