NOTE: The original C85845 model did come with batteries in the box. However, subsequent versions of this weather station will not come with batteries provided. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Wow ! I mentioned to one of my children about a Weather Station I wanted for Fathers Day , my loving caring daughter went a step better and got me this upgraded better one then I picked as a surprise. I did get concerned that setting it up and maintaining it might be too complicated for my 57 year old Technologically challenged abilities but watching this video has changed my mind and now I’m excited to getting it operational
I followed your instruction on the reset, and it worked perfectly!!! Thank you. We have had this unit for about 2 years now and it always operates flawlessly. Recently the sensor stopped transmitting, or the unit quit receiving, not sure which. I thought maybe the rain finally got to the sensor, or the cold weather we recently had drained the life from it. So I ordered a different unit to replace it. THEN~~~I seen your video, and now my old unit is back up and working beautifully...thanks!!! Sending the new unit back to Amazon...
I had a problem with my unit and sent an email and got a response that I would be contacted. I missed the email and was contacted by phone after posting on this site. I am very happy that a replacement is on the way. Excellent customer service experience, thank you 🤩
I bought this for my 82 year old Dad. He had a hard time setting it up, and I couldn't get the station to read the outdoor sensor, but this video helped so much and now it's up and working. He loves it, but my Mom is still yelling at me for "wasting my money", lol.

Great video. Thank you. Does the screen turn off after ten minutes so you can't tell the time at night unless you activate the screen every ten minutes?
As described at the 14:38 timestamp in this video, as long as you're using the provided power cord, the backlight will remain on whichever brightness level you leave it at using the SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT button. Using only batteries will allow the LCD to come on at full brightness for 10 seconds at a time.
Saw and loved this weather station at my friend's camp in Maine. Just got mine and watched the thorough video . Hoping for many years of accurate weather information from this product.
This was a great video. The instruction sheet in the box was so limited that I almost sent the unit back. However, I called the help line and learned about their RUclips videos. This guy did a fantastic job and the organization of the video with an index allowing you to go right to the section you need is very helpful.
our original "transmitter" broke on a windy day so I ordered another complete system not knowing if the transmitter was programmed to each base. The new system base would not pick up the transmitter and now I found that I had to connect it with the button. didn't have to do it with the old one. THANKS for helping. My husband plugged in the old base, which worked fine even after 5+yrs, and discovered it easily picked up the new transmitter without having to touch the button on it. so he plans on using it in his "mancave"
Hey Sheila, sorry for the trouble. We're happy to hear you were able to get thing worked out though! If you should have questions in the future, we are here to help. 😊
I been reading through the comments here to this video,, and I see replies from the company them all! That really shows me they are a great company! And this video helped me so much more than the limited instruction sheet! Thank you!

Hey George, great question! Unfortunately, our current C85845 lineup will only support data from one wireless sensor. Newer models, like our S77925v2: bit.ly/s77925v2, V11: bit.ly/v11_station, and V15: bit.ly/v15_station will all support add-on temperature/humidity sensors as well as rain gauges or more. Hey I just got this station as a gift, and I'm setting up the station with the clock settings, I see their are settings for all zones except for AZ specific for DST. Do I just set it to MST with DST off or not?
Hey John, yes, that would be correct. Assuming your area does not follow Daylight Saving Time, you will want to keep the DST setting set to OFF and then just be sure to set the station to your correct time zone (which we assume is MST). 😊
Good video. Thanks. Note that on the back of the station there is a stand that folds out. This is not shown in the video and it's not in the written instructions.
I am confused about the atomic time icon. Is the tower supposed to always show? It went away on my unit. But the video made it seem like it was supposed to stay on and not blink when it connected. ??
I got mine set fine but it changes the display from temp and time to alarm every 10 seconds, its really annoying. I have the alarm off but it keeps switching back and forth. I want it to just show the time and temps like in the videos. I dont even use the alarm feature but it keeps showing alarm 12:00 I even reset it and took the batteries out but doesnt stop.

