- Ride along the William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Rail Trail with the Tinkering Turtle and his wife on their Himiway electric bikes.
The William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail State Park is a paved, 22-mile trail passing through rural, forested lands. Scenic overlooks and picnic areas are located along the route.
William Field turned the old, dismantled railroad in the 1980s into what is now a recreational trail. A trail rich in history, winds through farms, orchards and forests that fill the area. The Montague end of the trail can be picked up next to a campground on White Lake. From there, you will pass the world’s largest working weathervane, Christmas tree farms, the Clear Springs Nature Preserve and the village of New Era. The Montague Trailhead can be found heading west off of the US-31 Montague exit.

The trail goes on farther North for about 1/4 mile, that's where the museum, restaurants, lake, parks and shopping were at... Downtown Hart really is the gem of this Rail Trail. Try to time it during the asparagus or cherry festivals, 4th of July...or late September when the colors on the leaves start to explode. You will have a great time and won't regret this trip. - Joe (Austin Tx)
Great tips thanks!

Glad to hear it!
We just have to enjoy the ride. Be sure to subscribe!
@@TinkeringTurtle I already am i cant wait to get my first bike, Haven't been able to afford one just yet but im counting the days till i can take this biking journey with you guys. I cant wait to see more videos!
Too funny can’t tell you how many times I have done that! Really like the relive app.
Right?! It happens...
Not sure if you have seen the Michigan Trails Magazine. It comes out every Spring. I got a couple of copies this Summer at the GR airport for free. Some bike shops sell them. Lots of great information.
I’ll watch for it, thanks!
I've done this trail several times - very nice and smooth compared to the Musketawa Trail. The colors a few weeks ago were beautiful.
Nice Video
Totally agree!
Thanks for the comment, subscribe for future videos!
I was wondering where you wife went. lol I can hear her. So happy to watch you guys having fun,
She likes to ride behind me so I can set the pace and check the intersections.
@@TinkeringTurtle I don't blame her, I would too. Unfortunately my husband passed away a little over 7 yrs. ago. My first husband passed away back in 1990, the dad to all of my children. So I hope my daughter gets one and maybe the other ones will follow. One out of 6 girls so my odds are pretty good. lol Well I hope so anyway.
Nice ride learned some things wife and I considering purchasing e bikes definitely be checking out trail link
Right on, glad you enjoyed it!
Incidentally, you sure have a beautiful place to ride! I live in California, the only place I can think of is in Truckee near Lake Tahoe that might be comprable.
We are very fortunate here in Michigan, number one for our exceptional outdoors. But even more for the fact that, in our area at least, the local governments have put in tons of bike paths. So we have lots and lots of miles to play around on.
Thanks for all your comments today, I have enjoyed talking with you!

I was wondering if you used the same amp battery throughout the total ride, on both e-bikes if the energy consumed was the same?. Your wife must be 125 lbs lighter than you? What was the battery consumption on your bike vs.hers?
Great question. Since my wife has the Himiway step-thru and I have the cruiser. We both have identical batteries. We switched batteries at the half way point. And I rode back with hers and she rode back with mine.
The overall ride was 45 miles or so, and we got back with “bars” to spare. But I definitely go through more power than she does. Even with us switching she had more power at the end than I did.
Just curious, what is your PAS setting for each of the 7 levels you have set?
I left them at the stock settings. You can find those levels in the manual on the last page (17).

Hey Tim, can you give me your opinion on the Bike Helmets you and your wife are using that has the Bluetooth communication so y'all can chat back and forth? The video of you two using it wasn't that clear and you said so due to the video or something. What helmet is it and all that good stuff, do you have a link, so you get a credit or something? Thanks.
Hi Paul, the helmets in this video are the R1 Evo’s.

They are excellent! They completely change the dynamic of the ride for my wife and I. Instead of riding at the same time, we are riding together. They have, if I remember correctly, a range of up to a half mile with line of sight. Not that you would be that far apart. And they have excellent wind noise cancellation. Unless she turns her head sideways I don’t hear any at all. Even then it’s minimal. They can sync with your phone so you can answer calls, listen to music or even the radio. Although the Mesh intercom will not work while doing those things. The mesh intercom is “always on” and hands free.
I also have the Sena R2 evo’s, they are a little more expensive but have a few additional features…number of helmets sync-able is unlimited, I think. You can look into that.
Either way both helmets come highly recommended from me!
I hope this helps!
@@TinkeringTurtle That does work well, good review. Too bad, so sad the rider is unable to be listening to some tunes and then someone in the group or my wife says something, and it just goes very low or something cool like that. Oh well, waiting patiently on the Magicycle Ocelot Pro for my bride, I just pray she can adapt to it, handle it and have fun with our little eBike group. Thank you for the prompt reply, Tim, be safe.
@Paul Shaar It would be cool if the music would go low during intercom like the turn by turn directions in my car. But regardless I love talking with my wife while riding. And it works as a safety feature too. I can watch out for cars and intersections and let her know what to watch for.
Good luck with your wife’s new bike!
When u strapped ur bikes in going around the front did u use any straps around the back tires as well and did they ride securely
Thanks for asking.
I angled the front tires into the corners of the bed and strapped the handle bars in the front. I didn’t put any straps on the back, and they didn’t move.
@@TinkeringTurtle thanks any luck at all my bike should arrive before Christmas 🤞
Nice 👍
What was that you were using to talk to your wife?
Did you get a Sena helmet?
@@TinkeringTurtle How do you like that helmet? Is it worth the price? Good vs Bad?
@Paul Shaar well worth the price. My wife and I love them. I would definitely re-purchase!
