new to this channel and while the sound of the guitar is THICC - the whole flow of how you work with an idea, from the drums to bass to melodies just blew my mind. I really did not know that you can automate so much stuff in the DAW directly. thank you!
Florida friend here, me and mine made it through okay but the rest of the area is in rough shape. I feel I can speak for everyone in saying we appreciate the shoutout and kind words, thank you❤
Dude I was just going to say, one of the things that drew me to the channel was you playing the kit. Was blown away by how comprehensive your talent is. Hopefully you can get that area set up!
I personally could care less about aesthetics, watching you play the drums is so interesting and provides for a much more dynamic and captivating video as a whole I think
Your reaction to that split coil tone is why I exclusively use the split bridge sound on my schecter reaper 7 for heavy stuff. Holy fuck the punch and definition it gets
It's wild just how much the cymbal groove makes a difference to the feel of a riff. Killer! Also, I was wondering why the e-kid hasn't been featured as much, and the explanation is the most musician thing ever😂😂.
Rhythm tone is great and all, but that lead tone really has that Ashen-vibe going for it! please list the full signal chain, including every single parameter (in percentages) and then provide the name of your first pet, and then click on the all the traffic lights to prove you're not a robot. thank you in advance!
Helpful tip for bass programming jumpy parts: you can convert sound audio to midi notes from guitar, drag & drop an octave, then you're set. Minimal work needed if something is off.
Sick Nick! Dude I have an 8 string Kiesel with the lithium’s. Love the guitar but as it’s my first 8 string I have been having issues with that low 8 tone wise. So gonna copy ALL the shits you got with dem chimichangas. I’ve got all the tools you have except for a few of dem plugins. Spank you very much.
For the drum cam angle have you tried a top-down angle? kinda like the drumeo videos use? might be hard to set up but seems like an angle that captures everything even while being in a weird spot 👍
Dude I absolutely love your videos! You gotta tell me the specs on your guitar cause when you said the tone is 50% from the guitar I 100% believe you lmao (that splitcoil voicing). I had lots of moments where some guitars just sounded phat and chewy from just the plugin and some that needed processing/reamping and all that jazz. Keep up the good work! You also look very much like my bassist in one of my live projects! 🤣
Hello Nick, love to see how you built op youre songs! I think that is for me a key to learn this type of Music. I have a request, could you mebay take it further into guitars/tunings and string thickness? I'm curious what you can advise on this. Greets
Could you give us a rundown on what equipment you’re using for software, computer, audio interface, etc? I think that would be really neat! Also, happy TRT riffers 🤘🏻
This always makes my Thursdays that much better. Dude - did you see the new Dream Theater track on RUclips? "Night Terror" - so looking forward to the new album and the tour.
Nick! What kind of drum pad is that? I see you use it all the time, and I'm sitting here poking around on my computer's keyboard. Love everything you do!
Is it something possible to know how you wire your quad cortex to your interface ? I have a quad cortex and a focusrite 6i6 and i just have a dry signal when i used my quad on cubase via usb. Ps i Love watching your video so much to learn
I'm going out of outputs 1 and 2 of the QC into inputs 1 and 2 on my Apollo Twin. If you want your printed tone, you might need to change the input on Cubase. Check the QC manual to see what to set it to!
Honestly it's pretty specific to this tone but the general idea was to just high pass, add some dynamic bands in the low/low mids to handle the palm mutes and then subtly address the high mid harshness with a couple thin cuts
HABITUALLY CTRL+S (in your case COMMAND+S). This sure could benefit from a nast organically sourced bass and tone, kinda like that clunky stuff Varials do 😕.
My brother in Christ, your sick tone is only 80%, what is the other 20%? Imagine if you had used 100% of the tone. You would melt the face off the internet, exposing the true colors of the universe we like to hide behind our eyes. But you missed by 20%. I would love to hear the other 20%, I know it would make it that much more chewy.
lol man almost lost the project, gets saved by autosave, and STILL doesn't save. Bold move bro
😅
she thick on my riff cause it's thursday
*loud buzzer noise*
💀
@@flufficornss hey you didn't specify it's the incorrect buzzer so I'll assume you meant **loud correct buzzer noise**
She Thursday on my riff til it's thick
literally just went "oh its thursday, need my thicc riff" and this just posted
The light bulb turning when you say "I have a thick riff idea" is perfect 👌
Totally unintentional 😂
The groove in that first riff is very John Browne reminiscent. Sounds sick asf dude
Please just always keep making videos
Always so inspirational watching you create and build riffs/sections
He inspires me every time and then i spend 4 hrs on my daw barely making anything thinking... HOW IS THIS SO HARD?.... : D
thanks for the kind words man!
Same, this video inspired me to write a thick riff today
That guitar lead has made Demiurge by Meshuggah vibes just down an octave. Super sick