This is the best demonstration video I have ever seen. It is succinct and simple to understand. I had no more questions once the video was complete. I love this weather station now that I know what I'm doing.
Thanks for the feedback, Rebecca! We are truly happy the video was able to answer your questions, but are always here to help if you should need us in the future. 😊
My back light will not stay on! The station is plugged in, everything else is working properly...I have pushed the plug it in as far as I can - as was suggested by another on this forum who was addressing a similar complaint to mine. I don't want this weather station if I have to walk over and push the button every time I need to see the outside temperature. I bought it for the bright, attractive display, that could easily been seen from a distance. Help me, please!
Hey Cara, we're truly sorry for the trouble with your backlight. Just to confirm, have you by chance tried the display using a different power outlet? We've had some customers in the past find that the one they were using was actually not working or was controlled by a switch. If you have, and the display does not stay lit up, you may need a new power cord. In this situation, we ask that you please reach out to our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport -- they will be more than happy to help get this corrected. Sorry again for the inconvenience.
What an impressive turn around response time, La Crosse! Yes, the station was plugged into a power strip with a switch. The switch was on, but the station back light wouldn't stay on. When I moved the station to a wall outlet, it lit up like Christmas for me. Your solution worked, and I am a happy camper, now. I hope others with the same issue see this solution. La Crosse, you've got it going on for customer service. Thumbs up!
The dashboard on the model I just purchased looks nothing like the dashboard in this video. Is there any chance an updated version of this video is available? In-box instruction manual is anemic at best, and the system is not intuitive to navigate thru.
Hey Ian, our sincere apologies for the trouble setting up your weather station. If you could pass along the model number of your specific station (printed on the back of the main display, typically near our logo), we'd be more than happy to provide any additional support links available.
I bought the C85845 on January 10, 2017. Within two weeks I began getting lines on the left side instead of numbers. I have tried doing the basic restart a number of times. It works for a while, and then the lines return. It will work for a couple hours and then blank out for a couple hours. I thought it might be the sensor so I ordered a new TX141TH-BV2. It arrived Monday, April 3rd. I set the display and sensor up like a new set and have used the basic restart three times in the 5 days since I received the new sensor. As I mentioned, the unit worked for most of two weeks before it started misfiring. I have put sensors in the same spot before, with success, so I don't think it's a problem with the location of the sensor. For the record, when I started typing, the outside temp and humidity were displaying perfectly. Now, as I finish, the lines are back. Thanks for your time and help.
After a few efforts I managed to find a spot where the sensor works consistently. Now, hopefully, my last question for you. Have people had good success using the 925-1418 Sensor Protection Shield? Will the signal still get through on a consistent basis?
Since I live in an apartment building my options are limited. The spot that offers a consistent signal doesn't offer an eave. So for about 3 hours a day my sensor is in indirect sunlight that affects the sensor by 10-12 degrees. I ordered a weather shield. Wish me luck!
just got this and love it. came with two displays and both of them have exact same temp and humid readings for in and outdoor so pleased with the accuracy
Does the support that keeps the unit click into place? I don’t want to break the support if there is not a position that locks the support arm in place. Thanks.
Hey John, this may actually depend on the model you own. Our newer stations will typically feature a friction controlled stand that will allow you leave the display sit in almost any position without needing to lock in place. If your display is sitting up on its own without a "click/lock" this is likely the stand your model has. Our older units did have various locking points that clicked into place. But as long as it's sitting up and stable on your countertop, you should be just fine. 😊
Hi Paulette, our apologies for the trouble. Assuming you own the C85845 model featured in this video, this is actually covered starting at the 3:52 mark. You can also find more specifics in the full product manual here: bit.ly/3aR7CRF
Once you set an alert for certain temperatures, what actually happens when the temperature reaches that level? Is there a beep or something that displays?
Great question! When an armed alert value is reached, the alert icon will flash and the station will beep 5 times every minute, or until the value is out of the alert range. You can press any button to stop the alert from sounding and the alert icon will continue to flash while alert value is in alert range. More on this and other features can be found in your full manual here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/media/catalog/product/c/8/c85845v3_web_120518.pdf
My C85845 just stopped working one day. Nothing on the display, completely dead and blank. even with new batteries and AC adapter as power source. Also changed out sensor batteries and it shows red light as functional but the station is still totally blank so not an issue of the two not detecting each other.
This is quite strange. Please send this message and your information to our support team here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/support/index/form/ and we'll work to figure out a solution. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Thank you, it is an amazing video! From the beginning I bought this device I think it is basic, but It is a really intellectual station, a lot of features, forecasts and more! Highly recommend!
Why does it need to be in a well shaded area? I find when it's in the shade, I get a reading that's much cooler than or actually is outside. Yesterday it was 107 degrees but my weather station was at 84 because I've got the sensor in an alcove by the front door.
In most cases, direct sunlight will cause inflated outdoor temperature readings. Our other video here: bit.ly/inaccurate_temp_readings will walk you through how to test the sensor's accuracy.
I recently purchased Model C85845 with Transmitter No. TX141TH-Bv2. This unit has had issues from day one. The instructional video is most helpful however performing a basic restart twice - the unit does not provide outdoor information - only dashes. Before the first restart, the outdoor temps were sporadic - however now the outdoor dashes are constant. I am ready to return this as it must be defective. Very disappointing...
I got the la crosse wireless color wether station as a gift. I did everything like it’s says an the outdoor temp doesn’t show. The remote sensor an the main unit has been setting for at least 4 hours. Does the remote have to be outside for it to read?
Hey Janice, we are truly sorry for the trouble. Our first suggestion would be to try the Basic Restart steps included at the 21:01 mark in this video, using a new set of regular alkaline batteries. After you have the power restored to both the sensor and display, press the small TX button located above the batteries on your outdoor sensor. This should force a transmission and connect your sensor almost instantly. If this does not work, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page for help getting a new sensor. Our apologies for this inconvenience.
Hey Ken, our apologies for not covering wall mounting in the video, but on the backside of the case there are two triangle holes (shown at the 22:24 mark) designed for this purpose. Simply close the rear stand and use a pair of nails, screws, or even push pins to hang the display on a wall using the trangle cutouts on the back.
I see this at Costco. We have a older Lacrosse Atomic Clock, Model No. 86722, that uses the same 433mhz frequency. Would this new unit conflict with my older system? Use the same transmitter? We still like the old unit that tells atomic time, and temperatures. Can we use the old transmitter for signal to the new one, assuming it would not include outdoor humidity. Would the new transmiter power the old unit?
Oops!! Correction! I just found out that our old Atomic Clock time station, model 86722 was made by a company called "Sky Scan". At least I think this represents the company name. For sure, it does not say "LaCrosse" any place on the clock. Still, the freq. is 433.92. Will the outdoor Lacrosse transmitter conflict with the Sky Scan transmitter? They would be used within 20' of each other?
