We're seniors, unable to climb under the eaves to install the outdoor sensor for L73859. Wondering if the unit would send approximately 40' from inside a post mounted waterproof plastic electrical outlet box?

Our sensor weather shield could be another option if you have any trouble: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/925-1418
Hi! I have the sensor for the 308-1414W. The AA batteries go dead after only 3 or 4 days. I test them with a meter, and they are dead. Why are they draining so fast? Is the outdoor sensor defective? I've only had this unit a month or so, and it's behaved this way since day one? Any suggestions? HELP!!
Yes, indeed. The sensor is likely defective if it's eating batteries that fast. Please send our support team a message here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/support/index/form/ and we'll work to get you a replacement. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Okay, I did everything you said above and the outdoor sensor still isn't working. I'm thinking my sensor went out on me. I'll probably have to buy a new one again. This is my 2nd sensor so far.
I've put new batteries in the outside thermometer and it continues to read OFL, and must be synced to inside unit which also reads OFL as the outdoor temp.
These sensors/weather stations have four big problems. (1) Battery replacement has to be in right sequence. Sensor first, and the receiving station next. If the sequence is messed up, the sensor will be damaged permanently. (2) So you have to monitor battery strength in the sensor periodically. If sensor battery is dead, the receiver can no longer receive signal (even after you have replaced sensor battery). (3) The sensor is not weatherproof (deliberately). Even if you put it in the shade outside, some mist, splash will get inside, and will damage the electronic parts. (4) At very low temperature (say minus 25 deg Celsius as in Calgary) it malfunctions. I have dumped two sets because of (1) and (2), and the third one was damaged because of (3). The g oal of the companies is to sell every two years. As regards accuracy, these are excellent.
The inside station is working fine. The sensor was dead for a while. I virtually wrote it off. I opened it, using a small saw, and noticed two problems (1) The negative terminal of battery compartment had partly broken (poor/intentional design). (2) The +ve leg of the 10 mfd 16V CKCON JAC (Whatever that means) electrolytic condenser inside the sensor got rusted. I shall try to repair it as part of my hobby project. I give this feedback because (1) I really liked the station for its overall convenience, reliability and accuracy (I used three, and presented another three to my friends). (2) I do believe that in this age of electronics, foolproof safeguards against inadvertent wrong sequence of inserting the battery is not that difficult. Thanks for prompt reply, and for sending the reset link.

What are the differences (if any other then the # after the "V") between the "TX141TH-BV2" and the "TX141TH-BV3" I have an older 308-1414MB that needs the V2 and I just bought a newer S84107-INT that needs the V3 one will one work for both stations?
Hey Peter, sorry for the confusion. Both versions of these sensors should work with each of your weather station displays, so yes, only one sensor will be needed if you're setting them up in the same location. A small internal component was the only difference between the two sensor versions, the performance should be the same.

La Crosse Technology yes, I do understand those that leave the bad opinions, but they are true to what you just said. There should be a warning on front of box in big enough letter saying that humid areas will cause equipment to not last but maybe a year or two. Then a person can decide if they want to spend that much for a product that doesn't last that long! Not fair to not tell people.
Have my mounted under 4' deep eves - very protected from elements. All metal components in the sensor look corroded after 2 year use. CT humidity kills it - really? No, cheap materials kill it.

Hi Cess, we are truly sorry to hear about the troubles with your past sensors. In most situations we recommend using new brand name alkaline batteries dated at least 7 years ahead (super, ultra, max, heavy duty, or rechargeable types should be avoided). But if you're in a region with consistent sub-zero temperatures, lithium batteries may be a good fit, as they can better withstand the colder temps. After I put the batteries in the receiver, it blinks looking for the sensor and then stops blinking and nothing. There's no reading. Nothing happens and it's been hours. Please advice.
Regular alkaline batteries should be fine for temps down to about -20 degrees fahrenheit. But if you expect colder temps, lithium batteries would be the way to go, however, not all of our sensors will work with lithium batteries. Please make sure to check your station and sensor specs before you purchase.
@@TheOzthewiz Lithium batteries should work with our TX141TH-Bv3 sensor. However, if you experience any connection issues you'll want to switch to alkaline.
My WS-9029U-IT remote sensor crapped out. I tried 3 different pairs of batteries and followed instructions. Neither component was ever set up outdoors.I bought it only a year or two ago. I agree with other posters, the required sequence to power them up is silly, should be plug-n-play instead. I will have to find a different solution to remotely monitor temperature. It is one more strike against LaCrosse Tech. I used to be a fan but their chargers don't last long enough either.
Tried it. The remote sensor screen shows 188.8 E and the main unit seems to be fine. Sent email to support along with the order #. It appears I bought it from your site 1.5 years ago. I have been using eneloop aaa rechargeable and it worked fine until recently.
The eneloops had a fresh charge and tested to 1.5V and it has worked using those or amazon basics rechargeable and even an ancient set of hybrid rechargeables since it was new. I realize the 1.5V is a fresh surface charge and it drops a bit but as stated,it has worked fine until now... I will use only rechargeables in my equipment, anything that *has to* have alkalines might as well have been run over by a looong freight train because it will be thrown away. Most electronics will work on a range of voltage, sometimes the window is narrower but it still works. You guys know all about voltage ranges for electronics though,I doubt I can educate you on that score. :)
Hey Eremurillo, if your outdoor reception is intermittent, this is typically a sign of interference. Our first recommendation would be to try a new location for the sensor and/or display, possibly moving them closer together or away from other electronics. Be sure also to use new reputable alkaline batteries, other types can have transmission issues. If this still does not help, a new sensor can be purchased here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/tx38u-it

