Currently about to close on a house in Chicago the bank lender made me pay off all of my collections before I was approved all of them were over two years old and it did raise my credit up 10 points each one that I paid off

If you do, pay it in full because many people don't realize that settling for less than what's owed becomes a tax liability, which means basically taking on another debt.
I’ve always heard it’s veryyyyy important to pay utilities because if you move anywhere they may block you from getting the lights/water turned on and the fees are higher or you may need a co-signer😏
I paid all collections with the understanding that it would be fully removed from my credit report. As a result, my credit score increased by 65 points.

I applied for credit and was denied because of a $1400 debt in collection. Last week, I got a letter from an attorney of a debt collector asking that I pay or risk lawsuit. I’m paying it off next week. I want to buy a condo in a year or two and will be paying off all credit cards and work on improving credit.

Hey Shaheedah, hope you and family are well. Thank you so much for who you are, and all you do. Question: As a new buyer (or anyone). Can you shield your mortgage information upon the Title Company transferring the mortgage to court records? Preparing to go to settlement in a few weeks. I do not want my mortgage/ownership to be visible to the public.
Great question, who owns a property is public record in every state. So what you would have to do is buy it as an LLC Or transfer into a trust. Ask the attorney or title company before you close. Thanks for watching and congrats!
What should I do if my debt has been recently transferred to a collection agency? Should I still settle the debt, or should I request a pay-for-delete agreement to remove it from my credit report?
They won’t be able to delete it since the loan has just been transferred to them. It hasn’t been reported on my credit report yet. They purchased the debt from another company two weeks ago. Do you think it’s a good idea to negotiate the debt and still try to get a pay-for-delete agreement, or should I not worry about it and just pay the debt off?
In order for me to get a pre approval, I needed to pay off two collections and ask to have them deleted from my credit report, which they refused to do so. I was then instructed by my lender to pay the original creditor directly, and file a dispute on the collection agency, which I did. All they did was report it paid and closed with a 2 point increase. I’ve just decided to go and rent a house instead because I have been trying for 3 years now and still can’t buy a home. I feel so defeated right now.
Don’t give up sooner or later the day will come, but it will have to be dropped. It won’t stay there forever, so just have faith and dream you’re on your house just believe.
They are treated differently than other collections, any collections under $500 will not show up on your credit report, paid medical debt will not be reported even if paid late and anything higher than $500 cannot be reported until after a year has passed. www.cnbc.com/select/medical-debt-credit-report/
I value my credit and take it seriously. An apartment complex turned me over to a collections agency and 100 points were subtracted. I yet have a 700 score and dont feel i owe the complex anything. The C. A. calls almost daily. I dont answer. What is a good recourse to take at this point? How do i dispute, if necessary? It's been a year. I've never been late paying them rent. They charged bogus incidentals after leaving, of which i am not in agreement. What do I do?
Hey I have had a creditor or collection company report the same debt twice in one year diff times a diff amounts and accnt. When the original debtor which was Telus already reported it one 3 or yrs ago. That’s 3 times one debt. That effects huge. How do I get that removed and I feel debtors should not be allowed to sell the debt and collection conpanies should not be allowed to report a debt on the bureau in my opinion. I am in Canada also I don’t know how it goes in the U.S
When it reaches collections, it usually means that the original creditor has charged it off and sold it to another company. So you could see both companies on your credit report the original creditor and the collection company. Get your credit report to see what is on there. www.annualcreditreport.com/yourRights.action
Hello Ms hill. A year and a half ago I purchased a scooter through affirm for 200 dollars and got behind on payments due to school. Eventually it went to a debt collector and my credit score stopped at a 736 7 months ago. What should I do? Pay the collector? Call them? Idk what to do lol please help, I’m 20 and I’m trying to get my first apartment in December
736 is not low, you shouldn't have a problem getting an apartment. However, you should see if you can "pay for delete" and get it removed from your credit.
Shaheedha, they add interest in Nevada to your collectjons. I only owe 500.00 but now im at 532.00.. I tried to negotiate it but they wouldnt budge. Also Shaheedha they didn't let me know about the debt until 2 years after I I left the apartment I lived in. They said it would take 3 months to come off my report, once I paid it off. My credit is still good. They told me they couldn't negotiate with me until the debt went to 1,000. Then the guy said they would only remove 100.00 once the debt went to that 1,000 I have over 700 score, should i worry about it? Thanks Shaheedah 😊
I probably wouldn't worry about it. It may not be impacting you much. If you are trying to buy a house the lender will let you know if paying off this debt will have any impact.
How does this relate to charge-off accounts on your credit? I have 2 voluntary repo charge-offs (1 is 5 yrs old and the other is 2 yrs old) and I’ve been hearing mixed reviews on whether or not I should pay them. I heard charge-offs cannot get deleted prior to statute of limitations if they’re accurate & they hurt your credit almost as bad as bankruptcy.
It really depends on if it is stopping you from getting a new credit, for example if you are trying to buy a house, they will tell you if it is necessary to pay them off to get approved. If it is not necessary you may just want to wait them out as overtime they will impact you less and less.
I wholeheartedly recommend *creditqueenreonna* to anyone seeking a credit fixer who is not only knowledgeable but also truly cares about her clients' financial well-being. 0:01
Please I have a negative balance on my paypal account. Will that affect my credit score if they sell it to a collection agency? Its below 300 dollars. I do want to pay it but i can't because of account limitations.
It will probably impact you negatively if they report to the credit reporting agencies. Check the paypal guidelines to see when they report negative balances.
@ShaheedahHill I called the customer support agents, and they said it won't affect my score, I just have to clear up the negative balance after it's been referred to collection. They don't sell debts to collections but work hand in hand.
What is your opinion on legitimate credit repair companies that your mortgage lender refers to? Score was not in good shape for a mortgage when I applied. My lender referred me to a mortgage. Credit score repair company. So far my score has went up maybe 38 points.I’m still waiting for it to get around 680 where I would qualify
If they referred them to you they likely have experience with them so they might be better than some that you find on your own. Also, mortgage companies do have credit simulators that tell you what you need to do to get your credit up on your own. They should recommend that first before you pay a credit repair company. @crming7151 Thanks for watching! My husband received court papers from a debt that's over 70 years old. He had cancer, receives s.s, works 1 to 2 days a week and is paying a mortgage. If these collection try to freeze his bank account, they will have a problem with us!
