@@qualicumjack3906 Probably lost all of its value considering how much material was removed. If only the rust was removed, it could've been a museum piece. Now it just looks like some cheap trinket that was cast in sand. The grips didn't even fit properly, and the varnish had bubbles and debris, and wasn't sanded. A nice stain and some linseed oil would've been much nicer
@@qualicumjack3906 Truly a godsend. You can even use it to seal/treat wooden cookware (cutting boards/spatulas etc...) as long as it's either raw linseed oil, or actual boiled linseed oil (most storebought BLO contain drying agents that make them inedible), and metal, as it can help prevent rust propagation (although it's not as good as hot/cold bluing, or japanning). I recently scraped the varnish off of a small camp axe's handle and refinished it with BLO. Let me tell you; that thing is the softest, most comfortable, splinter free handle I have ever seen. Plus, it doesn't crack and peel like varnish, you don't have to wash any brushes or worry as much about fumes, and with repeated applications and sanding, can have just as nice of a gloss or matte finish as a varnish.
@@andrewcross8244 This gun is not supposed to get shot. I would like to own such an old restored gun for display. Shooting most rusted restorations should not get fired anyways.
An amazing feat of restoration! The hours of work that must have gone into restoring that pistol must have been tremendous. I saw no way will he be able to restore it when I first saw the rusted out pistol but you did the nearly impossible. Bravo.
>Deactivates the hammer and buffer wheels the surface so its shiny and sends rust into microabrasions... Hey once it starts rusting and pitting at least its gonna be visible since the gun's sanded/polished from the bare and isn't blued or nickeled as you'd do to protect a surface once its been properly derusted and stabilised
Hi, this kind of attention to detail is outstanding, the care and quality that went into this restoration is astonishing, absolutely outstanding quality work, congratulations on your work,
@@markvegar1442 its not a real restoration, because it is not able to be used for anything other than a paperweight. As about a quarter of the structural integrity of the gun ended up on the floor as rust and iron filings, you'd have to be off your head to try and fire it.
beautiful resto!...he probably didn't want to have to register it as a firearm. I know he's in the US but in the UK the police would have more likely confiscated it and destroyed it.
Le travail fourni dans cette vidéo est magistral, chapeau bas l'artiste 😉 J'aurais aimé voir le travail sur le doigt élévateur du barillet et sur les pièces qui gèrent l'indexation et l'entrefer :)
Tell me did you Shoot it, You did a nice job , a lot of hours went into that, I found a 110 year old bow-ie knife the I found buried down 20 inches in the woods, It use to be a old wagon trail, The Knife is worth a lot of money, Came out mirror finish, I have shaved with it. I have owned now for 15 years,. Great job, Patience is a virtue.
Your restoration was a compliment to time, effort, skill, and finally reward. One thing I was wondering and not one of the comments addressed this is due to your heating it up and cooling it down in water would that not take the tempering out of the steel rendering it unsafe to fire, Hence a wall-hanging conversation piece? Thank you
Never mind the the heating and cooling, the removal of metal on cylinder and frame would make it unsafe to shoot. Never the less great job making the piece look really nice!
Wow... came out awesome dude..wow there's not that many parts to that pistol....I have noticed that when there's not a lot of part's to something and the simpler it works better and will last longer...just thing's I have noticed in life.....

The metal parts must be sprayed with paint immediately to stop the air getting to the metal. If it’s not sprayed within a few days all that shiny metal will be corroded. Rust cannot be cleaned off it must be blocked off.
If you play it at 2x, it's like HowToBasic, only he finally got some much needed therapy and started taking himself seriously and actually applying his crafting talent
Great job, but I can't believe you went through all that work bringing it back to life, just to deactivate it. Firing the weapon after it's been restored is one of the rewarding parts. Now it's just a decorative paper weight.
this is prolly the coolest one of these i've seen, unbelievable how close to being fully functional this little revolver is!!!
