I used to sweat hard af using the elite assault class on the Red Army, had to make sure I had it on my SSD so that I could load in first and steal the slot. I don't think there's been a game since this one where a single player could hard carry a 32 man team like you could in this game. It was beautiful. Your team could be about to lose with 30 seconds left, but then one guy could get a perfect flank when nobody is looking with a satchel charge and blow up the objective, or kill 10+ on the inside of a wall with it on a capture point and turn the game around. Out of all the WWII games I saw/played, Red Orchestra 2 is probably the best WWII game by far. I’m a WWI and WWII Reenactor (I do White Army, Red Army, German, American, and sometimes British), and this game perfectly visualizes that simulated gritty experience. It has some of the best gun play I’ve seen, simple but horrific gore, excellent voice acting from both the English and Native speakers, historically accurate building/terrain layouts of the Stalingrad area, and simple cut n’ dry gamemodes. The uniforms are also pretty authentic, though soldiers on both sides fighting in Stalingrad had a more “unique” variety of gear, especially within the longer serving units. My only wish is that, when servers were more active, people would take the squad system a little more seriously (which is admittedly asking for a bit much).. but other than that, a perfect simulation game nonetheless. I want to play rising storm 2 Vietnam, but I'm worried about accidentally join the Mega server(s) or one of the servers that force you into the Mega servers.
no, i literally bought it a few days ago and its not worth it, more than 80% of the playerbase is diehard veterans that you'll never be able to kill or see for that matter, specifically on the EU server i played on with around 64 players average, 32 each team, half the playerbase is made up of russians you cant understand in vc. i mean lets start off, teamkill turned on and no name tags, allows for constant teamkill which happens a lot, and you cant really corner fire because there is a high chance that once you go spraying around the corner you kill someone of your own team and lose XP even though thats literally the best way to clear corners, while your enemy can just sit by and watch the doorway or corner and shoot right away when you have to check first, second, gun sway, very annoying, started off as rifleman and i was completely unable to shoot my enemies despite me being a veteran at call of duty and could carry entire matches on my own, aswell as being somewhat good at arma 3 and project reality which are the most comparable games i can think of, but in this game i felt like a total noob missing almost every shot while getting headshot over and over again by veteran enemies that were literally just farming me. third, grenade throwing, takes ages, and you dont know where the grenade goes, yet again high chance you kill someone of your own team when clearing buildings as there is literally no indicator on if the room you are about to throw grenades to is occupied by enemies or friendlies. fourth, for the reasons above this is the reason why the game has a dwindeling multiplayer population and with the added on issue of defunct servers which means you can only create servers now if you pay a monthly subscription for said server, which likely also contributes to a dwindeling multiplayer population as new communities cannot be made without the owner paying a price, unbeknownst that people will even join his community which makes it a costly thing to get into. (For short, you cannot expect this game to still be alive over 2 years, the game has clearly dropped in population a lot, From hundreds of thousands at release, to tens of thousands halfway, to thousands a few years ago, to a mere 200~ now during weekends) for all the reasons above, i have refunded both heroes of stalingrad and rising storm the next day as i heard rising storm vietnam is even harder than stalingrad due to the foliage.
I was not a huge fan of RO2 I really preferred RO1 a bit more hardcore and above all way more contents ! You could play basically all the eastern front until Berlin and get numerous tanks alongside original weapons such as MP-41, PPD40 … map design was also better in a way even if it was mostly based on the community contest maps.
I found a roblox game (yes, really) called Scorched Earth. It’s set on the eastern front and even features things like dynamic construction and destruction. It’s still in beta but I think it’s definitely worth trying if you like RO2.
Hell Let Loose is the closest I've ever got to the feeling RO2 gave me. It still doesn't completely scratch that same itch. No game will ever be as brutal and gritty as RO2. I really enjoyed RS2 too, but it was nowhere near as good as RO2.
Maaaaaannnnn.... I played the sh*t out of this game back in the day. It was soooo good. At the time when people only talked about CoD, I was one of the few who liked this more realistic gameplay experience.

