I just looked at some numbers from other golf youtubers with a 21 degree utility and their average spin was in the 3300-4000 range so you’re not too far off. Their obviously were some low spinning ones like in the 2700 range but the averages were close to yours
Do a blind coffee taste test. Get three or five different brands of coffee that includes Dunkin' obviously and see if you can pick it out ... Bet ya can't 😎👍
Got a Callaway Xforged UT bent to a 1 iron with a 130g X100 shaft in it and an align grip. It is so much straighter than a fairway wood for me it's absurd. Great stuff!
You should do a part 2 on the grass range with these clubs with also putting a graphite shaft on the Callaway for a comparison. 👍👍 Keep the awesome vids coming.
Per Wilson's literature, the Wilson Utility is designed to have more stopping power and not roll out as much (as in going for par 5's in 2 and holding the green). Hence the higher launch and slightly higher spin rate. That's what club was designed to do.
Great content man! Family friendly, my son and I love to watch u crush it. 2 irons are awesome, takes a lot skill. Keep hustling, 100k subs before u know it
love the simulator session, go in to test a couple things in the bag and you always gotta juice the last few w/ each club to see what you can get out of em haha
I'm new to golf but determined to get my iron play down. A driving iron is perfect for my home course and so much more versatile than a wood. I daresay it looks better than a wood, too.
You should check your 4-iron distance vs. your 2-iron. Your current Apex irons are strong lofted and your 4-iron is actually 21* as well. Typically the driving irons spin a little less, but might still be worth checking out just in case.
For the loft of 21* the spin isn't too bad, I would expect it to be in the mid 3000's. Not sure what flex the shafts are, but if they are stiff an x-flex will help reduce the spin if that's what you want. Otherwise its just loft, one degree less will get it down in the 3000's more consistently. The 4000 rpm spin for that loft and low trajectory will help you hold greens, a 21* hybrid is very similar in spin, but with a much higher ball flight. Great ball striking! A driving iron off the deck isn't for everyone, but you make it look easy
Stoked you did this video. I personally utilize a hybrid and 3-wood combo and have been wanting to go to a 2 iron. I’m running into the hybrid and 3-wood getting the same distance (265-275 carry) but less accurate with my 3-wood and having 2 clubs that close at the top end is pretty pointless.
Micah, you might like the Srixon. Also, I think you should try out using an extra stiff nice shaft like a graphite design with some of these heads. Swing is looking niiiiice!
I recently purchased the KBS Prototype shaft to stick in my driving 3i after watching you hit yours over the summer. Going to replace the standard X100 shaft currently in it. Also the Wilson will go higher because of the larger head and weight positioned lower in the head with that weight at the bottom. Some folks need the bigger easier (as much as you can for a 2i) head than a thinner profile one. The Callaway is made to be able to launch low, run and work both ways.
Crazy idea just get a graphite shaft for the Callaway. But personally I'd stick with wilson. Yes I'd love to see more comparisons, especially on new cobra f9 sz one length irons. My wife got me a new set for Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
This video was great Tig! Love the club comparison, simulator videos. Also, loved the few fast-paced 9-holes you did on your own, especially when you kept the camera on the ground behind you. These are $$$.
I put the wilson staff 18 degree in the bag. There are a lot of great options in the 2 iron market. The shaft feel was definitely the differentiator for me! My bag now goes driver, 2,3,4 iron etc...feel it gives me more flexibility
Tig I know money doesn't grow on trees but I really think you need a full bag fitting. You're too good of a golfer to not have every single club dialed directly in. Personal research only goes so far without being able to test every option available. Even just seeing your driver fitting proved how much it can help. I think that wilson is perfect for you, but it would be worth testing a few other shaft options. I think really taking the time to piece together and gap everything in your bag will be worth it in the long run. You're one of the best ball strikers on youtube, and getting your distance and dispersion all together would take you to a whole other level. Keep up the great work bud! Love seeing this content.
GOOOOD-NISSS! not sure what’s better: the swing or the commentary, but both are great! I wonder if I could pound a 2 iron 3 hundy if I drank dunkin’ coffee.
Merry Christmas and Many Many More Blessings to continue to you and your bride, and the rest of the Good Good Maniacs! By the way, your putting has come a long way, and give me hope. Lol
