This is not a issue of anti-Hindu, clearly it was anti-Nepali.
It is very un-fortunate that why people are not ready to leave with other ethnic groups??

Respected Sir, it is so painful to see that our Hindu brothers and sisters are tormented and tortured in such manners that they had to flee their own country.
Similar is the case of Hindus in Bangladesh. Please make a documentary on the genocide of Hindus in bangladesh.

When Aurangzeb and mughals were destroying Hinduism is was marathi warriors who fought them and kicked them out. Hindus are marathis, rajputs, jatts, reddys, kayasthas, gorkhas and all the warriors castes who fought Aurangzeb and mughals , arabs, Turks and defeated them have the right to call themselves Hindus. Not some Bhutanese or the fake whites coming to iskon

30 percent of people are "Lhotshampa" not "Nepali" because the people who practice Hindu here are called Lhotshampa.
1 reason why they were chucked out from Bhutan is not because we hate their language and dress code but because they were asking for a separate Nation for themselves.
Our leader took so much pain in uniting our nation and these people who were still thinking of Nepals king as their king and revolted, killed many helpless Bhutanese in name of revolutionary activity destroying hospitals and schools.

I’m an Indian of Nepalese origin and a Hindu by religion and an eye surgeon by profession. While working in Nepal in the early nineties, I and my team of eye professionals visited the Bhutanese refugee camps on the banks of the river Mechi and in collaboration with Save the Children fund, we were able to conduct several surgical eye camps for the refugees there. These young delegates in conversation with Sri Rajiv ji must have been little children. I’m so happy that all of the displaced persons have been repatriated and found a homeland for themselves.

The more I study about this, the more it’s clear that really, Hindu or Sanātana Dharma is the _only_ path that’s all encompassing, all welcoming. Even its offshoots, like Buddhism and Sikhism have become rigid, exclusive and in many cases downright violent.
Similar to the plight of KPs, this ethnic cleansing of Nepali Hindus of Bhutan is also a failure of Indian Hindu leadership, and Indian diplomacy. We were not even able to safeguard the interests of our own in a tiny neighbor like Bhutan.

Getting back to the point, the Bhutan government was against Ethnic Nepalis inhabiting their country which has an ethnic bhutanese majority. Both Nepalis belonging to or identifying themselves as hindus and those identifying themselves as buddhists were displaced from bhutan. So the issue was more about ethnicity rather than religion. Although hindus among them who were more distinctly identified by their cultures and festivals and appearance could have been targeted more. But the issue was mostly about ethnic identity. Also the atrocities mostly happend from the bhutanese government and regular ethnic bhutanese people weren't directly involved in it.

A few years back i had read about *Lhotshampas Expulsion* from Bhutan. I even visited Bhutan few months back.
Although I am not sure but i think maybe, the issue might be more related to ethnicity rather than religion as most of the Hindus in Bhutan are of Nepali ethnicity (Lhotshampas). That's why after ethnic cleansing the refugees settled in Nepal rather than India and to reach Nepal they had to go through India. Still there are around 21-25% Hindus is Bhutan while remaining population is Buddhist.
We should help our Hindu brothers and sisters who are in need but at the same time keep in mind the Chinese factor before taking any emotional decisions towards Bhutan as it has been a pro-India nation since independence and any radical decision would push them towards China just like Nepal which can have dire consequences on India security. Other than that we should read and learn our History and find pragmatic solutions. And the most important thing is to spread awareness and make the world hear about our issues and empathize with Hindus as well.

Yes there was injustice ... but it is a Nepali peoples diaspora created by British who took them into every country into India .. sikkim (a kingdom then) Bhutan and most of the northeastern indian states west Bengal nagaland manipur assam etc as gurkhas soilders ..as labourers..helpers ..tea plantation workers etc....
In case of sikkim the nepali people outnumbered the sikkimese and overthrew the king resulting in sikkim becoming a state of India..... in case of Bhutan the bhutanese king being scared drove all the nepali immigrants away... similar in case of nagaland assam manipur etc.....
Nepali people are most hardworking trust worthy and good people ...
But due to certain circumstances and conditions.... the kingdom of bhutan took the decision for it's own survival as a country.....
No body is at fault here....