when rising storm 2 got out i was thinking it was a new rising storm but no, we got vietnam yikes, i did play it and liked it but red orchestra and rising storm are so much better and im still waiting for a new red orchestra with more theaters
I didn't know this game for a long time, but discovered it 2 months ago and now it's my favourite WW2 online game. What a nice gameplay, guns feel realistic, the damage a bullet causes is pretty realistic, the graphics are still okay and the playerbase is still big enough to always find a full server where u cannot join and 3 or 4 other ones that are pretty full. I only dislike the maps, they look a bit artificial and not very detailed to me, but that's no problem, I like the game anyway and will play for some hours later. Had a nice match yesterday with a good team, I was the MG dude giving covering fire while my team went on to the cap, had a little beef with our commander who did't call arty, but after some time he followed my advice and led us to victory... great game, I love it
a ww2 historic singleplayer game made in 2024 from german and soviet side would be epic but no one would do it since omg warcrimes and nazis bad, would be cool
I've almost always been a console gamer (Xbox), so I never played this game. But just based on this video, it looks fairly similar to Hell Let Loose - a game I recently discovered on Xbox and it's one of my favorite games ever! Been waiting a long time for some new WWII games (that actually look good/modern) and I was so disappointed with both Call of Duty WWII and Battlefield 5 that I never even bought them, so Hell Let Loose was a very refreshing experience
I bought RO2 when it first came out, played it a LOT, then I played RS after I preordered it, both were golden games that I remember playing on a cruddy lap top in the summertime.
I liked it a little, but like rising storm, the game was hard to play in unless you were lucky enough to get a semi or full auto gun, or even a sniper. It seemed like 95% of the time with my old potato computer and internet, all I ever got by time I loaded In was a plain bolt action and I got to be a bullet sponge for everyone that got a better gun. I actually preferred Vietnam because almost everyone besides snipers maybe got a semi or full auto and had a chance on doing anything besides hiding and hoping to get the first shot off on someone bum rushing you with a sub gun or assault rifle. And it wasn’t based on just getting in first and choosing them. Though in Vietnam instead of getting semi/full guns, instead you get power classes like flame thrower, blooper, rpg, and sniper being quite powerful. My favorite ww2 game was call of duty 2 back on the 360, it felt very well balanced and no map of side felt like a complete one sided blowout.
I last played it in 2018 but I remember having great time playing it for few hunder hours. I played bit of HLL, PS or Rising storm 2, thought the the RO2/RS1 was still most fun out all of them. But I feared the game is probably dead at this point.
What kind of questioning is that ?. My dude, the game is a masterpiece. What I like about the game, is that the factions and political ideas have no room, it is just good old fashion PTSD, surviving and killing everything that moves.
6000 plus hours in this game. Never played any game as much as this one... even til this day. Its such a shame that RS2 was many many steps backward with the gameplay. RO2 was amazing
still a good game, but i feel like that a lot of people sleep on the Darkest Hour mod for RO1. Active dev team, gets updated often and they recently announced an italy faction and maps. Especially nice as Mare Nostrum is completely dead.
RO2 struck this very fine line of arcadey shooter mixed with realism that I cannot find any other game do right, even rising storm vietnam somehow falls short to me of what this game achieves because whenever I'm in a game of RO2, I'm IN IT. Its impossible for me to explain what this game ticks for me, but it does it just right and I'm glad there's still a community following for it to this day, its pure magic what this game offers
My heart jumped out of joy when I saw the high definition thumbnail as if there was a graphical overhaul mod but nooo :^( Happy you covered it because it's amazing just like rising storm 2:Vietnam. Hopefully '83 the game comes out soon

Great game. I remember playing with my friend after school. Sneaking past enemy lines on that map with the train station was fun as heck, you could basically sneak all the way into the warehouses if you were slow and careful enough and flank the enemy from behind. It was such a great game, RS1 was fun as hell too, and I even sometimes go back to RS2. The gunplay is one of the most satisfying. For some reason all guns feel very powerful and fun to shoot, which is probably due to the sound engine.