Hi Tom, the EM-33 88 station is not made or serviced by La Crosse Technology; it appears to be one of many knock-offs that have copied our LCD designs. If you need help, we suggest contacting that company directly.
Hey Kim, this will typically just mean good weather conditions to come. If you could pass along the model number of your station we'd be happy to provide any further specifics. In addition, our forecast icons video here: bit.ly/forecast_vid goes into more detail regarding how these work.
Of course! Our selection of Battery-Powered Stations here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/collections/standard-battery-stations offer many of the same benefits as the C85845 model featured in this video, just without the color LCD. Combining this with a station that shows a seconds readout, our suggestion would be the 308-1451V2 Fisherman Forecast Station: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/308-1451v2
Hey Greg I came across your weather station on Amazon I like the fact it has atomic time I thought it was a great price so we're going to order it to have it for our home thank you for sharing this video soon as I saw lacrosse technology I wanted to actually see it work so here I am I typed in Lacrosse technology on RUclips and I found you hey man happy New year thanks for a great product
I have not been able to find any information on the small button in the remote sensor. What does it do? And why is ther no information about this button?
Hey Lance, the small "TX" button on your sensor stands for "Transmission". This button will force a transmission of its data to the display when pushed. As the sensor will do this every few moments on its own, we typically do not include its function in most of our manuals. However, this button can be useful during a reset or if you have other neighboring sensors nearby, as it should sync the sensor with your display almost instantly.
@@lacrossetechnology Thanks fot the information. I had pirchased a similar device from Kalevol but immediately returned it because the instructions were worthless. A common complaint among consumers is the terrible operator instructions. I get angry everytime i read something like "push the green button" when there is no green button anyplace. Manufactures should have Focus Groups for instructions like they have for products. The person writing instruction is unable to see the problems in what he wrote. I always have people read my writings before I publish them. I think even one little mention of the button would be very helful to your buyers. The alternative would be to get rid of the button.
@@cyberiaquest We appreciate the feedback and will be sure to pass this along to our R&D department. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your weather station. 😊
Hey Keith, the C85845 station can run on batteries; however, the LCD backlight will only come on for 10 seconds after a button push. We recommend using the provided power cord for best results and a constant backlight. The batteries are meant more as a backup option should your power go out.
Hey Luke, that could be the case. Just to be sure, have you tried a different outlet that you know works and checked to make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the back of the display? My display is hard to read at any distances. I can read it find up close but once I start moving away from the display it becomes harder to read. When I'm 8-10 feet away can't even read it. I have it plug in and the display on bright. Is there something I can do to make it brighter or do you think it's defected?
Have 3 of these already working great. Just set up 4th in separate area of our home. Display BLINKS on/off intermittently. To be clear, it turns on and off without being touched but seemingly with no pattern...just randomly. I tried swapping batteries, different outlet, etc. Any suggestions?
That is quite strange. Our first suggestion would be to try a basic restart: bit.ly/LaxTech_BasicRestart -- If these steps still do not resolve the issue, please get in touch with our support team here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/support/index/form/ and we'll work with you to get you a new display. We apologize for the troubles.
Hey Donald, both the language and time settings can be found in the Settings Menu. Be sure to press and hold the SET button until the settings begin to flash to enter the menu. This is all shown starting at the 5:54 timestamp in this video.
Don't understand why my outdoor readings are at least 5 degrees difference than that which is shown by my other LaCrosse weather station WS-9630U.IT and the difference in indoor humidity is 4 degrees different. Is there any standard setting one should use for Temps and Humidity alerts or is that personal?
Our (really) old Lacrosse station just died. It had two indoor stations. We always had one in the kitchen and one in our master bedroom. Do you have to buy another unit to get another indoor station? If so, will one interfere with the other? Also, our old station had the sensor sitting on a little post away from the house siding so air can circulate around it and buffer it from the heat of the house. Why does this one not have that feature? Is it as accurate?
Yes, I'm talking about the one in the video about the accuracy- the C85845. We just bought it at Costco, but haven't opened it yet. Just trying to make sure we want that one first. Our old one is model WS-7212U. It came with one sensor and two battery only LCD indoor stations. This is the one that has a sensor on a little pedestal stub sticking out from the siding, leaving an inch or two of space between the siding of the house and the sensor. I replaced the batteries in all three units. I forgot to take the batteries out of the inside stations first before changing the batteries in the sensor. So I removed all batteries from all three units, then inserted the ones in the sensor first, then the inside stations. But they are not getting the signal from the sensor. We are actually happy enough with the old units if you can tell me if there is a way to make them work?? The sensor is looking a little grungy though, but mostly just the protective cover on it.
Hey Bart, sorry for the confusion. These OFF Icons are simply used to indicate that you have no temperature alerts set. This is covered more in-depth at the 19:00 mark in this video and within your full manual and FAQ documents here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/C85845V4#support
Hi - I purchased the C85845 on around Dec. 10th 2017 as a gift for my husband. One week later we began getting dash lines on the left side instead of showing the outside temp. We have tried doing the restart a number of times. It works for a while, and then the dash lines return. It works for a few hours and then it shows the dash lines again. We also have tried to press the restart in the sensor but it doesn't seem to help. The unit will work for a while then does the above again. Also the weather icons are not showing properly....EX: when it is sunny outside we get rain/snow icons showing (not the sun icon) or it shows the storm icon. Also the tower icon (atomic) does not stay is it suppose too. The video says it will?? If there is no solution to the problems we are having what can be done? Thank you in advance!!! Linda
I have an outdoor shed that is about 50 feet from the house. It is unheated and open on one side. The temps are about same as outside. Any downside to this vs outside? Thanks
Hey Robert, assuming you're referring to a location to mount your outdoor sensor, this shed seems like it would be a good spot. Just be sure the sensor is in a shaded location and protected from direct rain and weather elements.
I bought two of these weather station, model C85845. Is it possible to only use one sensor for both stations or does each station require its own sensor? If so, will the sensors interfere with each other?
Mine is only displaying dashes for the outside temperature. So I followed your instructions here to reset it removing the batteries from the transmitter first, the unit second and then unplugging the unit and pressed the same button you did in the video 20 times, waited 15 minutes and reinserted the batteries into the outdoor sensor, then the unit and plugged it in.... NOTHING. No OUTDOOR temperature. Ugh!!!! I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. What else can I do?
Assuming you're using a new set of regular alkaline batteries in the sensor, these steps should have resolved the issue. A new outdoor sensor will likely be the fix at this point. For assistance with this, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook page. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.
@@lacrossetechnology thank you for the reply. Yes, we did put brand new alkaline batteries in the sensor and the unit itself. It finally just started working out of the blue... like 4 or 5 days after I wrote this to you. But at least it's working. :)