Classic Tig-ism right there..."I dont know a lot about numbers and whatnot..." 😄 You're a beast bro, just keep hitting it solid and don't worry about your spin its A-OK at your speed. Spin at or under 3k would hook so quick if its not flushed.
Their is not an ideal backspin. It is an ideal combination of launch and backspin which puts it into an optimal trajectory window. If u have 1 iron u like and know the ball flight outdoors, the best way is to compare the 2 like u are doing. I would recommend taking in your own golfball, too. U could use a lower spin ball or a higher spin ball to get to ur desired shot and roll interaction. Lowerspin ball is srixon z-star or titleist -prov1x left dash. High spin ball is tour b330 xs. Tiger likes a lot of spin.
Project X shafts are built for a lower ball flight, more penetrating this is because it is built tighter at the bottom of the shaft which allows for that lower ball flight. KBS are built for that slightly higher ball flight.
Tig, very jealous of your swing. Just curious if we can get face on shots. I struggle with a sway that zapps power from my swing and you seem to remain consistent from your set up to contact.
If you look at the Wilson head with more mass, a wider sole, the weights, and more surface area, it makes sense that it launches higher with more spin and is more forgiving and goes farther. Those are good characteristics in long irons where the smaller head and thinner sole are good in short irons where you want to shape shots and are already easier to hit because of more loft. You have a super dialed swing with your 2 iron. Most amateurs should never even be trying to hit one, but you are just butter with them! Not to mention hitting them almost as far as my driver lol.
It’d be a bit of a drive for you but check out 1611 golf club they have an excellent simulator facility using trackman. Plus it’s BYOB and bring your own food so it’s budget friendly for the more casual golfers that see this in the DFW area
Its good to see you take a more in depth look at the specific aspects of the clubs, can only assume that your contact with the professional that helped select your driver? Guess seeing your progress and sharing it with your audience might could possibly help them open their minds and change their views on possibly doing the same and occasionally finding locations that have the ability to show them the figures and help them improve their games farther by not just the repetition of hitting 100 balls at the range? lol Talking about balls when are you going to compare different brands of balls that may suit you better in regards to longer distance vs more control of ball spin or flight control? lol
honestly man, it would be really interesting to see a part 2 of this video where you swap heads and shafts. e.g. what if the higher launch and more carry isn't the wilson, but rather the graphite shaft?
Unfortunately he probably can't switch the shafts due to it being glued in, as far as I know the Cobra Utility is the only adjustable driving iron. But the higher launch and more carry definitely is the combo of the wilson head plus the shaft. Theres a larger CG on the wilson head causing it to launch higher and spin just a tad more, its probably the most forgiving driving iron on the planet. Plus im assuming thats a KBS hybrid shaft which is a mid launch/mid spin shaft. Where as the Project X is a low spinning/low launch steel shaft. I like a very low spinning driving iron so i can run it, but I dont use it much unless it's off the tee. P790 UDI with a HZRDUS smoke shaft creates the perfect low spinning driving iron.
@@volcomsnow25 yes, it can be done. just take 'em to a club fitter who will heat 'em up with a blow torch and pop the heads off. it's a very easy job, just takes a day or so for the new epoxy to dry.
@@volcomsnow25 You can do most with a simple heat gun, ive only had two clubs that I've had to use a torch and both were old ping putters.. You can also get a 30 minute cure and 5 minute work time two part opoxy and have them back together in no time. It so much easier than you would expect lol.
@@brianlowery5343 yep, heat gun or blow torch. however, i wouldn't suggest the DIY route with graphite because it can easily break (e.g.) unless you have a shaft puller.
when I was younger my grandfather used to say to me if you’re ever stuck on the golf course in a lightning storm ⛈ just grab your two iron, .........even GOD can’t hit a two iron🤷🏽♂️🤘🏼. GREAT VIDEO !
You should rotate these clubs based on conditions. On windy days the Callaway might be the better option to keep it low. When it's wet and you need to carry a bit more, the Wilson would work.
Love the vids Tig. Can you make a video of what your yardages could be if you swing as hard as possible. For instance, Kyle Berkshire hitting a 300 yard carry with an 8 iron.
No matter what 2 iron you have in your hands it's just pure.
Truth
Facts
It's a driving iron/ utility iron... not a 2 iron
Your connection with the Wilson staff is legendary, can't wait to see the numbers