There is a limit on when debts can be collected, it varies by every state. here is a god article to read regardng old debts. Many blessing and I hope for a full recovery for your husband. www.consumerfinance.gov/ask-cfpb/can-debt-collectors-collect-a-debt-thats-several-years-old-en-1423/
Question. I had a loan that went into collections and fell of my report 7-10 years later. I thought i was done with that. Now, i have a new collector wanting money from me again after its fallen off my credit! My question is, can they do that? I was told to not make contact bc if i do, it starts all over again. But do i need to tell collections that its been 10 years and they can no longer ask me for money? Do i desput it? What do i do?
Not everyone knows that they no longer have an obligation to pay so some debt collectors will still call you to try to get something. I would send a letter and keep track of dates if they still contact you, you can also tell them your have reported them www.consumerfinance.gov/ask-cfpb/how-do-i-get-a-debt-collector-to-stop-contacting-me-en-1411/
Hi, Mrs. Sweep, Thank you for your videos. I have a collection that is about 5 years old, collection company is sued me and now they are increasing the amount of debt every week. Is there any way to stop it?
You always can negotiate with the collection agency, but be careful and beware of the statute of limitations in your state for how long they have to collect the debt. The debt may be about to come off of your credit report in 2 more years.
Removing a negative item from your credit score will typically raise your score unless it is really old and was not impacting your score much anyway. @PrincessFulgado-bd4gv Thank you for watching
My cousin was involved in an accident. Driver told her no problem. Later on they came back on her. Credit collector told her. She will have pay $150 every month. She owed them $6,000. If not her license will be taken away from her. First of all she got laid off from her job. She cannot pay her rent or other bills. Is there any way. She can get this resolved.
She probably needs an attorney to help her since it involves her license and not just her credit. Also, she should contact her auto insurance company, they would have covered this. @wannellalawson4001 Thank you for watching
Awesome info. I just noticed that a agreed pay to delete is still on my credit report. It’s not affecting me getting credit but it’ did affect me in getting a high APR on a credit card. How can I get this off?
What about medical debt I noted a collection in amount of $2500 for medical bill which is under collection it was reported on my credit in Dec 2023 and now I’m noticing my score has been lowered I’m so mad because I have every single payment and my score was good and now it is impacting me
There were a lot of changes made regarding medical debt in 2023, you may want to settle for a lower amount and all paid medical debt is removed from your credit report. Here is some more information - www.consumerfinance.gov/about-us/blog/medical-debt-anything-already-paid-or-under-500-should-no-longer-be-on-your-credit-report/
Thank you for this information,, but I would like to ask you something, if I get charge off, do I need to still pay for this debt to whoever buy this debt from de creditors?? Or better if I do after getting charge off do I need to do bankruptcy??
It really depends on the amount of the debt if you need to consider bankruptcy. Once the original creditor charges it off, you would need to negotiate with the collection agency.
You would have to negotiate that with the creditor prior to pay off and make sure you get it in writing that they will take it off. It is called a "Pay for Delete". Thank you for watching.
I got a collection notice for a medical bill for only 75.00. My Kredit Karma score is still above 700. If I pay it right away, does it get reported for this amount.
Medical bills under $500 should not be reported under a new law. www.bankrate.com/personal-finance/debt/do-medical-bills-affect-your-credit/#:~:text=That%20said%2C%20medical%20debt%20under,%2C%20you're%20not%20alone.
Love your videos. Asking for a friend…what if the credit card company sue you by serving you papers at your door steps along with the proof of debt & everything the person owe ..is it still necessary to pay off what they are asking for ? I know in some cases bank accounts can get garnished if the company have a judgment against you … educate me please
This is not legal advice - They could possibly garnish your wages if they win a judgement against you in court. They usually are not allowed to garnish is you are on a fixed income like SS, VA benefits or if the garnishment will not leave you a reasonable amount to live on. You should seek legal advice and they can see if you need to pay or if they can settle the debt for a lower amount. If you cannot afford an attorney go to legal aid in your state - www.lsc.gov/about-lsc/what-legal-aid/get-legal-help If the amount of debt you have is really large you may want to consider bankrupcy as an option as well.
No the bankruptcy and the collections will likely still remain, but check with the person helping you file your chapter 7 to be sure. But is really doesn't matter as far as your credit, you score will be lower once you file.
Hi and thank u for ur content! Would u please consider creating a video on how to remove credit history (from being an authorized user) off one’s report, if the owner of the card either has late fees or high utilization? Thank u
Print out your credit report, call any company where you were added as an authorized user and ask to removed. It should be as easy as that. Thanks for watching
Hey love the video just became a new subscriber.. .. i had a car loan thur capital one i made my payment always on time for the 4 years of my loan payment i got locked up for 3 months when i got out i end up catching up and end up paying the car of but on my credit report it still shows the 3 months of non payments even tho i already paid the car of will i b able to get those 3 months of late payments removed even tho the car is paid off already? ?
You can try to dispute those late payment and since it is already paid off capital one may not respond. Reach out to them first to see if they will remove without you needing to dispute. Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel!
I wholeheartedly recommend *creditqueenreonna* to anyone seeking a credit fixer who is not only knowledgeable but also truly cares about her clients' financial well-being. 0:01
The original creditors already charged the debt off so you are likely only able to pay the collection agency. But you can contact the original company to verify
It depends on if it will stop you from getting approved for a mortgage or getting the rate that you desire. You may want to get approved now and plan for the future. You can always negotiate, lower amount- "pay for delete". Here is a good video on how pre-approval works: ruclips.net/user/livecpewL4OlpjQ
Hello, I have a question about my credit card. I got a credit card with a $300 limit and the minimum I owe is $17.91. It says: “Minimum Payment Warning: If you make only the minimum payment each period, you will pay more in interest and it will take you longer to pay off your balance. The table is based on your standard minimum payment and does not include any past due and over limit amounts. For example: If you make no additional charges using this card and each month you pay ... only the minimum payment You will pay off the balance shown on this statement in about... 1 months And you will end up paying an estimated total of ... $18.00” Do I pay $17.91, $18.00, or more than that to avoid interest? And is it best to pay by the statement date or the due date? Or do I split it into paying half by the statement date and the other half by the due date? Also, would it be best to use my credit card every month?
Pay the entire balance due before the due date and never let the balance owed go over $30 since you will get the most credit score help when your balance owed is less than 10% of your available credit. Don't over think this, pay your bills on time and pay the entire balance, you don't have to pay more than what is owed. @kindree5414 Thank you for watching