We got this weather station and we really like it. We've tested it against other thermometers, and it seems to be accurate within a degree or so. But, I was under the impression that I could receive signals from 3 different remote sensors. Is that right?
Hi Lily, we're happy to hear that you're enjoying your new weather station! Unfortunately, the C85845 model featured in this video does not allow for the addition of add-on sensors. If this is a "must have" feature, we'd be happy to pass along some suggestions to other models that do allow for this. Just let us know. :)
Forecast picture does not seem accurate . It has been in the 20 to 30 degree range and full cloud cover for the last 3 days and it has been showing the full sun image ?
Hey Jim, our apologies for any trouble. As noted at the 17:05 mark in this video, The calculations for this station’s weather icons are based on its internal barometric pressure reading. Keep in mind, these icons are designed to display a prediction of your weather to come within the next 6-12 hours, not necessarily your current conditions. And because the weather can be a hard thing to predict, even for professionals, we cannot claim these to be 100% accurate. For most of our stations, these predictions fall between 60% and 80% accuracy after the first ten days from the initial startup. If you're still within these first 10 days, the weather icon calculations may not be adjusted to your location just yet. Over time, these should become more accurate. One other thing to note, if you're located in an area that is above 6200ft elevation, these icons will likely not act correctly. If you fall in this category, please reach out to us here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page. From there, we'd love to help in any way we can. Sorry again for any inconvenience.
Hi Richard, we'd first suggest performing a side-by-side test as described in our other video here: bit.ly/inaccurate_temp_readings -- after moving the sensor inside next to the display for at least two hours, what are your indoor and "outdoor" readings?
@@lacrossetechnology The new and an older ANV130U were sitting side-by-side on my desk. Indoor temperature read 3.5 degrees higher on the C85845v4. I moved both stations to another room where they both read correctly. The only possibly significant difference I've identified is a halogen track light that was directly above the C85845v4 on my desk.
@@richardbusch9471 The track light and any number of factors can cause inflated readings. My weather station seems to be malfunctioning. Indoor temp is displayed but no outdoor information. I changed batteries in outdoor module but still nothing. Is it broken or am I missin* something. Don’t see anything in manuals
Hi Steve, our apologies for the trouble. We'd first recommend performing a basic restart covered in this video at the 21:01 mark. In addition to these steps, your sensor has a small TX button located above the batteries. Press this after you have the power restored to both the sensor and display. This should force a transmission and connect your sensor almost instantly. Be sure also to use new regular alkaline batteries from the same package. Other better types should be avoided. If this still doesn't work, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page for further assistance. Sorry again for the inconvenience.
Hey Summer, as mentioned at the 5:08 mark in this video, for accurate outdoor temperature and humidity values, you will want to mount your remote sensor outside in a fully shaded and well-ventilated area. Under an eave on a North-facing wall is often a great spot.
Hey Louis, great question, sorry we didn't cover this in the video. When an alert value is reached, the alert icon will flash and the station will beep 5 times each minute until out of the alert range. You can press any button on the display to turn the beeping off, but the icon will continue to flash until out of that alert range. More on this and other items can be found in your full manual and FAQ documents here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/C85845V4#support
Thanks for reaching out to us Jack. The C85845v3 is the third variation C85845. Compared to the previous models, the V3 has a new IC chip and the sensor is backwards compatible. If you have any more questions please let us know.
I just received my weather station and went through the proper steps for setup and the outdoor sensor will not find the weather station. I have tried doing a restart and also tried holding the temp button but they will not connect led light on sensor is blinking when I put batteries in . please help!!! the atomic time will not connect either.
Hey Kristal, we are truly sorry for the outdoor sensor trouble. In addition to the steps at the 21:01 timestamp in this video, your sensor has a small TX button located above the batteries. Press this after you have the power restored to both the sensor and display. This should force a transmission and connect your sensor almost instantly. If it does not, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page for assistance in getting you a replacement. In regard to your Atomic Time feature, moving your station near a window, away from other electronics, and having the front or back of it face Fort Collins, CO will help increase its chances of catching this signal and having it adjust your time automatically (typically happens within 3-5 nights). If you find yourself in a predicament where the time hasn’t adjusted automatically, it may be best to make sure to have your settings adjusted correctly but to also set the clock manually for the time being. This will allow the clock to remain at the correct time even if the WWVB signal is picked up in the future. More about how this signal works can be found here: bit.ly/AtomicTime Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the WWVB signal will reach all locations. For instance, if you live in a valley, are surrounded by buildings, or have other strong radio signals nearby, these can all cause interference, which can delay or even fully block this radio signal from reaching your station. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience.
Of course! As shown in the Initial Setup section of this video, our C85845 models will require the use of the provided power cord for a constant backlight. Batteries alone will allow the light to come on for about 10 seconds at a time. The brightness settings are covered at the 14:38 timestamp in the video. 😊
Is there a way to check the accuracy of the humidity level? The outdoor appears accurate but the indoor is 20 percent lower than the other one I have. I'm not sure which one is off but the old one can be checked by placing a wet rag over the sensor and appears reasonably accurate. Is there anyway to check this one?
Hey Roy, our apologies for any trouble. To test the accuracy, please bring the outdoor sensor inside and place it next to your La Crosse display for at least 2 hours. After this time, please let us know how close these humidity readings are. If they are within 14%RH of each other, the devices are likely in working order. Our tolerances are +/- 7%RH compared to the actual Relative Humidity (thus the 14% possible difference). If the values are outside of this 14% range, a replacement may be needed. For further assistance, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page.
Hey Robert, our apologies for the trouble. As suggested in our video on this topic here: bit.ly/inaccurate_temp_readings -- we'd first recommend trying a side by side test with the sensor next to your indoor display to compare readings. If the sensor is reading correctly after the two hours next to the display, then we'd suggest looking for possible changes near the outside location where the sensor was mounted. Or alternatively, you can message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport 😊
