I am thinking to go with my daughters of 12 and 14 on holiday by bike to Harwich ( coming from the Netherlands). Could you please tell me if the roads are safe for cycling with children in Harwich? Are there nice cycle lanes in nature?

There are cycle paths from the Ferry to Harwich town but not easy to find without GPS. I can recommend the website cycle.travel for cycle route planning. The National Cycle Network routes are mostly safe but not to dutch standards. If you catch the foot ferry with bikes from Harwich town I believe there are nature reserves on other side of river. It is a beautiful estuary.
Edit: I was suggesting catching foot ferry to Felixstowe, which is not the prettiest place but has facilities. If you are after nature then I think there is a less frequent ferry to Shotley Gate, which I think has more nature, fewer cars but probably no cafes and risk of not being able to catch ferry back.
