Hey Barnacules, I hope you see this message, I'm the manager for a computer and phone repair store. I just so happen to get a new toy of a laser machine made for removing the rear glass of the new iPhones. Apple decided they wanted to use heat resistant glue so you cannot simply heat the back off for removal, like you can with androids. I would absolutely love to fix that cracked back for you! I've followed you for years and since you provided so much information to me that I'd love to give something back! I'll cover all repair and shipping cost if you are interested.
I can confirm this. The laser machine, mixed with replacement back glass that has a larger hole for the rear camera is the cheapest method for replacing it. I have done several by hand with a heat gun, the heated plate method at 250 C°, the laser machine, and full frame swaps. I personally liked the frame swaps like they do at Apple as it is easier to reseal the phone but for cheaper the laser machine does great.
I wish people wouldn't get so upset when I re-share some old videos when they are so helpful to new people that didn't see them the last time I shared them. I wish people would think more globally and not so much just from a single perspective. I get that it's hard though! I'm glad I could save so many of you $1.

Dude please, you're a smart guy, surely you know apple doesn't support repairing devices, they'll tell you that you need a new frame, logic board and digitizer, that's what they do. Check out Louis Rossman on RUclips
Another thing Microsoft done is remove 5.1audio output from some hardware. I can't enable 5.1 audio out on the optical out on my MSI X470 Gaming plus. I can't enable 7.1 audio on my TurtleBeach Z260 either. Until Windows 10 1903 I was able to enable 7.1 audio on my headset but the option is no longer there. I tried different drivers for my motherboard audio but I can't enable 5.1 audio on the sound out. Its just showing stereo out when I select configure audio.
@@citycultivator2101 My original post said it was removed from "SOME" hardware. I did not say all hardware. I had DTS and SOLBY Digital Live with my old Asus Xonar II soundcard with 1903 too but thats a PCI card and my new motherboard doesn't have any PCI slots

just use our old traffic cone friend, VLC. It's made from a country where it isn't illegal to distribute decoders, and, although they say that you are supposed to pay to the people before playing any H265 content, you can just kind of ignore that one entry in their manual page. lol
VLC is amazing and even linked in the video description. However, the built in codec supports HDR which I use down stairs playing back stuff on the Windows Store netflix app and the Movies & TV app and plus it heavily utilizes the GPU which I found VLC was a bit more CPU heavy out of the box. But it's still amazing and I recommend it to anyone that can't figure out what codec they need. I would stay away from the K-Lite codec packs though, they tend to drag down performance and cause issues with Explorer when generating thumbnails.
@@Barnacules I have no issues using any version of MPC including K-Lite Codecs. Not sure what you mean by drag down performance, since it's the fastest video player i've found (only one that can play back 1080p HEVC videos on a celeron laptop smoothly, VLC cannot on the same machine and video)

You don't need this codec probably ever. Just install LAV or any half decent video player: PotPlayer, MPC-BE (-HC), ... these either come with bundled LAV or ffmpeg in them or you can reconfigure them to use what ever codec you want, such as LAV, these support any CPU and GPU for software and hardware decoding of up to 8k HDR 60fps VP9 even if your hardware decoder supports it or your CPU is monstrous to deal with that. VLC is meh, never was good and has it's endless quirks and issues. There are other free players with decent hardware acceleration built in but they tend to be "simple", mpv etc. This M$ crap HEVC codec supposedly doesn't support even 10 bit LOL, who the hell records HEVC in 8 bit? Even AVC was 10bit for good encodes. Movie & TV, worthless as is this codec when compared to other options that are free and have been around for over a decade now. Unlike old times you don't need to bother installing 3 different codec packs to get it all, now you install one video player or one codec (LAV for example) and they do it all including latest HW accelerations for as many codecs as possible, with selection of how much you want HW accelerated even.

I'm a linux guy so h.265 is free by default. Codecs should never be sold at any price at all. Removing a codec that is becoming widely used (even by myself) its just amputating their own operating system. I use h.265 on OBS and I use h.265 on my phone to record videos. I do have to state I'm dual booting Windows and Linux. So..Why exactly did they think removing a standard codec would be a good idea!? Windows has more than many problems but now they're just adding it. (Also not related but 1 out 3 Windows updates, it removes my grub bootloader. If it keeps going on, I don't have the time to re-install grub each and every time so what will end up happening is just me leaving Windows overall. Only time will tell.) Also thanks for letting me know about this evil trick they did, I'll get the codec for free and battle against their stupidity.

