- The school cafeteria is often an overlooked facet of a student's overall experience. With health concerns currently trumping conversation, looking at school food in a new light can reveal how nutritional goals are only a piece of what the cafeteria has to offer. It may not be the first place that schools think to look for advancing missions, but one school is sharing its experience in founding a sustainable food program with unlimited potential to influence academics, health, and community.
In the 2013-2014 school year Nardin Academy in Buffalo, NY began its journey towards creating a school food program that was about more than just food. Join us in sharing the story of how Nardin Academy integrated the cafeteria into its mission and values while serving bodies and minds more nutritious, clean, and scratch cooked foods.
All schools have different drivers, limitations, and goals, but this is a story that can be told across the nation in all kinds of communities.
