The ironic part about these R-Rated comedies from back in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and the early part of the 2010s is that while most of them were entertaining, they did poke fun or make satirical references to portray the lives of the everyday average citizen and did give us some social commentary about things or events that were taking place in our society and foreshadowed events that could or were about to take place.
Some of them would also poke fun at some entitled celebrities.
I pitched one years ago. A guy loses his engagement ring at a strip club. 3 friends: 1 white, 1 black, 1 puerto Rican. I was told it was too diverse at that time. 😂😂😂
Funny how your pitch was too diverse, but they greenlight DEI stories by White Women. Just shows us how racist Hollywood is. They don't want Black and Hispanic screenwriters to make that money.
@@ShawnSJamesUnless you're a gay or buffoon of color they aren't interested. Straight Black and Brown writers who aren't wacky don't get much.
Wedding Crashers is one of my favorite comedies 💜 I miss the raunchy comedies from the late 90's to early 2000's 💜
Talk about all the great R-Rated comedies of the 1980's that would never get made today. Richard Pryor( Bustin Loose, Harlem Knights), Eddie Murphy(Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop), Rodney Dangerfield(Easy Money, Back To School). I didn't realize how spoiled I really was growing up in the 1980's. Here's to Yesteryear.
Cheers to Yesteryear.
Does anybody remember the 1999 Black Comedy movie "Love Stinks"? I sure, because no way that type of comedy can be made today especially with tech and most of Gen Z. Because that movie was also top notch and gave us glimpses of female nature as well.
Gracie!😂😂
Remember it. You can't make that kind of movie today with these far left types getting upset over things.
Yep, if that movie was made today, then eve would label it as ‘misogynistic’ or ‘sexist’.
*everyone*
I don’t remember the film even though I just looked it up just now.
Yeah, I agree, films like that would never have been made today because a lot of people would have labeled it as ‘offensive’ or ‘sexist’.
Plus, a lot of these far-left lunatics wouldn’t deal with the raunchy theme and comedic satire from the comedians back in the 80s and early 90s.
Guys like Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Bill Burr, Robin Harris, Bernie Mac would have destroyed them.
R Rated comedies were.mostly my go to, if I got bored with normal comedy.
R Rated comedies were a way of life for me in the 80s.
@ShawnSJames I love R rated comedy and it just makes you laugh from start to finish
Glad you mentioned the movie ‘Bad Teacher’. I have not seen the full film, but I did see a trailer of it and watched a few clips.
Yeah, I also agree with you on that front that although it’s not a cinematic masterpiece of a film, it does give a good feel of poking fun at some teachers who are abusive to their students and it does show an accurate portrayal of how the school system is structured.
Plus, you can also say that Idiocracy is another example of an R-Rated comedy since that movie was basically foreshadowing what’s happening now in our current state of affairs in this country especially with how many people have been brainwashed by social media.
John Hughes movies are classics 💜
He’s right. Most of these comedies in the last 12 to 6 years have been complete garbage.
Plus, a lot of these Hollywood executives don’t understand that in order to make people care about the film or project they are creating, they have to create stories about people that the audience can sympathize with or feel a connection to.
Also, without all those elements of storytelling and character building, then the film is lost and the audience will not care to see it.
I'm told that. I can't recall the last new one. 😂😂😂
There's no market for comedies period and that's thanks to superhero movies crowding them out.
I concur with what Vaughn said about Hollywood no longer making much movies. Blazing Saddles can NOT be made today- & it's one of the funniest movies I ever watch. & as with comedians, comedy movies are the last line for free speech- & so must be protected at all costs.
PS, you had LOL at 10:58 where you said "just like I like it!" As singer Huey Lewis would say, "you know...what you like! You know what you like to watch!"
Probably ALL of Mel Brooks movies would not be made now
They say comedy doesn't translate overseas -- unless it's pratfalls. Plus, it takes knowledge and good writing to do comedy. Like Caddyshack -- the writer needs to know something about golf, as does the audience, so (some of) the jokes work. Good comedy is probably the hardest kind of movie to do. I miss the fun of comedy films.
Make Comedies Funny Again.
Make it politically incorrect. That's what makes it hilarious.
Yep.
Can’t wait for this.
Get more laughs out of your content than any of today’s mainstream films 😎
My books are funnier than the videos.
@@ShawnSJames The Simp Trilogy is the best one’s I’ve read so far !!
Hollywood doesn't make comedies for the same reason why it no longer makes historical epics or fantasy films... there's no market for them thanks in part to being crowded out by superhero movies.
Deadpool and Wolverine was an R rated comedy
First one we saw in close to a decade. Doubt it woulda been made if it wasn't a superhero movie.
It's an R-comedy that has Marvel/superheros attached to it. If Deadpool wasn't a Marvel then it wouldn't be selling.
