- Best ways to clean and take care of running packs. Hydration vests can be expensive items of running kit so we really need to look after them to prolong their lifespan. That way we will get to use them for lots of running adventures and enjoyable running miles.

I do like the flask in the freezer tip ,
yeah well, big pharma labs and chemists are storing viruses and bacteria in freezers as well so... maybe we'll be just fine washing them, drying them and store them in shelf, and quick rinse them just before filling them and starting our outdoor session...😅

Great tips, Loyd 👍 I follow same process although I do use a bit of NikWax Tech Wash for my vest once in a while. I totally agree with the salt and zips too, very corrosive if it’s left on.

I do the large bladders in the freezer but the flasks I have a mesh bag that they go into after being washed. As for the vest I put mine in a lingerie bag and wash it on delicate with no detergent. Then hang it up to dry.

I wash my 12l salomon with other clothes when I want to. No problems at all 👍
My old one, used for 5 years at least and washed same way , gave it to my friend when I've got a new one... coz it was still OK.
I do the same with my vest. Great tip about the flasks. Have you chosen an ultra to take advantage of the Arc training?

I've always showered them off straight away. Only pack I've had durability issues with is the ADV Cross season where I've had stitching coming loose on 2 of them.
I'm the same where I hand-wash my hydration vest after every run. Knowing I've been sweating in it makes it feel quite gross putting it back on for the next run 😁
Don’t forget you can take the lids apart on the Salomon and give that a good clean.
I know you can take the lids apart but I don’t have to because I keep the bottles and lids in the freezer 👍

Always wash mine in the shower after a run. Then once a month it goes in a pillow case and into the washing machine. Been perfect for the last 2 years 👊🏻

I soak my Salamon in Nikwax Techwash in hand warm water with the pockets unzipped and then hang it on the line. The only issue I have had was that the elastics that go around the top of the bottle have stretched over time and then the left pocket from my phone bouncing up and down in it.
Do you think I could shrink my hydration vest will shrink a bit down if I wash and dry in hot temperatures ? The return policy wasn’t clear. I use this vest for spot running ( just running in the same spot)with the essentials (keys, gels, water , lamp) I was gonna be using, but because I cut the string of the tag they’re no longer able exchange or get my money back. it was a little bit expensive, I’m trying to find a way to make it fit.

I just wash my Salomon Adv 12 pack in the washing machine, no problem so far.
Bottles i only ever use water in them so as long as I clean them once a week they last a long time.
The garbage bag in the Salomon pack was annoying, I cut it off and just have a small plastic zip bag for wrappers in n one of the side pockets.
I’ve heard a few people have cut the little rubbish bag out. I actually find it really handy, plus you know exactly where it is and you don’t have to rummage around to find a bag for your rubbish 👍
Salomon website says to wash with goretex cleaner.

How long should a running vest last if used and washed every day? About as long as a polyester t-shirt? 6months?🤔
You should get more than six months use from a vest if you look after it well 👍
Obviously using it everyday is a lot of use but you should still get years of use. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
I guess I’m way too lazy for all of that i just throw all my running clothes in a washing machine and wash it with all other laundry when the time comes, with detergent:) and my old school salomon 3l vest still is in shape despite being through 100 of these cycles. I guess it really depends on the quality of the product in the first place

I don’t wear it in the shower, I rinse my hydration vest off in the shower 👍😁