I ♥ this comment since you're the first person to show the configuration changes to get MPV to utilize hardware acceleration and multiple threads which isn't on by default. That being said though it still won't do HDR or Dolby Atmos.
Has this method been blocked already? I can get in, see the page fine. Click get, nothing happens. Tried multiple times on multiple browsers, with and without VPN. Absolutely nothing happens when I click get. I am on win 10 64 enterprise. Will keep working at it. UPDATE: I got it to work on my home PC, then dug some more. My business PC has win 10 enterprise ltsc. Ltsc does not have the ms store. To download and install, apparently you must have the store installed. Otherwise a browser keeps throwing flags saying it can't reach the page, or the ms page won't download due to the missing store. So, installing the store worked. I was able to get the codec to download and install fine. I hope this updated info helps someone else..
if you didn't get it before the change than no you wont be able to get it for free since i was one of the lucky people to that where i dont have to pay for it
He's uploading in 8k wich propably helps alot and what you said. He's propably not compressing the shit out of the material before uploading it. Good settings too.
Because he is uploading in 4320p. If you upload 720p than original has usually already artifacts and with the YT re-encoding its gets worse. Better source quality trickles down to the downscaled versions.
Because I scaled it up to 8k first and tricked RUclips into using far less compression on lower resolutions. The downsize is bandwidth used and processing time sucks.

This no longer works. I have been adding this to Windows 10 Enterprise until today. It now wants you to redeem a code. Is there a way around this. The more micosoft degrades its product the more I want to move on from Windows altogether. This is total BS.
It's actually still possible to download the codec for free. Just search google for adguard microsoft store and click on adguard store. Then copy the link from the microsoft store page and paste it into the website and download the first appx file for x64 (was the 4th one for me) or whatever your architecture is. Then open the downloaded appx file to install it and then you should have the codec installed.
Honestly Microsoft can suck the big one and I can't imagine working there. Sadly I have to deal with Microsoft products at my company, and the hate just keeps growing. I want the company to crash and burn. I doubt someone will actually bother reading my random list of rants, but it feels good to just type it and get it off my chest. For a moment imagine just how much money this company is making. They charge big money for every product, yet somehow their software is still garbage and is hidden behind layers and layers of paywalls. I question the competency of developers and their will to do a good job, or pity the stress to meet deadlines. Neither which benefits the end user. Anything they show at Ignite is just smoke and mirrors. Half the articles I read seem like Cinderella stories with a happy ending. In my experience, nothing ever works the way it is supposed to. Concepts with nothing to back it up that either get implemented and then later scrapped, or stay in the twilight zone. Everything they do push to the public however, is always in alpha stage. They had OneDrive for Mac uers without files on demand. Want to use Windows Autopilot in 1903? Can't do that unless you have an english OS or bake your image with latest updates. They put time developing useless functionality nobody uses but the most basic features are always missing from their products. Go to any microsoft forum where you can vote on ideas and read the most popular suggestions, you will be amazed. Shared inboxes in your phone? Nah, we'd rather put the time for X you will never see or use. Want to create a dynamic group email for all users that have a certain domain name? No dice. Office is still a joke where I have to use addons or VBA macros for for basic functions in Excel. I've had to go back to 1080p screens for users just to avoid scaling issues on 4K resolutions. Exchange/Outlook still can't handle more than one or two shared inboxes and at most 6 months worth of email in your .OST without slowing, laggning or crashing when opening emails. OneDrive creates duplicates of files and has a bunch of sync issues and can't even handle deltas. Windows 10 pro costs as much as 200$+, I should at least have the option to not have to live with the bloatware and spyware. I'd be at least somehwat happy if Brian Eno made some system sounds that don't clip and rape your ears, because they somehow even messed up the soundscape in Windows. Administration for anything looks like it's still stuck in the early 90s (also looking at you´Sharepoint sites) often in 10 different places. Powerapps is useless for building anything but a hello world app because you can't reuse any code blocks without complicating your code. Skype as well as Skype For Business is super unintuitive. Luckily you can use Teams which is an will remain an empty shell for nothing more than sharing a file or chatting that they are probably pumping millions into. Intune creates clones of your devices in Azure AD and is riddled with different gotchas. Flows are messy and incomprehensible that require hackarounds. Licensing is ridiculously confusing with anything from, Office 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E3 ,Windows E3 are three different products amongst many, many others that will give you a headache. All with pricing that makes no sense for businesses because getting the things you need seperate is still better than getting a package. Everything feels layered and tacky, hacked and smashed together, built upon a rotting code base. I've known a company who scrapped Microsoft and PCs for using chromebooks and the google suite and saved tons of cash. It sounded hilarious to me at the time, but then the more thought I put into it the more sense it made to me due to most of everything being on the cloud anyways. Problem with the device? Here, have a new one with all your stuff and you can instantly be productive with almost zero cost.

