I eat gluten - free 24/7 , 7 days a week , 365 days a yr cos I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease when I turned 52 and found out 4 days before my bday . And for over 20 yrs of eating and getting sick and all that time it was Celiac Disease that was misdiagnosed , the entire time . I converted my granny's 200 yr old banana bread that was made on a wood cookstove to gluten free and nope U cant tell its gluten free .

That's insane that you lived with it for that long without knowing. It sounds like you've got it under control now, thankfully!

Please be aware that gluten is not just in wheat products, but also barley, rye, and sometimes mixed in with many oat products because they share a facility with other gluten products.

I'm one of those people who always stayed away from gluten free because it seemed kind of boring and excluded tasty dishes. Thank you for dispelling that myth. What wonderful ideas you've given us! I'm definitely going to try these recipes. 😁 Never did I think I would ever try something like you just gave us. But starting with the pumpkin oatmeal bake is a wonderful way to go! And I even bought a new canister of oatmeal so I'm half way there! ❣️
And I have dried beans and sweet potatoes so that takes me further into the plan. 💕
Now for something using quinoa. I picked up some last week when I visited the DT Plus. That day I couldn't see. 😑
My eating has been poor to none the past couple of weeks. I won't eat for a whole day and then I'll try to eat something the next day and it's not much better.
I had a coupon for a free hamburger so I stopped on my way home from pool therapy yesterday. I got my free hamburger, ordered a small fry and received my free senior drink. I always cut my hamburger in half so I'm not holding a soggy bun. I ate half of the burger, a few fries and drank some of my drink. I was stuffed after less than half of my lunch. I packed it up and took it home for dinner. So I ate for the whole day for around $2.00. It wasn't the best choice but most of it was free. I'm usually hungry when I get out of the pool but I don't always feel like going home and cooking. I guess you could say it's a good pain I feel after therapy but I still have trouble standing to cook when I get home. But this is what I need to work on. I'm going to try some of these recipes and even make them ahead and have them ready for when I get home from therapy.🤗
You've definitely inspired me! Thank you for sharing these recipes and giving us some good food for thought! 🥰

That's the way to eat cheaply! And the fact that you know when to stop eating is HUGE. A lot of us have no filter and will just eat until we overstuff ourselves.

@@NoGettingOffThisTrain I had my gallbladder removed about 3 years ago and now my liver has to work overtime. I recall a few months ago when I ate too much at one sitting and I was so miserable. I don't even remember what I was eating, it was definitely good, but I got so sick and I just remember thinking I would never do that again. And I really haven't had a problem since.
And this is why my sister and I often share a meal when we go out to eat. Neither of us can eat a full dinner anymore.
But once you've gotten sick from eating too much, well that's all it took for me. And the cutting the burger in half trick is a good way to control what you eat.
Also using smaller plates helps control your intake. I eat meals out of bowls a lot and I have certain sizes for different food. I even have a really small bowl I use for ice cream, it keeps my portions smaller.
      Enjoy your weekend!

Theres absolutely no reason why someone who is not celiac should avoid gluten. While grains are an essential part of the diet and the challenge to being celiac is replacing this need.

I will take what is probably a controversial opinion and suggest that gluten free is, for many people, simply another trend they wish to follow.

I agree, and I think that's part of the reason there are so many labeled gluten-free items out now. I've heard actual Celiacs say that they're thankful for these people though, because now they have more delicious options they can actually eat. =)

Hi! It's called "Pumpkin puree" or "100% pure pumpkin". You can find it in cans in most grocery stores in the U.S., although they're more regularly found in the Fall.
