The added scene of Sasakibe being the one to do a sneak attack (thus giving Yamamoto an advantage in defeating Yhwach 1000 years ago) literally stabbing Yhwach in the back, was so cool with the hiding in the pile of corpses. And it adds to the narrative significance of him being the first Shinigami casualty of the war. Makes sense Yhwach would want Sasakibe to be taken out first now.
Plus them adding the OG gotei 13 in there when in the manga they were just silhouettes. We didn't even know what they really looked like until the color spread in Shonen jump last week

One of the greatest anime episodes I have ever seen. The added flashback of the OG Gotei, Yamamoto's horrifying humiliation in death, Ichigo's arrival, Byakuya scene, Ichigo vs Yhwach, the animation, OST's, heavy emotional weight... may I say, it's a masterpiece.
As much as I'm enjoying the other anime in the fall, Bleach TYBW is in a different league at the moment the 10 year wait was worth it, the animation quality, the story, music, directing/pacing and voice acting are all god tier

Ichigo has always been a monster at heart, forget whatever powers he has. He’s always willing to stand up to people even if they’re stronger. So many characters do this but there’s a different aura to Ichigo.
You think so? It seemed to me throughout the story he gets called and somewhat is cowardly. He can refocus when his friends(usually Orihime specifically) is in direct danger but he folds pretty quickly when he detects someone has much more power than him. The Fullbring arc was the epitome of that when he broke down crying in front of Ginjo before getting his power back.

I liked the attention to detail, you can see how badly damaged Zangetsu already was during the small blade lock between them. It was cracked and filled with chips, add a bit of "misfortune" and the blade is done for.
The love and passion the team has that is working on bleach is crazy, the fact that the director has no problem asking kubo for help and to help kubo give the story he originally wanted the TYBW ARC to be is insane, anime of the year for me

Some people noted that the sound effect when he is running is similar to a arrancar Sonido and he appear to use Pesquisa when he sensed the spiritual pressures disappearing which I think it's very nice to show his hollow powers being used naturally with his Shinigami powers
Fun fact: when he release his reiatsu during yhwach face off, the yellow aura represent shinigami and the red represent hollow power. Both kinda mixed in and you can see orange aura for a brief moment there
The first big twist of several in that arc...Ichigo and his relation with the Quincy...I really love how they show the Blunt vene in anime form, it's way more interresting than the manga form ! Also that first Gotei 13 squad looks amazing !!

I feel for my man Ichigo. He heard countless soul reapers getting bodied and dying in the Soul Society including his friends, then he arrives and sees them all including Byakuya who tells him to protect the Soul Society. So now Ichigo has the burden of protecting soul society when even Yamamoto is dead. Now he fights Yhwach, finds out he's a Quincy, and he knows even less about his mother than he thought.
The music was well chosen since the death of Ichigo's mother was what gave him his greatest regret and despair. It's like she is protecting him even now through his blut vene.
The animator who animated the fight between Ichigo and Yhwach was Yoshihara Kanno. He is one of the action/effects animation supervisor for BLEACH TYBW.
Little glimpse at the beginning why all shinigami are always afraid of gentle Unohana...won't say more but god do they have her badass look perfectly animated !! Also that captain with the eyepatch looks so much like Katen Kyokasu...is she related to Shunsui ?!?
if you check out the episode where Ichigo regains his soul reaper powers from a bunch of boxes, you'll see that aside from the one that had red ribbons coming out of it, there were some with white. In the episode where uryu was showing spirit ribbons, he said something about red being the color of soul reapers and he also showed that he had white colored ribbons.
What needs to be applauded is how cinematic these episodes have been in capturing the essence of the manga. The story boarders are going CRAZY with some of these sequences and their pacing

This is the fight that we all have been waiting for since the beginning of the final arc. The moment Ichigo sets foot in the Soul Society, his energy starts flaring up around him. And when he confronts Yhwach, his energy goes violent. And Haschwalth completely broke Tensa Zangetsu like it was nothing.
I loved how it didn’t give it away, but showed throughout the short fight how much ichigos blade was chipped. I really hope the see more of the original Gotei 13.