second, gun sway, very annoying, started off as rifleman and i was completely unable to shoot my enemies despite me being a veteran at call of duty and could carry entire matches on my own, aswell as being somewhat good at arma 3 and project reality which are the most comparable games i can think of, but in this game i felt like a total noob missing almost every shot while getting headshot over and over again by veteran enemies that were literally just farming me.
third, grenade throwing, takes ages, and you dont know where the grenade goes, yet again high chance you kill someone of your own team when clearing buildings as there is literally no indicator on if the room you are about to throw grenades to is occupied by enemies or friendlies.
fourth, for the reasons above this is the reason why the game has a dwindeling multiplayer population and with the added on issue of defunct servers which means you can only create servers now if you pay a monthly subscription for said server, which likely also contributes to a dwindeling multiplayer population as new communities cannot be made without the owner paying a price, unbeknownst that people will even join his community which makes it a costly thing to get into. (For short, you cannot expect this game to still be alive over 2 years, the game has clearly dropped in population a lot, From hundreds of thousands at release, to tens of thousands halfway, to thousands a few years ago, to a mere 200~ now during weekends)
for all the reasons above, i have refunded both heroes of stalingrad and rising storm the next day as i heard rising storm vietnam is even harder than stalingrad due to the foliage.
Wrote all that to just explain "skill issue"
@@theShermanator Goed dat het dan weekend is hé?
@@valyshknee4203 haha lang weekend zelfs!
@@theShermanator ja genoeg tijd om het kijken naar jouw video's waard te maken.
Oh geez I remember playing this with my friends we would get home after school on a Friday and play all the way till Sunday afternoon. It was so fun! I miss it so much!
glad to see 13 years later ppl still playing this game i remember begging my mom as a 12 year old to buy me this game telling her that it was a gritty game but i was also learning about history ww2 communism the cold war ect ect ofc that was a load of shit and i just wanted to quickscope a russian with kar98k still have this in my library
and i tried going back a few years ago and it was fun, but the bots and same old maps burned me out fairly quick. ro 3 would be awesome tho. i just couldnt get into some of the later tactical shooters like i did with red orchestra....
Red orchestra, hidden and dangerous, and now hell let loose are the only ww2 games i like. I never find a damn match in ro2 lol. Like all the time theres like 60 people online xD
ugh. ya rising storm 2 was awful. the maps were just terrible and there were so many calls in you would spend half the game respawning...
when rising storm 2 got out i was thinking it was a new rising storm but no, we got vietnam yikes, i did play it and liked it but red orchestra and rising storm are so much better and im still waiting for a new red orchestra with more theaters
I would love another RO game man
I've almost always been a console gamer (Xbox), so I never played this game.
I bought RO2 when it first came out, played it a LOT, then I played RS after I preordered it, both were golden games that I remember playing on a cruddy lap top in the summertime.
one of my first games I got on PC back in the day. asides from battlefield 3
was just playing yesterday, miss its prime time. i wish people would populate older games again with how bad recent modern releases have been
I miss the prime time days so bad
Can't understand why the doofuses at Tripwire won't return to this franchise.
But I feared the game is probably dead at this point.
its a great game for sure
i love this game but in my pc (msi bravo 15) crashes a lot!!!
What kind of questioning is that ?. My dude, the game is a masterpiece. What I like about the game, is that the factions and political ideas have no room, it is just good old fashion PTSD, surviving and killing everything that moves.
lots of people arent even familiar with it, which is a shame
had my greatest multiplayer matches on HoW mod for RO2
6000 plus hours in this game. Never played any game as much as this one... even til this day. Its such a shame that RS2 was many many steps backward with the gameplay. RO2 was amazing
So, Sherman has a 250k RUclips chanel, so why we still play in number of 250 players over the world!? MAN DO SOMETHING!!!!
lmao the game is 15 years old basically, sadly doubt its gonna happen
still a good game, but i feel like that a lot of people sleep on the Darkest Hour mod for RO1. Active dev team, gets updated often and they recently announced an italy faction and maps. Especially nice as Mare Nostrum is completely dead.