Typically not the bank but the collection agency can. Once they sell it to a debt collector, they will not still try to collect from you. @Ajdsworld Thank you for watching
What if I contacted the creditor and not the collections agency and asked for a paid to delete but they said it’ll just reflect a 0 balance on my credit ?
@OscarHernandez-qn6db Thank you for watching - they no longer have the debt they wrote it off and transfered to the collection agency. You now owe the collection agency.
I had a credit card go into collections because of a medical issue stopped me from paying. I felt guilty about not paying the card so I paid collections.
What if one collection reports the debt with wrong dates then it’s removed and another collection agency contacts you via email for the same debt different date

What should I do if my debt has been recently transferred to a collection agency? Should I still settle the debt, or should I request a pay-for-delete agreement to remove it from my credit report?
Try pay for delete AND settle for a lower amount. Remember they bought the debt for 10%-20% of what you actually owed.
They won’t be able to delete it since the loan has just been transferred to them. It hasn’t been reported on my credit report yet. They purchased the debt from another company two weeks ago. I’ve just decided to go and rent a house instead because I have been trying for 3 years now and still can’t buy a home. I feel so defeated right now.
Don't give up. Give it some time, pay all your bills on time, pay down debt and your credit will recover
Did that ever get the collection items to be removed after the original credit issuer marked it paid and closed?
@@MariqueMcgriff unfortunately they didn’t remove it and is still on my credit even after I disputed it as being paid in full
Don’t give up sooner or later the day will come, but it will have to be dropped. It won’t stay there forever, so just have faith and dream you’re on your house just believe.
What about medical collections? How bad do they effect your credit?