As far as I am aware, many Nepalese moved from Nepal and settled in Sikkim, Bhutan and North India. In India they have merged with the Indian people and in Sikkim they displaced the local Lepchas and acquired political power. In Bhutan, it appears they were expelled. It appears to be more an ethnic cleansing of Nepalese than of Hindus.

However much we may venerate the Buddha and appreciate his teachings, we find that historically whenever his followers got the upper hand, they induced the rulers to embrace Buddhism and the converted rulers started persecuting the Hindus. This seems mainly to be the work of Buddhist clergy. This is what is happening in countries where the Buddhist clergy is strong, as in Sri Lanka and Myanmar, and now in Bhutan. Unfortunately, it is the Buddhists who introduced the practice of religious conversion, though strictly speaking the Buddhist dharma is also part of the larger Hindu dharma. By the way, the so called religious freedom in the US is also phoney, for there is deep seated antagonism towards Hinduism there.

The problem in Bhutan was not religious. It was ethno-linguistic. Bhutan has a tiny population, barely a quarter million. They took the extreme measure of forcefully evacuating people from their country in order to stop their cultural identity from being permanently lost. None of this of course justifies what happened to the unfortunate victims of Nepali origin. They need to be helped to find closure.

    Bhutanese Refugees:
In the establishment of the Bhutan, the major credits go to the Tibetan, Nepali speaking Bhutanese and Kuchbihari. The first Royal Dynasty of the Bhutan was the Namgyal who came to Bhutan as "Auatari Lama" from Tibet and laid the strong foundation of the prosperous Bhutan. The Dharmaraja Namgyal established the law in the country. In 1861 B.S. the laws, regulations, rights and measure prevalent of Gorkha were introduced in Bhutan. At the time of Dharmaraja Namgyal, Bhutan's relationship was not only with Gorkha but also with the Malla Kings of Kathmandu Valley and the Sen Dynasty kings of Nepal. The different skilled craftsmen were brought from Nepal to build the Buddhist Stupa and Monasteries, these people of the various ethnic groups began to settle in Bhutan. The Hindu Priests from Nepal were also well recognized during the period. The relation between the Hindus and Buddhists were extremely harmonic since they were engaged in building the government monasteries and used to celebrate their respective festival together. The idols of the five Gods were placed in the government monasteries and the Royal family strongly believes in the presents of "the Shivatwa to the Buddhatwa and the Buddhatwa to Shivatwa" that is why the King had great faith on Halesi Mahadev of Khotang and Swaymbhu. Thus, as Nepali speaking ethnic groups had settled in Bhutan since the early beginning, they are regarded as authentic Bhutanese citizens.
During eighteen century, the most of the part of Bhutan was covered by dense forest. During 1725 A.D. as managing the socio-habitat in the country, the Nepali speaking Bhutanese who were already in Bhutan from centuries were given the responsibility to safe-guard its borders. The Nepali speaking Bhutanese like Brahmin, Kshatri, Newar, Limbu, Rai, Gurung, Magar, Tamang, Kami, Damai etc were working by heart and had major contribution in the development of southern Bhutan. The Nepali language had been granted the status of a lingua franca from the history. Therefore, the Nepali speaking Bhutanese had not faced any difficulties in term of language. Even though the priority was given to Buddhism, all ethnic groups were free to follow the Hinduism or any other religion and were free to wear any traditional dresses. The titles as"Dharmaraja" and "Devraja" have been used by the King and the Prime-minister as "Shree Panch" and "Shree Teen" in Nepal. These titles are used from the history and we should keep in mind that these words were created in Nepal. So, the influence of the Nepalese language was from centuries.
