The Ronbus R1 Ripple that was just approved and arrives in players' hands this week will be a very popular power paddle option. I've been maining the Gearbox Pro Ultimate Hyper which replaced my Pulse V and really like that paddle. With that said, I'm stoked for the 11SIX24 Vapor! 💪
@@kylepickleball me too. r1, vapor gonna be my hydrid and then R2 when approved - that will cover the shapes. Maybe neonic flow swift or something similar for an all court/control gen 2. Only concern is the fiberglass. Generally don’t like how fiberglass shoots off with little to no dwell. It’s a lower layer so maybe it won’t derive me nuts. We need a new descriptor along with power, pop because they aren’t synonymous and while pop can be fire/great on counters can also mean too much pop on dinks. Reviewers have lazily been saying “it has good pop and power” without thinking. Then they go to control as an entirely different discussion. It’s confusing. Can’t tell u how many paddles I’ve bought or tried and the reviewers just missed the description and most of it has to do with 2024 being the year of the power (and yes extreme poppy) paddle. Good power ok get it. Good pop is a little more nuanced. Good pop on the volley? Too much pop off the bounce. That’s why the ripple is so interesting. It may have really pop on the volley but soft, controllable and more dwell on the dink.
Curious if the Franklin C45 14mm will be a good replacement. Paris Todd was using it at The Masters this week and it sounds exactly like a Gen 3 Joola. She was putting some pretty good mustard on the ball. Guess we’ll see when it launches on 01/15. Edit: Oops, looks like all the Franklin sponsored players were using the C45
For now, I prefer an Elongated paddle, but I’m open to non-elongated. Before my current CRBN 3, I played the J2K. Sounds like the J2K+ is more recommended than a 16mm Gearbox Ultimate Elongated?
I don’t know. I have just seen them described by other reviewers. I can’t even find out when Honolulu paddles release. I guess 11Six24 are sometime in February. I’m guessing I’ll have to wait until March to see what’s actually available by all these companies and their future releases. Gonna be a crazy year for paddles!
Considering its checkered beta paddle QC and the rumors of excessive break-in with the production paddle, I’m going to hold off until more reviews come in of the Ripples that are trickling out now. Just hope I don’t miss out on the Ronbus Connect member $200 pricing as full retail $260 is not worth it IMO
I think it's so interesting that all these players want power. Forget about finesse. Forget about angles. Forget about dinking. All they want to do is bash the ball. And that is where pickleball has gone. How hard can you hit the ball.
Why would they get delisted? They all passed PBCoR. They’re all pretty soft surfaced paddles. Also what’s going to core crush, their cores are foam cells in a carbon fiber grid, not a polypropylene honeycomb like most paddles.

Yes, when are the j2k plus’s coming out?
Feb
Man i want that vapor power so bad…
lol it’s worth the hype
Vapor power is my next paddle 100%
Solid choice!
Enjoy the video. It seems that all Gen3 is infused with more foam.
Indeed!
Thanks for all of your great content and for keeping us informed. Is the Spartus Olympus a good alternative?
Wish this came out a little sooner haha but luckily I got the paddletek so I’m good
Glad you made a solid decision!
when are the j2+'s releasing?
I had the same question. I just ordered a J2K 14mm but may grab at J2K+ depending on when it releases. I didn’t see anything on the Honolulu website
@@strut24same here, I see no reference to the J2K+
HPC plus paddles will be released before the end of January
@ cool, thanks!
Feb
Have you not gotten your hands on a Proton Series 3 Project Flamingo yet?
Whats the sweetspot on the vapor like?
Big
Just got a J2K Pro 14mm because my J2 delaminated. Looking forward to the J2K+. How much of a difference is there between these two paddles?
How do you feel about that pro 14?
Will the new J2K'S come in 14 and 16 mm?
Thanks. I went onto the Honolulu website & the J2K Plus isn't listed. They only have a J2K Pro listed. Is that the one OR is that another one?
Come out in Feb
These are solid choice. I prefer the HUDEF Viva Pro Gen3 and have been playing it for a while.
Have you tried the CRBN trufoams yet?
I have! I’ve had them for a few months now!
How does the Holbrook Aero X 14mm compare to these top alternatives?
What about the Neonic Flare Prime X? I had heard it plays similar to the Paddletek paddles? Do you think it would also be a good alternative?
Not as much power so I wouldn’t personally recommend that as an alternative. Good pop off the face but not a lot of power.
If you get to keep the MOD and get 50% off a new one' why not the 3S?
Only reason I left off the 3S is because of the potential lack of tournament legality for some people depending on tournaments you’re playing in.
Good video. How about Joola 3s? or Rev Zeus?

What no Ripple?
What about the upcoming CRBN power series?
When's the release date

You have a beautiful voice. Good video, too..
What about six zero, Selkirk or CRBN top tier paddles ? Lots of B list In review. )
Nothing from those companies even compare as far as alternatives to a Mod go.
@ I hav a Perseus G3, but my BD JMV isn’t far behind. Black diamond usually on top with other power paddle shootouts. GB elongated is in there too
Glaring: r1 ripple maybe you missed the usap approval?

Pretty big change over the last couple years I have to say.
Those gearboxes will probably get delisted. If you have to break it in, it probably core crushes.

Let's make pickleball boring again
If I understand what you're saying, I agree. All anybody wants to do is bash the ball as hard as they can, forget about everything else.
i think it should be a mix of the two 👍
@@Mr.DJones that was exactly the opposite of what I meant
@@tommykaira8775 Why don't you explain exactly what you mean by boring? Nobody wants a sport than the rally ends in 2 or 3 touches.
