It doesn’t have to be fancy for me. My favorite quiche may be asparagus. Love that cheese, custard, crust and fresh asparagus combination. So damn tasty.
That asparagus dish was featured in the Netflix show "Bridgerton!" It was only on screen for a moment, but I jumped up and was like "It's the asparagus thing!!!" I couldn't believe it! If only that show had paid such attention to detail regarding hairstyles...
Good thing I can't travel through time because I'd probably pull a bunch of asparagus out of that pie with a fork and make everybody faint with horror!
Steamed asparagus in a pastry ring with a bit of mayo. I mean I love asparagus don't get me wrong but it seems like a lot of faff and fuss over a green veg side.
Those Victorians were all about raffles fuss and faff when it came to pretty much everything. Let’s just say simplicity was not valued. Reminds me a bit of the tortured molecular gastronomy some favor today.
@@tonibauer2405 I know the Victorians were. I'm talking about the plethora of purple prose these two carry on with when describing it. There are thousands of far more interesting Victorian recipes and culinary innovations they could have recreated.
Fun fact: The Harewood House which replaced Gawthorpe Hall manor standing on the same estate, was built for money made on sIave trade by Edwin Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood who was a plantation and sIave owner.

@@tonibauer2405 I don't think so. I think its low-class, gap-toothed, dirty mustache bad enunciation British for a dropped-syllable word. Kind of like respitory and labratory. Did I mention low-class? I believe I did.
You mean queen Victoria's big statue? They just protayed her physical appearance, it's amazing the level of detail in it, AND it isn't the sculptors fault the fact that she was ugly AF 💀💀
“Can you believe a twenty two year old painted that” yes, you don’t have to be in your late forties-fifties to create a beautiful piece. It’s not like great skill is locked away from younger people.
I like the honesty of the chef saying he doesn't have a menu.
Instead of making up some crap.
Well he meant there is no surviving document indicating what the actual menu was for her visit.

Yeah, I know.
@@mjrussell414 loop ok she has no cheese LLP
I absolutely love this channel, it's been great consistently ever since I found it.
I agree!!
Absolute history, absolute love.
Could not agree more!
They literally just buy the licensing from BBC when they put old shows up for outside licensing.
Came for the Asparagus, was hoping for something a bit more than just crust, although I do like the idea.
Me too

“Hoping for something a bit more than the crust”
If Victorian England had a meme, it would be that
i love how passionate she is about cooking she's so sweet
What an amazing kitchen! All of the copper cookware is just beautiful. I would love to spend my time cooking and baking in there.
Someday, it will happen. You will be cooking & baking in there
….. and polishing. 🤣🤣🤣

Go travel throughout time and casually commit micro evils. Like the one you mentioned.
Along with tilting all of the paintings like Alucard
You’d wind up a crawler before you could make it back to your TARDIS.
Victorians were brutal fuckers
That assortment of spectacular copper cookware has me drooling!
Oh I been waiting on another episode! I’ve watched them all at least twice lol love queen Victoria lol
i adore lipscomb as a host, but these two are also such spectacular hosts. everyone on this show is just so perfect and so good at storytelling
Please organize this Queen Victoria travels into a dedicated playlist.
These two are the Aunt and Uncle I wish I had. Rosemary is delectable ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘❤❤❤❤❤❤
She is Lovely
That male host is the most British thing I've ever seen in my American life
Lol
Oscar Wilde kind of British, if you know what I mean. No, not the poetry bit.

Harewood is a magnificent pile.
6:25: yes mr. ageist, yes I can.
Very Cool. Love their Zeal for discovering what they're after.
I want to know what was in the Sopecially prepared Mayonaise.

Was curious about the asparagus dish. But, what is that black pipe-like thing, hanging from the kitchen ceiling?
Chutneys are easy and exciting to make your own of.
22:17 "Tinkle" the ivories?.... I think he means tickle the ivories. It's not tinkle, it's tickle.
I want to make that pastry!!
Go For It !! 👩🍳
They really are fawning over asparagus in mayo! How ridiculous
That Capability Brown sure got around in the 18th century.
He sounds just like the great GEORGE SANDERS - the cook guy
Touching the Queens watch gloveless after eating asparagus with mayo sauce, yikes! 😳😂
Do they eat the asparagus cold? With no sauce or butter or anything? Hmmm... not sure how that would be...
Can you imagine??
No not today ...
"...she must practice more, she slammed shut the lid of her piano and shouted, 'There is no must about it!'" Sounds like a spoilt brat to me
Thats the weirdest thing i have ever seen 😂
Eating that must be so difficult. You can tell nobody actually touched it
My gawd that man. is. British.
Food for decorative purpose.
Will ye ever stop with the dam ads
food is being handled too much
Yeah, the statue in the entrance hall would have been a bit of a shock to the 16 year old future queen.
What is a "laibry"? 5.42

That statue is horrifying. I really wonder about people who actually consider stuff like that "art".

Art is subjective.

Brits are and were too much about status this is too much effort to show that one is better than the other.
I love this channel and the topic of following down Victoria's life, however, I just find the guy so annoying, and his jokes aren't funny. Oops
