This video could just be Josh sitting on that couch talking about life for an hour and have absolutely nothing to do with the album and I'd still thumbs that shit. I love this man
Oh fuck off Reinhart. You're absolutely clueless. Tell that to the war time generations. My grandfather and father both had suicidal periods of their lives due to it, neither of them knew anything about the internet.
Hearing Josh talk about depression and anxiety has kind of confirmed what I've felt for a long time, music this intense and beautiful must have come from a dark place. Gravitating towards sad things, I can totally relate. I am beyond hyped for this album.
@@SuperCharleh He had issues with insomnia, so he'd spent most nights just lying in his bed and thinking about all the time he was wasting by not being able to sleep. That's what served as the main inspiration for that album's concept.
That decade 2006-2016 was not wasted my friend. Edge of the earth, Monolith and Dormant Heart are my favorites albums of all time. And they have helped me through some tough transitions in 2010-2016. I would love to hear more about the creation of those albums.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on writing music and lyrics. Just want to say that you definitely NOT wasted 10 years of your life for nothing! Sylosis was always very special and unique band for us fans and we are extremely happy to see you guys back!
@@thombakker2835 what did he mean? That he's wasted time on sylosis when he could've been chasing big money in other bands? I'm glad he's seen sense and carried on with sylosis!
Mental illness like anxiety and depression often ironically hit hardest in people who have had - on ther surface - really good lives. You can find people who have been through the worst shit - battled things on the outside - and persevered through with positivity on the inside. And on the flipside people who have lead smooth lives on the outside but faced demons on the inside due to constant negative and anxiety ridden thought patterns. It's a battle we win no awards or medals for surviving through, but kick-arse metal is one of the most awesome and brightest lights to shine from the end of that dark tunnel.
Josh, you need to know that despite on album and track sales you have a real fans that never lose to listen to your music! The question is what is better - an army of fans that forgets you as soon as released a new BMTH album, or real, faithful people...
Great video. Can't wait for the Islington gig next week :-) Regarding how to write dark lyrics, it's absolutely the case that you don't necessarily need to be in a dark place to do it. Just like Steven King doesn't need to be feeling murderous to write grisly horror stories, it's all about the art and using one's creativity to project a concept. Great to see the lads in a happy place. Fucking rifflords!
There are few bands that transmit that epic wrapped in rage. Sylosis does it. It is a perfect alloy to express strong feelings. It is undoubtedly one of the most inspired bands today. Many look forward to their new album. It is one of the most powerful news of this new year. Hail Sylosis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can relate. On the surface my life is perfect to others. But my anxiety has like you said chipped away at me slowly. Getting help now but before I lived in this dark place inside. I never thought something like this would happen to me and made fun of others calling people who needed help weak. But in reality I was suffering more or less and not aware of the symptoms. If anyone reads this chronic anxiety is a problem if you are always anxious get help or it will eat you alive.
I really admire you guys. Having experienced anxiety myself I can totally relate to Josh. Please keep up giving us that aggresive-anxious vibe through your top tier music!
I've been listening to heavy music for over half my life at this point. Sylosis is one of those bands I never properly checked out until this album. It's been years since I discovered an album I'm this excited about. I just don't understand why it's not more well known.
I haven't even thought about The Arusha Accord in years, what a band. I remember their bassist always being barefoot on stage haha. Shame Viatrophy kicked it too, playing those shows was legit one of the highlights of my life.
I’m super stoked to secure my preorder but after seeing all the different uk bundles I wish there would have been more options for the us bundles I still got the big one, got to support my favorite uk band can’t wait to see you in the states been a long time coming!!!
i think he could have just said that as you mature , you gain perspective in a way that is hard to be expressed in other ways than music. there are a lot of studies about why people like different styles of music and it certainly isnt only related to being depressed or anything. the happiest people i know listen to death. anyone could listen to anything
@@screambluemurder101 when I was in them we supported a lot of bigger bands in York, did a few small tours and a tour with The Berzerker, as well as some festivals like bloodstock etc. Had a few 'introducing' type articles in magazines and a load of reviews. Also, videos on scuzz and kerrang tv. After I left they toured with American Head Charge, did a couple more festivals and had some more videos on tv.
Yo Josh heard the new album and its fucking amazing! Definitely cant wait to see you guys live if you ever come to Chicago and also I really enjoyed the straight forward message of Devil in their eyes, that song really resonated with me.

When he says he had a realisation in 2016 that he wasted 10 years on something that he`s not happy with, what does he mean, like the band or?Someone clerar it up if you can.
Late reply, but here it is. Sylosis is his baby and he felt like they didn't make it as a band, plus he has been unhappy with the self-imposed restrictions on the band' sound (E standard tuning, no breakdowns, etc.) because they were established as "that heavy band in E standard tuning" at the time. Also, he felt tired of trying to cram all his diverse influences in a single band, and now he feels comfortable because he plays in two bands that play completely different subgenres of metal.