Fair, fair, I never got into RO1 or DH mod sadly, I should tho..
they should just make it free to play
Man I wish, that would be great!!
Brilliant game but Hell Let loose is the spiritual successor to RO2
Man i wish I played more of RO2 back in its heyday
I’m dumb rn and can’t remember the studio who made the game but their games are the best realistic shooters out there. Rising storm 2 is great and I love them all equally.
Tripwire!
Red Orchestra 2 is a top notch shooter and fun to play even today, doesn't feel dated at all it handles just that well. Shame it's basically dead.
Id argue its still alive, just at certain times, but its very much so!
THE best WW2 FPS period. Shame Tripwire is more interested in milking Killing Floor...
but we need RO3 :(
Hell Let Loose?
I think have similar vibe and good gameplay
But sure RO2 still nostalgia
HLL is somewhat similar but a lot more running and less shooting imo
should I get the GOTY edition or just red orchestra 2?
Play Project Reality, its still getting huge wwii updates
Hell Let Loose feels like Red Orchestra 3 to me in some ways, but maybe more like if RO and Squad had a baby.
Great to see you shine light to red orchestra! hope the third one comes soon ;D
Tripwire are garbage company. Project 83 is the game coming from the devs of RO2
Shitwire only published it
playd squad44 and Hell let lose for over 200h and they are not even close to the atmosphere in Red Orchestra 2
100% agreed
servers are up?
100%
no, not worth it, nor rising storm 2 vietnam
RO2 for under $5 is amazing 100000%
@@theShermanatorthe game is good, players who play it not so much, bunch of tryharders sniping you from across the map, i did like 200 hours back in 2016 but never tried it again
This game is awesome, I just wish I had played it back in the day when it was more popular.
still real fun!
I used to play this and RO1 all the time, good times. Do they still have the Danzig map in rotation?
@@crowsbridge i dont know sorry
Hero's of the West was fantastic ! I still play RO
HLL it's full of blue and green dots on the screen, it feels like playing HALO.
its kinda a shame, but if you turn them off ur at a huge disadvantage
im yet to find a single game that does combination of realistic combat and arcade gamemodes as well as orchestra 2 does
it is a lost art
@@bananaborn4785 so true man
DUDE I USED TO PLAY THIS A LOT! ESPECIALLY THE BRIDGES AND PAVLOV MAP!
Druzhina is where defenders got ptsd and attackers even more so
They are doing Killing floor 3 atm. Thats why there is no RO3 in the making right now. I am pretty sure, after KF3 is stable and has content, RO3 is comeing in like 26/27.
maybe but I doubt it sadly
@@theShermanator i am prerry sure 🤞🏻
According to sells the RO and RS made them good money
Long overdue for RO3, fingers crossed but won't get my hopes up.
ikr
This is the game that launched my love of the more hardcore genre of shooters, especially those that are more historically accurate. Great to see such a fantastic gem of a game continue to get coverage, played a few months ago and had a lot of fun. Bloody tragedy aboout what they did to Antimatter and this IP by its new owners. Best WWII game ever made if you ask me.
You should cover darkest hour for red orchestra, its an outstanding game with new content being added constantly and a growing player base
Waiting for ‘83 rn
im excited for it
Bro which server do u play in Ro2 I mostly Play Bridge Jumpers
I have been on there before
For some reason all guns feel very powerful and fun to shoot, which is probably due to the sound engine.
what this game in 2011 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲 ???the scope open like real life

@@AbdullahSTAR1 such a good game huh
In terms of physics, realism and atmosphere, it's still the best WW2 fps ever made, and I say that as a HLL player
I only miss the huge amount of custom maps in RO2. RO1 had immense amount of modded maps