Sir this is not working as of today 7th Oct 2020 it is asking for Redeem Code, i guess these guys have shut the hole last month as i can see that people who have used the same trick in the month of Aug & Sept 2020 were able to successfully do it.
Which I find super annoying because I'm about to do a fresh install of Windows once the October Update becomes available to download via the Microsoft Tool. And I do need that codec, as I record gameplay footage using HEVC from my AMD card and then edit it in Davinci Resolve.
That’s actually pretty disgusting of Microsoft to do. It was already shipped with Windows 10 to begin with. Why remove it and force us to pay a dollar to get it back. I know it’s not that big of a deal, with it being one dollar, but my gosh, this is just a shady business practice. HEVC is the way of the future for videography! 😄

VLC can play HVEC since a long time and it's free. There's no reason to ever have to deal with the windows movie&tv app.

That's bizarre, I'm still able to get 5.1 working with a Realtek chip

You don't need this codec probably ever. Just install LAV or any half decent video player: PotPlayer, MPC-BE (-HC), ... these either come with bundled LAV or ffmpeg in them or you can reconfigure them to use what ever codec you want, such as LAV, these support any CPU and GPU for software and hardware decoding of up to 8k HDR 60fps VP9 even if your hardware decoder supports it or your CPU is monstrous to deal with that. VLC is meh, never was good and has it's endless quirks and issues. There are other free players with decent hardware acceleration built in but they tend to be "simple", mpv etc. This M$ crap HEVC codec supposedly doesn't support even 10 bit LOL, who the hell records HEVC in 8 bit? Even AVC was 10bit for good encodes. Movie & TV, worthless as is this codec when compared to other options that are free and have been around for over a decade now. Unlike old times you don't need to bother installing 3 different codec packs to get it all, now you install one video player or one codec (LAV for example) and they do it all including latest HW accelerations for as many codecs as possible, with selection of how much you want HW accelerated even.

I'm a linux guy so h.265 is free by default. Codecs should never be sold at any price at all. Removing a codec that is becoming widely used (even by myself) its just amputating their own operating system. I use h.265 on OBS and I use h.265 on my phone to record videos. I do have to state I'm dual booting Windows and Linux. So..Why exactly did they think removing a standard codec would be a good idea!? Windows has more than many problems but now they're just adding it. (Also not related but 1 out 3 Windows updates, it removes my grub bootloader. If it keeps going on, I don't have the time to re-install grub each and every time so what will end up happening is just me leaving Windows overall. Only time will tell.) Also thanks for letting me know about this evil trick they did, I'll get the codec for free and battle against their stupidity.

On the one hand, I think it's stupid that companies put glass backs on the back of their phones. On the other hand, don't feel sorry for anyone who doesn't put their phone in a case.
i like my phone without a case. why make it thinner if you stick a 3mm case to it? often you can't even see the back of the phone, considering how flashy they are making them nowadays

I ♥ this comment since you're the first person to show the configuration changes to get MPV to utilize hardware acceleration and multiple threads which isn't on by default. That being said though it still won't do HDR or Dolby Atmos.
Has this method been blocked already? I can get in, see the page fine. Click get, nothing happens. Tried multiple times on multiple browsers, with and without VPN. Absolutely nothing happens when I click get. I am on win 10 64 enterprise. Will keep working at it.
UPDATE: I got it to work on my home PC, then dug some more. My business PC has win 10 enterprise ltsc. Ltsc does not have the ms store. To download and install, apparently you must have the store installed. Otherwise a browser keeps throwing flags saying it can't reach the page, or the ms page won't download due to the missing store. So, installing the store worked. I was able to get the codec to download and install fine. I hope this updated info helps someone else..

He's uploading in 8k wich propably helps alot and what you said. He's propably not compressing the shit out of the material before uploading it. Good settings too.
Because he is uploading in 4320p. If you upload 720p than original has usually already artifacts and with the YT re-encoding its gets worse. Better source quality trickles down to the downscaled versions.
Because I scaled it up to 8k first and tricked RUclips into using far less compression on lower resolutions. The downsize is bandwidth used and processing time sucks.

This no longer works. I have been adding this to Windows 10 Enterprise until today. It now wants you to redeem a code. Is there a way around this. The more micosoft degrades its product the more I want to move on from Windows altogether. This is total BS.

