When it warms up really good we used to get the odd black bear crawling around the cutblocks when we were logging years ago close to their dens. Often seen grizzly out and around in the winter too. They don’t hibernate as hard. The guys haven’t been catching many wolves around here this winter either. Think the govt is really worried about the caribou herds and have been managing the wolves in the background quietly.
Bear can wake up and surprise you. Sure would be nice if the Guberment would do something about the freaking wolves! Can't kill any here, until they've eaten your arm off.. even then you go to prison if they find out.

Wow! A bear this time of year is crazy! Igor in St. Petersburg, Russia said there is some that don't hibernate. They call them Insomniac bears, and are dangerous because there's so little to eat. They get desperate. Be careful of this bear!!
It is crazy! I have seen it before over the years but very rare. This bear could be a real problem if it doesn't go back into hibernation. It could destroy my trapline if it gets smart enough to follow my snowmobile tracks. I don't want to be on its menu either. I will have to be very cautious. Thanks so much, Gary! Have a good night. Couple of questions: 1. That bear - is that a black bear or a grizzly? and 2. Is their any difference between your sets for marten and fisher? do you use the same boxes for fisher and the same trap size? Always great videos from you - whether you have 10 catches or just one or two. I remember a year or two ago whenever it warmed up after a big cold spell you went crazy on fisher catches.
A black bear. It could make a big mess of my sets if it starts following my snowmobile tracks. There is no difference between the Fisher or Marten sets. Same boxes, same trap. I'm using 160 Belisle traps. I normally refer to them as Fisher sets because I don't really have Marten here. I've only ever caught 2. I suspect that they are maybe moving in a little to the area. It seems like I usually catch Fisher when it gets warmer. I hoping on the next check I will do better. Thx for always watching and commenting! Have a good night, my friend.

Minnesota Rancher. I once caught a bear at my bait site in a coyote snare. In March, 150 lb black bear. Good luck to ya!

Called in a black bear coyote hunting in January it was -4 below was very strange hopefully he doesn’t give you any trouble
