I’ve seen safety ambassadors working at Third Street Promenade. They were eating ice cream from McConnell’s, standing around in a group so that some of them had their backs turned to the street. Real helpful.

I take 4 buses a day to commute to work in LA. Bus drivers let in all deranged people! I fear for my life and have to stay alert at all times. There is no security at all!!

There was a law passed, that violent people's mental health be evaluated over a period of two years. Then if they haven't gone to trial, they'll either be held or released.
But with jails and prisons closing, NEITHER is likely to happen!

We rarely saw these things when the sheriffs were patrolling the trains and checking for fares. Now every day it feels like you are on the crazy train.

My dad uses the metro bus some times when he wants to save gas money. He goes to work and im so scared for him. I dont want nothing like this happening to him or any other innocent person. This is sad that people have to fear getting on a metro bus or train just to get to work. Be alert everyone we have to protect ourselves. No one else will.

What if, just a thought, she was a crazy White homeless lady? I was attacked and assaulted BY ONE IN north hollywood 2 years ago and lost eyesight in one eye. Racism is sometimes reasonable, other times its a mental trap that solves nothing.

I rode the metro to and from Long Beach Grand Prix it was quiet for most of the ride, but not once did I see a sheriff or someone from metro on the train or platform. If you have a crappie car but it runs, take that instead than risk your life on metro.
That's why I live in a constitutional carry state and a stand your ground state a person would think twice about doing that where I live for the simple fact the majority of honest good hard-working people are protecting themselves from criminals law enforcement cannot be at every crime scene as it's happening you have a right to protect yourself and your family and your business and the Liberals want to try to take that away from you when every liberal politician has got an armed security guard and a big fence around their homes as long as they feel secure they could care less about you

I took public transportation all my life when growing up in both SD and NYC. One thing I learned was just avoid confrontation. It sucks that you have to be very guarded and give up your seat sometimes, even if you're in the right, but better to have your well being than to assert your right to a seat and be harmed.
Severe burns were healed. (As best they could), Meaning a year has past. They said "she faces charges" meaning she has still not came to trial in year or more. Smart money says she will get time served and probation. After all he was just an old white guy.......and she is a protected class.

If the city wants people to take public transporation they need it to be safe, clean and NOT free. They need police on each train. They need to study what Europe does to keep their trains desirable to travel on
YES! In Finland, or Norway, or Denmark, or Japan, you just don't see this kind of thing on public transport. But then again, in those places there is _Universal Health Care,_ which includes _mental_ health care, and very little homelessness (pretty much ZERO homelessness in Finland!)...while in the US, homelessness, mental health issues, and hardcore drug addiction are getting out of control.
And, let's face it, most of these horrific attacks are being done by people who fall under the dangerous "homeless/mentally ill/drug addict" combo.
These people should NOT be allowed to board public transport TO BEGIN WITH. They are ruining a service that we, as a nation, should actually be investing in and using as a viable way to help with congestion, pollution, and climate change.

So, here in Portland we have a light rail. Anyone walks on the platform and bords the train. We have fare inspectors that you'll see seldomly. Then you have security guards that stand huddled in masses in some stations. Before the pandemic there used to be police officers in one station where everything crossed, only to capture fare evaders. Waste of resources. But now we have people smoking fentanyl almost at every platform.
Stop believing the city leaders who keep saying it's safe. It's not safe!! This is one incident that's being reported but what about the dozens of others that weren't??

The solution is so simple, hire huge guys to check the fare at every entrance of every station. All those trouble makers don't even pay the fare. Busses are fucked. This happened on 5/7/2022- so why is it being reported now? This is just more dumping on LA Metro. You have to look at the amount of crime compared to the amount of people using.
If they wanted to, the news could report every single traffic accident/injury in the city that happens and that would make people terrified to drive.
I was a foreign tourist visiting LA earlier this month and took the Metro twice during daylight hours and both times I had to leave for my own safety as most passengers were clearly on drugs and some acting super aggressively right near me. I didn’t report it since there was nobody at the station to report the incident to but instead hired a car for the rest of my trip and will never set foot in the LA Metro again. I don’t know why there are so many people like you defending the metro when it’s clearly out of control. The city and police needs to be empowered to remove the drug addicts (and strictly do so) from the Metro before it is safe to ride.

@@Mlogan11 yes they do. I’m an Aussie who travels around the world frequently but primarily to Japan and the USA. My story is the total truth. I’ve never felt threatened on a train in Japan or Australia - even in New York City during this same USA trip I never felt threatened on the MTA there - LA Metro is just something else. You can dismiss me or face reality - but I won’t be recommending LA as a tourist destination based on my negative experiences. At least Death Valley and Joshua Tree were some nice parts of California.
Not victim blaming here but if someone sitting behind me tells me that they're crazy I believe them. This is why I never stand or sit anywhere with my back to a possible threat if I can help it. I'll even request different seats in a restaurant because of it.