It's actually still possible to download the codec for free. Just search google for adguard microsoft store and click on adguard store. Then copy the link from the microsoft store page and paste it into the website and download the first appx file for x64 (was the 4th one for me) or whatever your architecture is. Then open the downloaded appx file to install it and then you should have the codec installed.

Honestly Microsoft can suck the big one and I can't imagine working there. Sadly I have to deal with Microsoft products at my company, and the hate just keeps growing. I want the company to crash and burn. I doubt someone will actually bother reading my random list of rants, but it feels good to just type it and get it off my chest.
For a moment imagine just how much money this company is making. They charge big money for every product, yet somehow their software is still garbage and is hidden behind layers and layers of paywalls. I question the competency of developers and their will to do a good job, or pity the stress to meet deadlines. Neither which benefits the end user.
Anything they show at Ignite is just smoke and mirrors. Half the articles I read seem like Cinderella stories with a happy ending. In my experience, nothing ever works the way it is supposed to. Concepts with nothing to back it up that either get implemented and then later scrapped, or stay in the twilight zone. Everything they do push to the public however, is always in alpha stage. They had OneDrive for Mac uers without files on demand. Want to use Windows Autopilot in 1903? Can't do that unless you have an english OS or bake your image with latest updates.
They put time developing useless functionality nobody uses but the most basic features are always missing from their products. Go to any microsoft forum where you can vote on ideas and read the most popular suggestions, you will be amazed. Shared inboxes in your phone? Nah, we'd rather put the time for X you will never see or use. Want to create a dynamic group email for all users that have a certain domain name? No dice.
Office is still a joke where I have to use addons or VBA macros for for basic functions in Excel. I've had to go back to 1080p screens for users just to avoid scaling issues on 4K resolutions. Exchange/Outlook still can't handle more than one or two shared inboxes and at most 6 months worth of email in your .OST without slowing, laggning or crashing when opening emails. OneDrive creates duplicates of files and has a bunch of sync issues and can't even handle deltas.
Windows 10 pro costs as much as 200$+, I should at least have the option to not have to live with the bloatware and spyware. I'd be at least somehwat happy if Brian Eno made some system sounds that don't clip and rape your ears, because they somehow even messed up the soundscape in Windows.
Administration for anything looks like it's still stuck in the early 90s (also looking at you´Sharepoint sites) often in 10 different places. Powerapps is useless for building anything but a hello world app because you can't reuse any code blocks without complicating your code. Skype as well as Skype For Business is super unintuitive. Luckily you can use Teams which is an will remain an empty shell for nothing more than sharing a file or chatting that they are probably pumping millions into. Intune creates clones of your devices in Azure AD and is riddled with different gotchas. Flows are messy and incomprehensible that require hackarounds.
Licensing is ridiculously confusing with anything from, Office 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E3 ,Windows E3 are three different products amongst many, many others that will give you a headache. All with pricing that makes no sense for businesses because getting the things you need seperate is still better than getting a package. Everything feels layered and tacky, hacked and smashed together, built upon a rotting code base.
I've known a company who scrapped Microsoft and PCs for using chromebooks and the google suite and saved tons of cash. It sounded hilarious to me at the time, but then the more thought I put into it the more sense it made to me due to most of everything being on the cloud anyways. Problem with the device? Here, have a new one with all your stuff and you can instantly be productive with almost zero cost.

Dolby Atmos is put simply a binaural audio booster.
What I don't understand is what's the difference it make with Windows Sonic.

It's a dolby surround audio codec. It decodes Dolby shit.
@@noscopesallowed8128 I'm not sure either, but as far as gaming goes, Windows Sonic's just fine. My Unreal Engine game project that utilises Steam HRTF Audio system still outputs binaural audio fine with Windows Sonic.

Sir this is not working as of today 7th Oct 2020 it is asking for Redeem Code, i guess these guys have shut the hole last month as i can see that people who have used the same trick in the month of Aug & Sept 2020 were able to successfully do it.
Which I find super annoying because I'm about to do a fresh install of Windows once the October Update becomes available to download via the Microsoft Tool.
And I do need that codec, as I record gameplay footage using HEVC from my AMD card and then edit it in Davinci Resolve.
Still don't know why they felt the need to remove the codec and sell it for just 1 DOLLAR! WTF
That’s actually pretty disgusting of Microsoft to do. It was already shipped with Windows 10 to begin with. Why remove it and force us to pay a dollar to get it back. I know it’s not that big of a deal, with it being one dollar, but my gosh, this is just a shady business practice. HEVC is the way of the future for videography! 😄