We recommend for sensors to be placed in well shaded areas to avoid high temperature readings from the sun. However, this also serves to keep it from being exposed to heavy rain. We recommend to mount the sensor vertically as well to allow for moisture to drain properly. If you are going to place the sensor in an area where it will be exposed a shield would help it to be protected.
Do I have this correct? I can use battery power only for the display, but I have to push a button to get 10 seconds of display time. ( Is there a similar offering where batteries power the display constantly? I guess I didn't shop closely...when it said 'wireless', I errantly assumed no power cord, either.
Hey Steve, our apologies for the confusion, but yes, that is correct. The "wireless" is in reference to the outdoor sensor. All of our current color LCD displays will require a power cord for a constant backlight. For a truly wireless experience, one of our non-color display models would be your best bet, as these do not require a power cord. Something like our 308-1417V2, WS-9250U-IT, or 328-96087 may be a good completely wireless alternative to our C85845 model featured in this video. You can find these, and other options on our website here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/collections/weather-stations -- Sorry again for any inconvenience, please let us know if you have any further questions.
I have the c85845v3. I followed the manual, but decided to skip the step for the outdoor sensor for now. Will be installing it in the next few days. But I noticed the outdoor side was being populated. Not only was it displaying, but it was displaying pretty accurately. I checked if the sensor came pre installed with batteries but it didn't. Where is it getting this reading from? Can it pick up wifi? Bluetooth? Signal waves? Someone else's outdoor sensor?
Our apologies for the confusion. If you are getting data without batteries in your outdoor sensor, this almost surely means your display has picked up the radio transmission from a neighboring sensor. Assuming the data is accurate, we do have many users who choose to share the sensor info with their neighbors. Keeping other Temp/Humidity sensors as backups or using them in other areas of their home (though the C85845 models specifically do not offer multiple sensor channels). If you prefer to use your own sensor's data, please use the following steps to get that sensor cynced with your display. 1. Bring your outdoor sensor inside next to the display and remove all batteries and power from both your sensor and display. 2. Press any button on the display at least 25 times and leave the two parts sitting without power for at least a few minutes. 3. Install a new set of regular alkaline batteries into the outdoor sensor and keep it near the display with the battery cover off. 4. Power the display back up using the power cord and/or a new set of regular alkaline batteries. After powering on, quickly move to step 5 to prevent the display from picking up another sensor signal. 5. On the sensor there should be a small TX button located just above the batteries, press this button to force a transmission signal. In most cases, this should connect the sensor to your display almost instantly. If you are still having trouble after this, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page for further assistance. Sorry again for any inconvenience.
@@lacrossetechnology Follow up question. Does it desync the other weather station base? In other words, can two bases connect to the same outdoor sensor at the same time?
@@naryneitred Yes, as long as each station is compatible with the same outdoor sensor, you can have any number of displays receive a single sensor's radio signal.
My atomic clock icon flashes to search but never seems to stay on. My time has had several errors in the past few weeks. I reset the time manually but the atomic time does not work
Hi Sue, if your clock is having trouble keeping time correctly, we'd first suggest to remove all power from the display (batteries and power cord), press any of its buttons at least 25 times, and then leave it sit without power for at least 2 hours. After this time, power the display back up by plugging the power cord into your outlet first, then into your display. Be sure also to use a new set of regular alkaline batteries for backup purposes. After these steps, your unit should function as new, with the station performing its initial search for the WWVB reception. Moving your display near a window, away from other electronics, and having the front or back of it face Fort Collins, CO will help increase its chances of catching this signal and having it adjust your time automatically (typically happens within 3-5 nights). If you find yourself in a predicament where the time hasn’t adjusted automatically, it may be best to make sure to have your settings adjusted correctly, but to also set the clock manually for the time being. This will allow the clock to remain at the correct time even if the WWVB signal is picked up in the future. More about how this signal works can be found here: bit.ly/AtomicTime Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the WWVB signal will reach all locations. For instance, if you live in a valley, are surrounded by buildings, or have other strong radio signals nearby, these can all cause interference, which can delay or even fully block this radio signal from reaching your weather station. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience. If you continue to have trouble with the time being incorrect, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page.
Hey Denise, we're glad you found this video helpful and apologize for the lack of batteries. Many items that were originally sold in stores did indeed come with all required batteries. @@lacrossetechnology thank you for your quick reply. I like the product very much and understand the possible shipping issue, I won’t require any further assistance. Thank you again.
I have a Springfield unit with no model or serial number and the remote sensor is not working consistently as well as dropping connection to the main station. What is the issue?
Hey Pat, this could be a few different things. A location issue, such as the sensor being too far away from the display or there is something causing interference (certain types of walls, windows, large objects, or other electronics can cause this). A power issue -- please be sure to use new reputable alkaline batteries in both the display and sensor, other battery types can sometimes cause transmission problems. Or it could be faulty hardware. Our suggestion would be to first try a new location for the sensor and/or display with a new set of alkaline batteries. Performing a basic restart may be helpful as well, this is covered in our video here: bit.ly/LaxTech_BasicRestart or starting at the 21:01 mark in this video. My unit is about a month old and I seem to be having a problem with the sensor. The other day we experienced a nor'easter with high winds and heavy rain. Humidity was 99%. The next two days were sunny and dry, yet humidity is still at 99%. I took down the sensor, put in new batteries (I used the recommended cold weather batteries), reset everything, got a strong signal and put it back outside. Although it has been cold and dry overnight and into the morning, it is still reading 99% humidity. The temp seems fine. I have had the señor inside for three hours and although the indoor humidity is 40%, the outdoor is stuck on 99%. You suggestions, please?

