I think he knows exactly why he wrote the lyrics he did for this album. He just doesn't ever like explaining them, be always wants to leave them up for interpretation. I think they put a lot of thought and experimentation in this album. The lyrics are definitely from a place he doesn't want us to know about.
I think the take-home message is that they didn't dwell over the message daisy was getting across. This video seems like a great explanation of it. The album certainly comes across as raw and the forces that created it were just that.
i love daisy ! my advice for anyone who is not sure if they like it - play it everyday once a day for 15 days and then youll see the intricacy of the songs beneath the crazy exterior.
I noticed the bass player was looking at me when they were in Richmond the second time. I was kind of in the back, so it's like he knew I was there and he was making it obvious. It's kind of funny he was able to see me in the crowd. Jesse didn't really look at me. At least, I didn't notice if he did. He was busy singing, though.
@kakakatie04 yeah these ppl are noobs. i can dig his style for sure. at least hes not flashy or douchey. hes wearing a flannel and jeans. looks good. besides the fact that every time i listen to his voice and music on headphones and jizz myself.
So you're saying the only way music can be good is if the band just sat around and thought about the concept? Daisy seems like more of a cathartic experience where it just came to them and that should show a more intimate connection to the music than some pretentious douchebags making up some ridiculous concept and making the entire album fit that criteria.
I don't understand why everyone thinks this is so awesome... Brand New's lyrics and song meaning have meant so much to me for the last 10 or so years. I just feel like Daisy was put out to see how many people would bite the Brand New hype. It is ok, but when the artist tells you there is no meaning behind a song/album it is hard to feel like they care.
stupidllamas maybe the meaning is just that they were like "Hey we like these chords, these riffs, this drum rhythm, these lyrics, etc., let's put it on the record." After putting out an album like Devil and God that is so complex and thematic, maybe they needed this to restore balance or something. Who knows? But not everything has to be super meaningful, you can find your own meaning in it.

Regarding the lyrics, after learning that Jesse Lacey preferred to jack off with 14-year olds on Skype, you can say that again.
Well then Rick. Well then...
Lol
cause i made little lies and then i pulled them apart think something dark is living down in my heart
That is the most I have ever heard Jesse talk at a show...ever.....
you should see the videos of him in an acostic show in seattle. its really sweet, its like brand new just hanging out with the small crowd
First thing I noticed was the Mcr record on the wall
"The rumors are true this is last album" oof im so glad it wasnt....
Daisy is an absolute masterpiece
UGH IM GOING TO MISS THEM.
Daisy is my favorite album of theirs and I've loved them since the beginning. Judge me.
I think the take-home message is that they didn't dwell over the message daisy was getting across. This video seems like a great explanation of it. The album certainly comes across as raw and the forces that created it were just that.
he killed it with that last line lol
+Eric Fisher It expresses the theme of the entire album.
i question everyones sanity who likes devil and god and can't grasp daisy
I grasp it just fine. Its just not as good of a record as tDaG. not at all.
You must be too vacuous to grasp the charm Daisy has that TDAG doesn't
Jesse is so dead-pan, I LOVE IT!!!
He's definitely more of a musician than a frontman...which strangley makes him the most interesting "frontman".
BRAND NEW FOREVER.
I love how you can actually hear Kevin's little distinct laugh at the end, after Jesse says he's in stitches... :') Love them.
This made me smile so big! :D
Yea Art Therapy. You guys are talented. Love the CD...Glad you took the risk. Come to BoSTON! -Claire
he was coming up with a filler chorus for At The Bottom** quickly since he's playing an acoustic version
can I play halo 3 with brand new?
i love daisy ! my advice for anyone who is not sure if they like it - play it everyday once a day for 15 days and then youll see the intricacy of the songs beneath the crazy exterior.
I don’t think most people understand the depth of what Jesse is really saying in his lyrics
@blackdove18 Everyone? No this is an INDIE band they wear INDIE clothes...flannel shirts being awesome... they are a major staple of indie fashion.
Awe, what a sweet man. (:
Garrett looks so adorable in this video. Aww. (:
❤ Jesse Lacey
Believe it or not 99% of artists (regardless of medium, be it literary, visual or musical) will say the exact same thing.
"what does that meaaaan" cracked me up xD
D: I live like 20minutes from here can they come back now
and who could blame you?!
if i were a guy, i'd still be in love with him.

Woah is Devine actually pronounced like divine, I've been saying it like deveen...
agreed.
Kevin Devine was there?!
I got a little scared when he said it was the last record.

fuck why must it end there
lol i think he is genius but why is he ALWAYS in a (or THE) plaid shirt??
Ok that didn't really explain the meaning of Daisy. If anything that basically stated that Daisy doesn't really have any meaning.