Dope club. Just picked up the 18° to replace my 5 wood. Best decision yet. Fairway finding machine😎
Got a Callaway Xforged UT bent to a 1 iron with a 130g X100 shaft in it and an align grip. It is so much straighter than a fairway wood for me it's absurd. Great stuff!
Always amazed at how smooth your swing is. Its effortless and you hit it so far. Love the videos!
Micah is the most humble person. He make a good amount of money and he still wears inexpensive shoes. Keep up the good work. Loving the vids.
What I like about Micah is that he is committed to improving.
You really ought to try the ping G410 crossover 20° driving iron. I bought it over the Wilson, I just love it. I'd love to know what you think.

loving your channel micah. love the fact you are doing stuff on your own and no silly stuff. Pure golf channel love it

Just got the Callaway on Callaway preowned for only $100, so pumped! Love the vid
You have the best vids out of anyone in good good
I play vintage Hogan 2 irons!!! These new driving irons are nice but nothing beats a forged classic as far as feel and control!!
Stoked you did this video. I personally utilize a hybrid and 3-wood combo and have been wanting to go to a 2 iron.

I have been thinking about putting a 2 iron in my bag for the shorter par 4s and this vid helped me.
Reviews and comparisons are always great. G'jab.

OG 2 iron inbound! Love the vids Micah
The video i needed. Thank you Micah!
Great video, Micah. I was wondering g if you do any stretching or any other warmup before you start playing.
Best feeling to see you post a new video!
when I hit my 2 iron perfect it is around 3500 spin and 12 degrees of launch. generally carries 275-280 and sometimes rolls to 300
Try to get a callaway driving iron with a tensei pro white in it, a good low spin shaft, another good option is the hzrdus
I love these kind of videos
Keep up the good work
I’ve got a Callaway X hot pro 3 iron strengethened to practically a 2 and I love teeing off with it
Tig, very jealous of your swing. Just curious if we can get face on shots. I struggle with a sway that zapps power from my swing and you seem to remain consistent from your set up to contact.
Keep both.
If wind is high then put the Callaway in the bag
If the wind isn't too high then use the higher launch Wilson
Love the content man! Keep it up I can’t wait to see the progress you make!
280 from a 3i (21* is definitely a 3) is awesome! What is the clubhead speed on these I wonder?
i cant say exactly but i think bout 112-115mph
awesome balanced swing, secret to Tigs power is ? I would say obliques?

I love that man bun... this was very interesting Micah. How about a comparison with 2 iron vs 3 wood.
Was just looking for a 2 iron , so it's like you read my mind!!!
I recommend trying out the srixon zu85 2 iron. Pure.
keep the grind going Micah! I enjoy your content
You should check out the Titleist 2 iron with the HZRD X-Stiff shaft
try playing with the weight in the Wilson to see if that changes things up a bit. maybe get the best of both worlds

I'd like to see a comparison of the Sim and Titlest drivers!!!
At work sipping coffee watching Micah fire off two irons on the sim... nice easy night shift😎
Always love the content! Inspired for sure.
The legend hitting bombs as always👏 keep up the good work Micah
For beginners the ping crossover 2 iron is sweet I love mine
when I was younger my grandfather used to say to me if you’re ever stuck on the golf course in a lightning storm ⛈ just grab your two iron, .........even GOD can’t hit a two iron🤷🏽♂️🤘🏼. GREAT VIDEO !
"cooking with goose oil" hahah love it
You should hit the new UT X forged, it has a hazardous smoke graphite shaft option.
You should rotate these clubs based on conditions. On windy days the Callaway might be the better option to keep it low. When it's wet and you need to carry a bit more, the Wilson would work.
I’m calling it now, I’ve been here since before the Dunkn sponsorship!
Tig! If you ever get the chance, try the Srixon Z u85 utility iron. That club is a beast!
Love the hat.... what do you shoot?
I have a carbon rx-3!
I think you hit that Callaway pretty damn good!
What ball do you play? With your speed you may need to be playing like an AVX or some other spin reduction ball.
Nice video Tig, You make me want to start a golf channel and document my own game.
Like this bro .numbers are incredible 🏴👊🏻
Why didn’t you get the Wilson staff model irons as well?
I think Callaway offered to send all the good good guys irons
Man I’d pick the callaway for sure. Lower launching is ideal for a 2 iron. Plus plenty of distance
Kindly do more of equipment reviews and comparisons.
Dude I have a Titleist U510 2 iron and its an absolute rocket! U think you should compare its less forgiving version to your current 2 iron
I’ve noticed you wearing a Bass Pro cap and Hoyt. Do you hunt and fish also?
The Mrs' has got me that same wilson staff utility iron for Xmas. I can't wait to take it out on the course
