I agree. This version looks amazing but I can see where the Genesis version plays and feels a lot better. SNES appears to have a better version on Tecmo Super Bowl though.
As much as I liked this years version I found the hurdle/jump button to be somewhat troublesome, compared to the couple years prior versions. So in the 92 and 93 games once you got the hang of the running and which teams had the fastest players those games are fun!! When 94 came out I was 14 and excited, my favorite option that was new to the franchise was the different greatest teams to choose from and the random match-ups it would have pre picked sorta. But 95-97 when Oakland was added was a personal favorite, especially the Rocket Cant stop it sign for Raghib Ismail 🏴☠️💯☠️
Madden ‘94 was better on Sega. That last great year of Sega sports. After ‘96 PS1 basically had the crown until PS2 Madden. I never understood why Madden ‘95 and ‘96 decided to shrink the players on SNES, I know they were trying to add more things in the game but they should’ve kept the same player scale.
I agree; the visuals are so great here. I would say that Madden 94 is the first stable/playable Madden for the SNES; unfortunately, it's still not very good, as it's still lacking that fluidity and control that make the Genesis versions so fun. Had there been one football game with the visual vibrancy of a SNES Madden like this one, and the playability of the better EA football games on the Genesis (Madden 91-94, Bill Walsh 95), it would have been considered a GOAT football game alongside TECMO Super Bowl and ESPN NFL 2K5.
I'm really looking forward to the genesis versions simply because I never had the opportunity to try them. We were a nintendo household growing up and for years I heard that genesis was better for sports.
There are many early Genesis games that are some of the best on the console- more so than on the Super Nintendo which I guess peaked later. Mutant League Hockey and Sportstalk Baseball are personal favorites.
@@sports_fix Bill Walsh College Football 95 really is the best of the bunch overall--some later games are more "sim" and do certain things better but it comes at the expense of the overall fun factor (but they are still enjoyable too).
@@rapalbumdepot2660 That's an interesting point. With the baseball series (Sports Talk/World Series), I notice the visuals improved but the game did not get more enjoyable. I like Sports Talk Baseball too--in fact, it's the only baseball game I own on any console. I also think a lot more could have been done with their football games...use of the 6-button controller to have all five eligible receivers on passing plays, and extra moves for ballcarriers and d-linemen, etc. College Football USA 96 (and to some extent Madden 97) is almost a perfect 16-bit football sim, but running (unlike Bill Walsh 95) is sluggish and unsatisfying. I still like it a lot--but Bill Walsh 95 is the sweet spot for EA's football efforts in the 16-bit era.
Fun one. It's interesting that you're playing against the Giants. If you look closely, you'll see the Giants' roster is actually on the Jets, and the Jets' roster is on the Giants. Which is why the QB for the Giants is Boomer Esiason, wearing #7. The Jets starting QB is Phil Simms (#11).
This was the first Madden NFL game that I ever played, love it!
The hurdle button in this game was so op. You could just spam it and get big gains every time.
This version of 94 looked the best, but genesis still looked great in its own right, and played much better.

Senior Year of High School… we used to “pre-game” at my friends house and play this before we hit the keg parties.
Better times.

Good times. Bought a used copy from Blockbuster once '95 came out. Played the OG franchise mode - using a legal pad to track stats for each season.
92 was my first but this one got me hooked.
I got this Xmas of that year iirc. Along with SMW, DKC, and Street Fighter. :D

For some reason I find it funny when they are like SET every time lmao.
the random color and number cadence is always funny to me. it obviously means nothing and is just there for the ambience lol
i came here from the video of a urinal made mostly of Madden SNES cartridges. fair.
My first Madden I played at 6
Good lord lol im happy i was coherent for SNES
This was back before microtransactions
Thanks to this game every time I see off sides get called I always say “gotta watch the snap” miss this game.
Sounds like Sega Genesis version of Offsides.

That is hilarious, I never knew that. Good catch!
The Patriots are the Rams, too.
I always found these snes madden games very awkward to play. I never really liked them until the Playstation era.