Why is it designed in such a way that I can't I replace the rechargeable batteries?!
If you still have it cut it open and put new batteries in... I did that to mine by using a razor at the seam. The originals are rechargeable alkalines, but you can out regular alkaline in, just change them after a year because they'll leak. Rechargeable alkalines are built more robust than single use cells.

Yes, indeed. The sensor is likely defective if it's eating batteries that fast. Please send our support team a message here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/support/index/form/ and we'll work to get you a replacement. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Thank YOU !! BUT ...... when I put New batteries in my outdoor sensor, it no longer communicates with my clock indoors. Please help :)
Okay, I did everything you said above and the outdoor sensor still isn't working. I'm thinking my sensor went out on me. I'll probably have to buy a new one again. This is my 2nd sensor so far.
About 1-1/2 years ago, roughly.
Okay great. Thank You.
I've put new batteries in the outside thermometer and it continues to read OFL, and must be synced to inside unit which also reads OFL as the outdoor temp.
Hi Noel, sorry about this. What is the model number of your weather station or clock?
How can a different sequence permanently damage the sensor?

Too bad they don't have reverse polarity protection in case you install the batteries wrong.
How do I know which sensor I Need?
Searching by your product model number (printed on the back or bottom of your main display) on our website is a great place to start. As you search, a dropdown will appear with links to your Part/Sensors tab which will show you all of your replacement or add-on sensor options. Our page here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/pages/sensor-finder will show you how to do this.
@@lacrossetechnology the sensor I need is listed as retired, and no info is given for a suitable replacement......
Original sensor is TX21U . It will no longer connect. **very** occasionally it will connect, but it hasn't done that in a couple weeks. Already tried new batteries, new startup sync procedures, etc. Can you suggest another remote sensor?
@@coeneschamaun1735 If no other sensor options are listed for your product, a new system would be the next solution. For assistance in finding something new at a discount, please reach out to our store at 608-785-7939 or via email at store@lacrossetechnology.com
Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.
I hate that the solar one does not have replaceable batteries. It worked fine for 2 years and I guess that was it for the rechargeable batteries... now what? straight to the bin and encouragement to buy a new one? Really? Why is it designed in such a way that I can't I replace the rechargeable batteries?!
If you still have it cut it open and put new batteries in... I did that to mine by using a razor at the seam. The originals are rechargeable alkalines, but you can out regular alkaline in, just change them after a year because they'll leak. Rechargeable alkalines are built more robust than single use cells.
@@volvo09 Or put in "lithium" cells, should be good for at least couple years!
Yeah what the hell is the difference between the various temp sensors.... 🙄
Hey Jim, this is a video that showcases many of our older sensor models. These will have various radio frequencies, wireless ranges, and obviously different case designs. En français C est possible ?
For French support we'd recommend reviewing our website here: www.lacrossetechnology.fr/assistance.html
La Crosse is a joke. My sensor failed. La Crosse admits they are only good for 5-6 years, but no longer offers compatible replacements. So, they lamely offer 45% off a new weather station whose sensor will fail in 5-6 years. What a scam: Talk about planned obsolescence!
I had an accurite that lasted 5 as well.
Total crap lacrosse two of them I bought died

Seriously you need to stop smoking or look into a CPAP machine, that breathing is dangerous. You're not exercising.
All joking aside, somebody please give this poor guy some oxygen, a physical trainer, and a pamphlet on diabetes. This is just sad...
Kevin Reagan rude
Rude. Take a hike.
