    I remember buying this with all the money that I saved right after graduating high school. It was a the best high end P&S that also allowed full manual controls at the time - pretty much the camera that got me into photography. So glad you reviewed this!

      @@estherlog Wow, I can imagine this camera having sentimental value to you! It is crazy that a P&S camera that came out in 2008 still produces high quality image. Thank you so much for watching, really appreciate it!

    I used to have the Fuji XF10 as my pocket cam for a few years but never quite liked it. So I sold it. I was looking for a replacement when I found the LX3 for a bargain in the local used market and decided to give it a go. I’ve been shooting with it since. It has a surprisingly good set of features and I really like the overall handling of it. Btw you can enable the lens focal length memory from the settings so you don’t have to start from 24mm every time. It’s the third page on the wrench menu, Lens Resume. It will remember both the zoom and focus. I always use manual focus with the focus button on top, and keep the lens around 44mm full frame equivalent (around where the max aperture is 2.4 :D) for streets. With the lens resume enabled when I turn on the camera everything will be correct, I just need to press the shutter button!

      The Fuji XF10 was always on my wishlist because it is pocketable and has fuji film simulation. So, I'm curious about why you didn't like it. The only reason keeping me from that camera is the 28mm equiv. focal length. Yes, for a camera that is 16 year old, it has lots of customizable menus and great color palette. Thank you so much for that info about the focal length memory! Now I have zero reasons to dislike any part of this camera!

      @@AlexKimPhoto For some reason I’ve never liked the look of Fuji’s film simulations. They don’t look like film but they’re also not that fresh :D I don’t think I have any photos taken with the XF10 that I’d return to look at or remember. They’re basic good photos, clean, sharp, lots of megapixels, but there’s nothing else. Maybe it’s the 28mm lens that I just can’t use right. The camera is also slow, both in focusing and in general operation. The LX3 feels so much more snappier to me. I’m not saying XF10 is a bad camera by any means, it’s just that it wasn’t what I wanted from a pocketable camera. For others it might be the right choice! I’ve sold my X100 and Xpro1 as well, so maybe Fujifilm just isn’t the tool for my photography in general :D

      @@tuhisdraws Oh I understand completely. I didn’t love the fuji colors neither. I know the huge hype behind the fuji cameras, and that makes me want one haha But I did have an x100t in the past and I sold it too. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t for me for some reason. I think we prefer similar focal lengths that are not too wide. I heard about the very slow focusing on the XF10, another reason I was hesitant on getting that camera. Now that I’m perfectly happy with the LX3, I am not in search for another camera anymore. I prefer the colors out of the LX3 :)

    I have the same, great little camera. You may want to get a filter holder for your LX3. Not only does it allow you to add PL or a UV for dust protection, it can double up as a handle while walking around with the camera in your hand

    Hey brother, thanks for yet another great video. Like I said in the last video, I’m so happy you reviewed this camera. It was also really nice to hear the background of the camera with your family. That is really nice to hear a bit more of your life and personal stories. It’s really warm and makes the videos very personal. Thanks bro! Look forward to the next video!

    I think the CCD magic lies in how it makes skin smooth and glowing. It’s almost as if there are none of the pixels one associated with digital photos, and also none of the grain one gets from film. It’s a whole different beast.
    Edit: just heard you mention how it’s the lens giving the highlight roll off 😅

    • @AlexKimPhoto
      @AlexKimPhoto  4 дня назад +1

      @@Kids11111 Yes, I thought CCD sensor was all about vintage digital look! Boy was I wrong. I am really impressed with how it renders images. I recently took it on my trip to Japan, and I think I prefer some of the images over what I got at the same spot with the Ricoh GR3X. After seeing you mention the skin tones, I will use it more to take snap shots of my family 😁 (I guess it was the CCD sensor giving the highlight roll off! I stand corrected)

    • @Kids11111
      @Kids11111 4 дня назад +1

      @@AlexKimPhotoOh, you might be correct about it being the lens. I don’t understand the technologies well and I just assumed it was the sensor type giving that look. I had a Samsung point and shoot with a CCD back in 2010, and that one always stood out in my mind for how well it rendered skin! I later thought it was just because I was younger and had tighter skin back then, but now with the resurgence of CCD camera photography, I’m seeing the same results all over again in the photos I see online of people.

    • @AlexKimPhoto
      @AlexKimPhoto  4 дня назад +1

      @@Kids11111 That makes the two of us! I am not so knowledgeable about the tech stuff haha. Yes to come to think of it, when talking about skin tones, I have found that too sharp of an image brings out more skin imperfections than in real life. I’ll be sure to bring this camera on my next trip with my family haha thank you for letting me know! I didn’t know it had that kind of effect on the skin!

    Such a great review!
    Some years ago i believe 2019 i bought a Leica Dlux 4 (same as LX3) in a second hand store for 25 bucks in very good condition.
    It was a breakthrough in my photography in many ways. Sometimes it can take better photos than my Canon 6D and Sony A6000.
    It´s hard to discribe but i think you nailed it.
    I recently bought another Dlux 4 in brand new condition just to have a backup if my first somehow dies.

      Wow! Good to hear that you had a photography breakthrough with this camera! I think the joy and ease of using this camera combined with great photo quality does that! Now that summer is just around the corner, I will use this camera more because of how this camera renders green and how easy it is to carry it around. Have a good day! Really appreciate your comment!

    Install the latest firmware for this camera and it will start from the last focal length.
    As for the screen , it is one of the largest , most accurate in colors for that time . try sigma dp, for example)

      I actually did find the menu to make it start from the last focal length! Thanks for watching!
