The way I see it, the portal gun in portal 1 was built directly into the game-engine using C++, with many different systems changed or added in order to accommodate it, e.x the security cameras in vanilla portal 1 can only be destroyed by a portal. GMOD add-on portalguns are LUA based. They often use trickery in order to achieve the effect and sometimes leave alot to be desired. Like bigger objects failing, etc. Implementing the portal 1 code into gmod would break alot of things. Portal 2 runs off of a much newer version of the source 1 engine, same as L4D2 and CSGO. I imagine the models can be backported and slapped onto the portal 1 entities, getting them to work in gmod would probably be easier than getting the portalguns to work in gmod
To my knowledge.. the version of Source that Portal 2 and the Stanley Parable use are fundamentally different from the versions that Portal and Half-Life 2 (and Gmod I would imagine) use. I may be misremembering something, but I do believe that is the case, and would likely be to difficult to import to Gmod without editing the engine itself, and breaking basically every addon on the workshop, so probably not?
For TF2, maybe some of the entities might work but otherwise they probably wouldn't be able to add the bots or weapons. For CSS, they actually used to have the weapons included, but it was unfortunately removed for unknown reasons 😔
@@VrejGamingI didn't know the CSS guns were in the game at one point Also TF2 and L4D2 use a bot system, nextbot that afaik doesn't exist in gmod. TF2 has it's own version called TFBot. Oh and don't forget the different attributes TF2 has for items and behaviours.

You can't transfer anything, everything you see is made from scratch. It will be a no from me, it would take months of work, and I have no interest The community can make it 👍

This is literally the biggest thing to happen to Gmod since Gmod 13 baby!
💯💯 Aside from scripting changes, this is one of the biggest changes
on top of that, glados's voice is fixed, the test elements are fixed, and everything is normal (exept the flubbin portalgun)
Seeing the half-life 2 npcs next to the portal npcs really shows how different they are.

a mod already did that years ago
and because of the cores having no use, that's the reason why they haven't been added in the first place
A mod has to remake them from scratch, whereas this is based off of the original C++ classes

the portal gun was added to portal by modifying Source drastically so you'll probably need to use a mod

Yup, at this point most of portal should be playable by just downloading a portal gun mod
Could be interesting seeing CSS stuff added, I see no reason why they couldn’t add the guns, and the cs bots would be very neat to see in gmod
Tf2 may be a bit much to add given how many weapons there are.. but it’s up to Facepunch to decide what to do with Gmod

Those packs were being worked on by another developer, not me, but I do know that they aren't actively working on it at the moment
