  • The trial of Nicolae Miu, the man accused of the fatal 2022 stabbing on the Apple River, began on April 1. Nicolae Miu, 54, is faced charges of first-degree intentional homicide for the death of 17-year-old Isaac Schuman and multiple counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for his alleged role in the stabbings on July 30, 2022. The now-54-year-old man was a mechanical engineer from Prior Lake, Minnesota. He had been in jail since the stabbing. He claimed self-defense. After the altercation accured, Issac Schuman was sadly pronounced dead at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater. The other four victims - Rhyley Mattison, 24 and three young men, ranging in ages from 20 to 22, - were taken to a different hospital, where they remain in stable condition. Nicolae was ultimately found guilty of lesser chargers and is now facing up to 97 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for July 31st, 2024. Thank you to Nicolaes twin brother and his sister n law for sitting and speaking with us and answering the questions we had.

Lying, escalating the situation and provoking a man to do something that could destroy his life completley... sent him to prison for nothing. Poor😮😮 man. This man deserves a new trial due to a negligent defence team.
    The judge shouldn't be allowed to say he can't have a character witness, and the defence should have at least called in an expert on PTSD to explain about his trauma from Romania, which is why he might of reacted this way.
    This was self defence, but manslaughter at the most.
    That poor man was terrorized, both verbally and physically, and those kids get away with no charges whatsoever! They are just as culpable, if not more!
    He doesnt deserve to spend the rest of his life in prison for being scared to death and defending himself 😔

    • @WSKRBSCT
      @WSKRBSCT Месяц назад +4

      The defense was actually decent. He was originally overcharged and the last-minute, reduced charges that were introduced prior to deliberations weren't divulged to the defense, so the case they had proven didn't take into account the lesser charges. The prosecutor intended to railroad him based on an emotional argument and was successful.

      Do you think what was brought out in court painted Mr. Miu as a deranged murderer ? Or had you heard about this in the news and had preconceived idea. I felt Miu was’t allowed to be vocally clear, like his brother and wife are explaining. I think it’s why they would not let them on testify.

      @@judydoster5551I changed also. For one thing I saw more of the clips that I had not seen before. I didn’t realize they had pushed him down, tried to drown him and he hit his head. I also saw that he wasn’t easily allowed to leave the scene. I heard his background and realized he had a trauma response. He was in fear.
      I think he should’ve been held accountable for manslaughter, but not anywhere near life. And the mob/kids should’ve been held accountable as well.