Hey Gerald, our sensors should not have any trouble handling the cold temperatures. Though they will not measure snow, they were designed to withstand all normal weather conditions, even the cold. We leave our rain gauges out all year long here in La Crosse, WI. However, if you prefer to store yours for the winter, remember to remove the batteries to prevent leakage, and in the spring when you take the sensor out of storage, you may have to do a complete reset of your station to reconnect the rain gauge. Our video here: bit.ly/Rain_SensorMounting talks about this in more detail. Please let us know if you have further questions.
Hello...would you please explain what "humidity level" exactly means? When I look for what % it is showing, it does not match any of my weather apps? Thank you Dan H
Hi Dan, the humidity number values represent your relative humidity percentage (RH%) for both your display and outdoor sensor locations. Please note, these values are for your hyper-local environment, weather forecast apps, or news stations will typically be taking data from your nearest airport, which in most cases will be miles away from your specific location. Because of this distance and any number of other factors in and around your home, it is not unusual to see a discrepancy between these values.
@La Crosse Technology Hello, thank you for your time with replying, and explanation. As an example, I live in millersville pa 17551, and weather station shows 56 degrees with 62% humidity. My weather bug app shows 56 degrees with 72 % humidity! Thank you, Dan H
Hi Kenneth, have you tried unplugging and replugging the station back in? Also, have you tried any other item in the outlet to make sure it is working? If so, and your station is not turning on, please contact our support team here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/support/index/form/ we'll work with you to get you a new working model.
Sorry for the trouble! Let's try a few steps to see if we can get this corrected: 1. Remove all power from your display. Including batteries and unplugging the power cord from both your wall and from your display. 2. Press any button on the display at least 25 times and leave it sitting without power for at least two hours. 3. Power the display back up by plugging the power cord into your outlet first, then into your display. If your model uses AA or AAA batteries, be sure to install a new set of alkaline batteries, other battery types should be avoided. If this does not resolve the issue, please send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page. Or alternatively, you can message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport -- Our apologies again for any inconvenience.
I just got a C85845 yesterday and completed the setup. However, the unit has been unable to connect with the wvvb time signal after 19 hours? I have even tried carrying it outside in the open and doing a manual search with the Set button. No luck? I have a old Oregon Scientific unit that can receive the signal.
Hey Ronald, we sincerely apologize for the trouble. There are many factors such as distance, interference, and location within your home that can disrupt the WWVB signal reception coming from Fort Collins, CO. Moving your station near a window, away from other electronics, and having the front or back of it face Fort Collins, CO will help increase its chances of catching this signal and having it adjust your time automatically (typically happens within 3-5 nights). However, if you find yourself in a predicament where the time hasn’t adjusted automatically, it may be best to make sure to have your settings adjusted correctly, but to also set the clock manually for the time being. This will allow the station to remain at the correct time even if the WWVB signal is picked up in the future. My new weather station is awesome ...but I'm not sure if the atomic time icon is suppose to stay lit at all time ... Mine blinks for awhile then shuts off ... Does this mean it is not connecting????
Hey James, with this being a new unit, it is likely that it hasn't picked up the WWVB signal yet. Putting it near a window, away from other electronics, and having the front or back of the display face Fort Collins, CO can help it make this connection. It is not abnormal for this to take a few days, and even once it is established the icon may disappear throughout the day and reconnect at night when it performs its automatic daily search.
We are thrilled to hear this, Craig! If you should ever have any questions, please just let us know. 😊