Try to dispute with your evidence to get it removed.
Dispute the debt, with evidence and keep good records.
If it's 2yrs plus and you pay it off and have it removed would that increase your score?
I received a collection letter, does that mean it will appear on my report, or if i pay it wont appear????
Then the guy said they would only remove 100.00 once the debt went to that 1,000
I have over 700 score, should i worry about it? Thanks Shaheedah 😊
I probably wouldn't worry about it. It may not be impacting you much. If you are trying to buy a house the lender will let you know if paying off this debt will have any impact.
@@ShaheedahHill thanks Shaheedah 😊🙏

@@ShaheedahHill thanks so much. Once i send letter, will they take it off my credit? Or do i need to mention that in the letter?
Hi, Mrs. Sweep,
Thank you for your videos.
Does pay for delete raise credit? Or does it just remove it from report?
Removing a negative item from your credit score will typically raise your score unless it is really old and was not impacting your score much anyway. @PrincessFulgado-bd4gv Thank you for watching
@@ShaheedahHill I have one that is about 3 and a half years old and 1 that's about a year and a half
@@ShaheedahHill Thank you but she got laid off from her job. She is looking but she does not have insurance or can afford a lawyer
Awesome info. I just noticed that a agreed pay to delete is still on my credit report. It’s not affecting me getting credit but it’ did affect me in getting a high APR on a credit card. How can I get this off?
I would dispute with proof of the agreement with creditor attached to the dispute. Thanks for watching.
@@ShaheedahHill Thank you. I will do this and I’m glad I came across your page.
@@ShaheedahHill okay thank you appreciate it for this advice, have a wonderful day…
Since just paying collections wont guarantee accounts being removed from your credit report, how do you remove collections?
@@ShaheedahHill i just found out it's not a medical bill. It's from an old bank account that was reported as overdrawn
how long should it take for you to remove disputes and collections off your credit?
Usually 30 days it the time they have to respond. @626_reaper7 Thank you for watching

If you cannot afford an attorney go to legal aid in your state - www.lsc.gov/about-lsc/what-legal-aid/get-legal-help
If the amount of debt you have is really large you may want to consider bankrupcy as an option as well.
@@ShaheedahHill thank you so much
Will filing chapter 7 remove the collections off my record?? I need to fine for chapter 7 this year give me advices !!! 30 k in debt !!!

But your taxable income went up by $1700. Forgiven debt is considered taxable by the IRS.
How can we improve our score despite a collection?
Here is my 7 day plan ruclips.net/video/4QU7g6IS7BQ/видео.html
Can i just pay the company back instead of the collection
The original creditors already charged the debt off so you are likely only able to pay the collection agency. But you can contact the original company to verify
A collection just appeared on my credit report I know it mine a loan $7000 I want to buy a house in a year should I pay it
It depends on if it will stop you from getting approved for a mortgage or getting the rate that you desire.
For example:
If you make no additional charges using this card and each month you pay ... only the minimum payment
You will pay off the balance shown on this statement in about... 1 months
And you will end up paying an estimated total of ... $18.00”
Do I pay $17.91, $18.00, or more than that to avoid interest? And is it best to pay by the statement date or the due date? Or do I split it into paying half by the statement date and the other half by the due date? Also, would it be best to use my credit card every month?
Pay the entire balance due before the due date and never let the balance owed go over $30 since you will get the most credit score help when your balance owed is less than 10% of your available credit. Don't over think this, pay your bills on time and pay the entire balance, you don't have to pay more than what is owed. @kindree5414 Thank you for watching
Im 80 havent paid any collection my entire life because all debt is charged off.

can the bank still come after me even after they sent my debt to collections???
Typically not the bank but the collection agency can. Once they sell it to a debt collector, they will not still try to collect from you. @Ajdsworld Thank you for watching

I paid collections they r on there as paid n full but not derogatory.
You will have to dispute again, include your evidence of the previous errors.
Would like to do pay for delete
Thanks very much
