    Great video! Its on my official computing playlist. My question is about how all these different formats interact when running through a hub. It seems complicated enough to me to merit its own video, but for now at least, I have two questions.
    For any given hub, is output to any port limited to the capabilities of the port that the hub plugs into? Or are there other potential bottlenecks? For example, there are plenty of hubs that plug into one standard usb-c port that have hdmi and dp outputs. The one port I didn't see included in your vid was usb-c. Are there any limitations to the video output of such a hub or does each port maintain their full capabilities as if they were connected directly without a hub? ie does an hdmi 2.1 plugged into a usb-c hub maintain HDR capability? What about for displayport's higher refresh rates? Assuming bandwidth doesn't get maxed out. And then there are thunderbolt 3 hubs\docks. Do the same rules and limitations apply to a thunderbolt hub as do a usb-c hub with the exception of higher bandwidth?
    I'm looking at picking up a G14 which has (I believe) usb-c with displayport on one side and usb-c with thunderbolt on the other and I'm just trying to figure out how to minimize the number of cords I have to unplug to take it with me and jack back in when I return. But I'm also curious about how the different formats play and live together within a given hub.

    • @BitsTribe
      @BitsTribe  3 года назад +3

      Cool.
      Usually bottlenecks happen on the output side or when using both passive/active adapters, the best answer what out port is great usually means getting GTX 10 series and above to be safer.
      UBS-C not added cause is uses the same format as DisplayPort standard, but bit trick to explain as there is both thunderbolt and baseline USB standard on windows. I might redo a video update on this in the future. To know how many display can be saturated from a Type-C thunderbolt is based on its version. Like TB3 "Thunderbolt 3 supports refresh rates of up to 240Hz at 1440p resolution, 120Hz at 4K, and 60Hz at 5K. It also supports dual 4K displays at 60Hz refresh rate."

    I wish the manufacturers would just flat out say on the box what you need like the chart you put in the video did... IS THAT SO HARD!? I want to go with 1080p @ 240Hz wich is actually slightly under what my monitors rated at being able to do with a 1ms timing.. But I now understand the best way to go is Display port 1.4 (my monitor has multiple DP 1.4 and HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 plus usb 3.0 x a lot.. just alot of them. and etc..etc.. etc..) So I have options. . . Honestly, don't know why? I dont see any need to hook up 10 keyboards and cell phones to my monitor.. but they're there.

      USB port can meant to connect to HDD or portable SSD. They are low powered so charging is not advisable.

      @@BitsTribe Upon further reading in the manual you are correct, I guess there is a dedicated USB charging port on the monitor the rest are low power as you said.

      I don't think is cable, if blurry could be your resolution on software side. Go display setting and set it to max resolution

      When the windows 10 boots there is no problem. The only problem is video output irrespective of any resolution. The blurry effect is still there even in 720p 1080p 1440p videos..

    Long story short: DisplayPort 1.4 is superior to HDMI 2.0 for gaming in 4K + HDR. Use 4K 60-100Hz setting so you don't get DSC and still play your games at 60FPS with a powerful enough GPU.

      1st. Know your notebook pc hdmi port version.
      2nd. Buy the hdmi cable based on that versio eg hdmi 1.4 cable or 2.0 cable.
      3rd. Under Nvidia control panel go under display settings, change the frequency (hz) in the drop down menu

      Some report that 2.0 work many doesn't. Lots of cable manufacturer simply slaps the compatibility sticker to fool many.
      Is the same case of USB 3.1 gen 1 vs gen 2. Some board claim to be gen2 speed but actually gen1.
      Getting 2.1 HDMI cable would be a safe bet. :)