thanks dude! Glad you're enjoying the content 🤘
maybe the perfect guitar tone was the friends we made along the way
😭
💥
Dude logic autosave is the greatest feature ever. Especially when working on a laptop that can barely run a project.
Always something inspiring in these videos. I gotta find a tone like that!
Thanks dude!
Florida friend here, me and mine made it through okay but the rest of the area is in rough shape. I feel I can speak for everyone in saying we appreciate the shoutout and kind words, thank you❤
I have said this before, but thank you for helping reinvigorate my love for logic
Glad I'm not thr only one who wants super bright percussive tone, yet bearable for ears 😂
I really enjoy your "mixing/creating new sounds" part of thr process. Every fresh idea is valued ❤
That drums is exactly what I needed to hear on this part, just a heavy kick-snare that makes the guitar so groovy.
The lead is Meshuggevil :)
that tone is verbatim 'living in tragedy' by currents. sexyyy
You should share this preset on the neural dsp cloud!
Dream theater take the time is on the top of the list man
Man the Vader sounds so percussive, sick af
i instantly jizzed my pants. this "the mirror" breakdown with the lead guitar is insane. doesnt even sound like a rip off
☹
2:58 Oooooh, that is SO Wolves Within right there.
im stealing this whole format for an intro. with my own twist of course. but maaaan, that whooole riff gave me stank face.
Fun fact at 11:04. Actually i think that preset 1D named "Petrooch McGooch" in Russian means Petrucci is Mighty!)
Петруч Могуч 😂 💪
🤣
Nice episode, man! That Dream Theater inspired mirror riff, sounds so cool I just wanna jump around moshing🤘🏼
Always masterclass level content with Nick 🔥
thanks for the very kind words dude!

Got home from my cousins funeral and can’t sleep, thanks for helping me take my mind off everything nick
Man, my deepest condolences. Sending love and strength to you and your family.
@@nickbroomhallmusic thank you my brother ❤️

Full name and bank account too, please 😂😂😂
😂 I'll probably upload it on the Cortex Cloud!
just a consideration at 11:53 but can also flip the stereo switch to maintain that width in the printed cortex track.
Feels very After the Burial to me and love it
11:10 huge new spiritbox vibes
The best riff so far!!!
The second half is giving Meshugga
You did it man
What a tone!
Thanks dude! 🙏
Wild how my boy can be featured in a guitar magazine and still only have 36k subscribers. People are absolutely missing out.
He has a bigger following on IG but yeah I agree
Bruhhhh. This week slaps. 🙌🏻
Thanks dude!
8:37 my man hit the Bonecracker riff
Juicy Juicy from a fellow green machine player haha
Another banger from the main man
haha thanks man!
awesome tone is awesome! Looking forward to the next one!
thanks dude!
thick boi this week again

I'll have to try this out!
Here's Nick, with another one of those chewy jumpy-ass riffs again!
Hey Nick, could you do a video on Quad Cortex Bass sound?
that tone is chewy
That tone is straight 🔥
Sounds great!
thanks!
Bruh the Elden Ring health bar on the rainbow wheel 🤣🤣🤣
I know I'm in for a bad time when I open my computer and I see the elden ring fog wall
You should make the templates for other daws. Always sounds amazing
I plan to!
This is the tone I like too. It reminds me a bit of the orange terror video.
(it's the guitar lol)
Dopeeeeeeee
dude you need to start a discord community if you don’t have one yet. so many people would chill and cook up in there fr
I've thought about it!
@@nickbroomhallmusic you should do it bro, I for one would spend hella time cooking up in vc if you start one
THIS. DO IT
bro always has the tastiest chewy riffs ever
thanks bro!
yup. lemme throw some more synthys on there. 😎

Got my Quad Cortex yesterday and one of the first things I did was try this tone lmao
I love watching your workflow. I always learn so much. What software are you using for those synth presets?
Might be the best tone you've ever done ... and that's saying something
haha thanks dude!
Argent synth FTW

0:23 😳"Well, damn. It really is perfect."
hahah thanks dude!
Steaaaaaaaling
It’s chewy alright

Apollo x6 + Twin X, MacBook Pro M3 Pro, Logic Pro X!
Bogner Ecstasy 101B = Chewy....I always use that word to describe that head
I miss the drum cam 😥 sweet tone though I've been trying to make something like for a while but I'm tonally challenged
Creambacks are so underrated for heavy tones.
almost losing a project you forgot to save is devistating
This always makes my Thursdays that much better. Dude - did you see the new Dream Theater track on RUclips? "Night Terror" - so looking forward to the new album and the tour.
Yes!! Really enjoying it so far! Portnoy being back is a gamechanger for sure
@@nickbroomhallmusic Absolutely - that kit in the video is MONSTROUS!
Thick riff volume 2 👀 where
Keep thinking you're playing 'Holy Diver' lol
once again tickled silly nick
Nick! What kind of drum pad is that? I see you use it all the time, and I'm sitting here poking around on my computer's keyboard.
Love everything you do!
Thanks so much! It's the Alesis V49! Not the best midi keyboard I've ever used but it gets the job done!
You gonna scare some dad's out there, that are looking for "the perfect tone" for their 80's Inspired soft rock garage band.
😂
Hahah ngl I was expecting some angry dads in the comments but nothing yet 🤷♂️
Do you have a video of your exact drum processing?
Good god. I knew I should have went cortex instead of axefx

GGD PV with a blend of Modern & Massive and Invasion!

Next riff thursday right the bass part first
I did this on episode 64!
CHEWY
Pickle Time
Make the Logic praising section a reel please 😭
I have an older Mac and logic just lags. What are you using to reduce the latency and have a higher CPU
Can we get a sick riff where we focus on the bass?
i need those DOOM synths PLEASE BRO
