The thin metal tab, which is used to mount an electrical connector should be on top of the power steering pump suction fitting, not underneath it. By placing it under the suction fitting, it doesn't seat all the way and can cause air leaks and cavitation.

My metal bracket was also above the suction fitting so agree that putting it under can cause PS leak.
Right! That makes a lot of sense, mine was this way when I bought the car, looks like I'll have to change that.
