Seeing this brings back such good memories of the Big Easy! These commercials show what will be missed the most in New Orleans. There is truly no other place on earth like Her!
Whoever you are thank you for this upload. This took me back to better times for real. I loved this commercial and it was always a treat to go in the store. I loved it there. One of the staples of my childhood. Peace
I love these commercials! Thanks for sharing. These are true New Orleanians! This video reminds me of my childhood; these are the type people I grew up with. Sadly since Katrina, many of the locals have left the area only to be replaced by large numbers of people from out of State who have moved in. It seems that we are losing our unique culture.
Not only that it was a totally different taste back then opposed to now. I've been trying to find out where it exists but can't find none. I'm asking what they boiled crawfish in back then...
I have some of these on dvd. Seafood City, Miller the Killer, Godchaux's, Rosenberg's, Pontchartrain Beach, Labiche's, etc. Just bought a dvd converter, hope to post them soon. Yeah you right!
On Big Al's immediate right is his beautiful dauther Saralyn who must have been about 15 at that time. On his immediate left is his lovely wife Sarah. Then next to Sarah is John "Skip" Culver and next to Skip is the older daughter Toni. They were beautiful, warm and loving people and I miss them all. Hey Skip...how ya doin'...remember the MV Harper and MV Pollard? How could you ever forget?! Miss ya bro...hope you're well. Same to Sarlyn and Toni of course. Miss you all.
Mr. Al is a great guy. Lil Al and I hung around together back in the early 60's. We would go to Steer Inn Rockery & Lenfants on weekends. Lil Al had a Mustang 2 plus 2 Beautiful car. Mr. Al love you man. This is Jack. Havent see you in years. Bless you.
Great vid! My pal used to have a bumper sticker that said (something like) "Al Scramuzza sings, dances, and flops on his belly like an alligator while shucking oysters at SEAFOOD CITY!" I used to deliver freight to Jam Records right next door at 1828. Thanks for posting.
This is the real New Orleans lol... I know the address to Seafood City, Rosenberg's, and Morris Bart's phone number by heart just because of the advertising lmao
I find that I do have some intact (Jax Beer, Godchaux's) and I have 2 parts of a Miller the Killer that I edited together to make a complete version. I'll try to post them soon.
Seafood City is very Pretty! Down on Broad and St. Bernard Stay with Al Scramuzza and you'll never be a loser! 1826 NORTH BROAD! TRUE words to live by. ;-)
YES YES YES!!!! Hilarious! I think I had it on VHS but all my tapes and films got destroyed by Katrina. I remember one of the songs was "Shake Your Boutte"
Mistofoles and Daisy Brambletoes Al Scramuzza was a businessman not an actor. He wanted to sell his seafood not audition for big screen Hollywood fame. The campyness in his commercials was its charm if he acted like a Hollywood wannabe or a Shakespearean player hed probably not have the impact that he did . Al Scramuzza is representative of Authentic New Orleans and authentic America. the quirks and campiness regardless of personal opinions of taste and style made for the authenticity and thats one of the original qualities that made America great.
Because I have the same versions of these commercials as you do (the Ronnie Virgets special). It ain't a knock against you dude...whoever did that special could've done better, that's all.

Loved these ads. I was a 2nd/3rd grader in N'yawlinz when these ads were on. I recall seeing them more so on Channel 4.

Is this from a DVD on classic New Orleans commercials? Can you order that?

We'd rather see these old New Orleans commercials intact rather than cut up and talked over...where's "Put this man to work"?
In looking for the Filipino seafood city
💪🏿⚜️🙏🏿💯🏴☠️🙏🏿⚜️
Nash was our good luck charm. He kept most of them AWAY from us. Think about it... He retired and... KATRINA!

Spent my whole life in NOLA, and never went to this place. I remember the commercials, though. They were so bad you couldn't forget 'em if you tried.