Sounds like instead of a weather station, your dad is ready for the glue factory. Can't even figure this out? Are you serious?
Awesome! Happy to hear that, Patricia. We're here to help if you should ever have any questions. 😊
The weather station was one of my favorite Christmas gifts. This video was outstanding. Thank you.
same here with me as well to.
This was a great video. The instruction sheet in the box was so limited that I almost sent the unit back. However, I called the help line and learned about their RUclips videos. This guy did a fantastic job and the organization of the video with an index allowing you to go right to the section you need is very helpful.
We are thrilled to hear this, Bob! If you should ever need any further assistance or have any questions, please just let us know. 😊
NEEDS TO BE UPDATED. Very confusing. Written instructions also not helpful.
our original "transmitter" broke on a windy day so I ordered another complete system not knowing if the transmitter was programmed to each base.

@@lacrossetechnology thanks for your quick response. I’ll do that. Thx again.

Good video. I had a question but it was resolved by reading another persons question and your answer.
Awesome set up video. Great to be able to stop and do the steps.
I am confused about the atomic time icon. Is the tower supposed to always show? It went away on my unit. But the video made it seem like it was supposed to stay on and not blink when it connected. ??
Dang! 285k views! I didnt realize there was that many other weather nerds out there!
Because of this valuable video, I now have full confidence in my new La Crosse weather station!!!
I got mine set fine but it changes the display from temp and time to alarm every 10 seconds, its really annoying. I have the alarm off but it keeps switching back and forth.
Thanks for the reply. Five days seems fair. I have contacted the support team and am in the process of working with them.
Excellent!! Thorough, very thorough!! Love it!!!

