  • Always Board Never Boring recently received a review copy of Betrayal: Deck of Lost Souls from Avalon Hill. He will be reviewing the game on the channel, but before he gets to that, he wanted to talk about the game's presentation. While the art is a little fussy at times, and it's not always clear to see the game's iconography, the cards do have a fantastic, nightmarish quality. Furthermore, within the art is concealed a secret. Let's see if we can solve this little mystery...
If you want to explore this mystery yourself, you can get a copy of Deck of Lost Souls direct from Hasbro, here:

booh! the german version has the same code, but it is unsolvable with the german text on the side of the box, the runes are identical to the english box.

This raises the question: Whom among the actual Scooby gang would be the traitor? I guess picking Scrappy would be too obvious.

    You, horror? Nah!
...oh hi Witch Lord, Dracula and Cthulu, what are you doing here?

Dracula gets my pick for being the traitor.

That's pretty neat. The cards look a bit busy to me, but they are certainly better than what AH normally does for their games. If only they could manage something, or anything, with D&D board games.
Did you ever end up getting a copy of the 3rd ed of betrayal and the werewolf expac? I haven't thought about it in a while now.

The cards are busy and sometimes keywords get lost in the chaos. This is something I talk more about in my review which will go live later this week.
Avalon Hill actually sent me Betrayal as well and I’m really enjoying it. I don’t have the werewolf expansion yet but I am sure I will get it!

'Smouldering fists' or 'small, daring fists'?

Or soldering fists? Maybe he was the victim of a terrible metalworking accident.
