This is an exclusive never before seen interview backstage of
New Edition at the American Music Awards circa 1988. Filmmaker Keith O'Derek pulled this footage out of his archives.

I watched an interview were Mike reminded the guys Rizz wasn’t always the lead singer, it started off with Ricky singing lead at Ricky’s house.

Well you are absolutely CORRECT. BBD have let the fans believe that the trademark is the issue when it's not. Actually Ralph and Johnny offered BBD to join as long as they didn't use the NE name without ALL 5 members(bobby isn't an active member) present. They declined that offer and let the fans believe Ralph and Johnny simply wouldn't let them use it. NONE of them are making money from it. This caused the fans to constantly harass Ralph and Johnny on IG. The TRUE reason Ralph and Johnny aren't there is because one of the members of RBRM did something inappropriate. It's pretty bad too. Ralph refuses to work with that person. Understandably so. Johnny chose morals over money!
Biv is the same way now and then...same personality and mannerisms. They were mature beyond their years.
NE started so young in the music business, they had to grow up fast to deal with the ups &. Downs of the music industry!!

BBD is pissed but looking at the movie I get what they were going through with Ralph trying to go solo that was a pivotal moment in the their lives.
Well he said I because they didn't do shit. He recorded all of the main and back vocals. Hell he's lucky Ralph didn't say fuck those lazy ass mf's.
I mean, he was doing the brunt of the vocal work, though. That's not say that was BBD's fault, but he wasn't technically wrong in saying "I". And even still, he eventually caught himself and started using "we" statements, so there's that. lol
PNdotCom Well technically in the beginning Ricky was the lead singer not Rizz. It was Ricky singing “holding on” at all the concerts, Maurice was the one who made Ralph the lead. Mike was never friends with Ralph, that was Ricky’s homeboy who he brought in his group. So technically Mike always felt Ricky got done wrong when Rick started out as their lead singer. BBD made it all right though.
He was doing a solo project because of THEIR actions though. They caused that shit.