I do not see where the electric power cord gets inserted in back of station
Hi Paulette, our apologies for the trouble. Assuming you own the C85845 model featured in this video, this is actually covered starting at the 3:52 mark. You can also find more specifics in the full product manual here: bit.ly/3aR7CRF
Reset is very valuable technique - also I have replace the outdoor sensor contacts & it work like new - cost $1.00 . I love this la crosse station
Same with me. I did a restart per the video, replacing all the batteries, but the sensor is not connecting to the station. Did you solve your problem?
HOW DO I MOUNT THE DISPLAY UNIT TO THE WALL?
My EM-33 88 has its buttons on the right side ,do we not have the latest Weather Station?
Hi Tom, the EM-33 88 station is not made or serviced by La Crosse Technology; it appears to be one of many knock-offs that have copied our LCD designs. If you need help, we suggest contacting that company directly.

Hey Kim, this will typically just mean good weather conditions to come. If you could pass along the model number of your station we'd be happy to provide any further specifics. In addition, our forecast icons video here: bit.ly/forecast_vid goes into more detail regarding how these work.
unit doesnt record the correct outdoor temp. where does the signal come from?
Hi Peggy, first off, do you own the C85845 model featured in this video?
Does La Crosse have a similar device that does not require an unsightly electrical plug?
Does La Crosse have a device that shows seconds?

Can the monitor be used with batteries only without the power cord ?
Hey Keith, the C85845 station can run on batteries; however, the LCD backlight will only come on for 10 seconds after a button push. We recommend using the provided power cord for best results and a constant backlight. The batteries are meant more as a backup option should your power go out.
My dads dad has this weather station and I absolutely love how it looks😍😍
My unit will not turn on with just the cord plugged in. Only with batteries. Did I end up with a faulty AV cable?
Hey Luke, that could be the case. Just to be sure, have you tried a different outlet that you know works and checked to make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the back of the display? If so, and you're still unable to get it powered up, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page for assistance in getting a replacement cord. Where is the stand to prop up the weather station unit?
Our weather stations have stands that are built into the back of the case. These will either pull out or pull down and may require a little force.
The set button does not offer the language or time settings?
No worries. I found out how to reset by pressing any button 20 times. The old one is working again:)
My model C85845v4 has the Yellow Triangle for the indoor and outdoor set to off. How do I get this to be on?
Both Indoor and outdoor temperature readings are about 4 degrees high. Is there a fix or do I need to send the unit back?
Hi Richard, we'd first suggest performing a side-by-side test as described in our other video here: bit.ly/inaccurate_temp_readings -- after moving the sensor inside next to the display for at least two hours, what are your indoor and "outdoor" readings?
@@lacrossetechnology
The new and an older ANV130U were sitting side-by-side on my desk. Indoor temperature read 3.5 degrees higher on the C85845v4. I moved both stations to another room where they both read correctly. The only possibly significant difference I've identified is a halogen track light that was directly above the C85845v4 on my desk.

Hey do I put the remote inside or outside
Hey Summer, as mentioned at the 5:08 mark in this video, for accurate outdoor temperature and humidity values, you will want to mount your remote sensor outside in a fully shaded and well-ventilated area. Under an eave on a North-facing wall is often a great spot.
How does the Alert work. Is it a flashing signal or a sound?
Hey Louis, great question, sorry we didn't cover this in the video. When an alert value is reached, the alert icon will flash and the station will beep 5 times each minute until out of the alert range. You can press any button on the display to turn the beeping off, but the icon will continue to flash until out of that alert range. More on this and other items can be found in your full manual and FAQ documents here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/C85845V4#support
My new model has an additional digit (C85845v3) compared to the model in this tutorial. What's the difference?
More about how this signal works can be found here: bit.ly/AtomicTime
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the WWVB signal will reach all locations. For instance, if you live in a valley, are surrounded by buildings, or have other strong radio signals nearby, these can all cause interference, which can delay or even fully block this radio signal from reaching your station. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience.
Can the screen be set to stay lighted?

I’m having the same issue. Any resolve?
Is the outside sensor water proof or do I need the Weather Shield?
We recommend for sensors to be placed in well shaded areas to avoid high temperature readings from the sun. However, this also serves to keep it from being exposed to heavy rain. We recommend to mount the sensor vertically as well to allow for moisture to drain properly. If you are going to place the sensor in an area where it will be exposed a shield would help it to be protected.
Alright! Thank you!
Very well done!

Very informative, it made the set up a breeze
Power went and now my weather station doesn’t come back on. What should I do?
Hi Kenneth, have you tried unplugging and replugging the station back in? Also, have you tried any other item in the outlet to make sure it is working? If so, and your station is not turning on, please contact our support team here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/support/index/form/ we'll work with you to get you a new working model.
The display keeps flashing on and off. ????? Cannot find any answers to this issue.
Sorry for the trouble! Let's try a few steps to see if we can get this corrected:

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience.
My weather station is not reading the outside temp even after resetting the unit. Help!!!
Oh no! Sorry for the trouble, Dorothy. For further assistance, please message our support staff here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport, or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook page. We'd love to help get this corrected.
Filled out your online form for replacement, but still haven't heard from you. What is the process?
