You have guided me since day one. I learned about becoming an online teacher through you. All I wanted was to pay my debt off. I absolutely just wanted to make some money and pay the debt and then be done with it. Then once again, there you were showing me what you can do with online teaching. I paid off $40,000 in debt teaching solely online. Then earlier this year I stumbled across your Beyond Teaching Online Course and thought “Time to make a change”. I jumped in. The course was focused on recruiting but I realized what my niche was due to your course. My path has followed yours but there are other areas I found to be my passion. I love helping teachers succeed online. Thanks to you I found my niche and now I’m signed on with Amy Porterfield! I’m so excited to get to work on my course to help teachers learn how they can take control of their online business by finding their path through marketing, curriculum, setting their own salary/schedule, and teaching as an independent/freelance teacher! Thank you! You helped me realize how far I can go and that I can do more with this business than I ever realized.
Leah Sparrow this is so beautiful Leah!! I’m so excited for all that is to come and so proud of all that you have accomplished! I’m blown away with all the possibilities online as well.
Hi Leah sparrow i send you One thing blogging and good copywriting share is a conversational style, and that means it’s fine to fracture the occasional rule of proper grammar in order to communicate effectively. Both bloggers and copywriters routinely end sentences with prepositions, dangle a modifier in a purely technical sense, or make liberal use of the ellipsis when an EM dash is the correct choice-all in order to write in the way people actually speak.
@Miss Mikayla Jayne Marriott Thank you for the grammar lesson. It is also completely acceptable in social media to respond in a more conversational matter since it is not a formal writing platform. Additionally, proper grammar structure does not seem to be top priority in most forms or writing. Including the classics from such authors as Jane Austen, Lewis Caroll, and Emily Dickinson to name a few. Proper grammar is merely taught in schools to provide the foundation to good writing, but a truly exceptional writer who wishes to touch the soul of the reader and create a conversation with the reader is one that breaks the rules.
Hey everyone!! Let me know in the comments which one of the 10 resonated with you the most or if you have an additional source of income that you'd like to share with the community! Cheering for you!!
Nancy Taylor I’ve followed you since starting VIPkid many moons ago. I’m intrigued by your business path. I’d really love to offer services especially now to help families and kids who may be falling behind because of this pandemic. How do you brainstorm/come up with ideas for things you want to tackle?
Kayla M what an excellent place to serve. You could most definitely do some research to find the specific problem you want to solve for that specific audience and then start offering a specific service to solve it to a small group for free/beta price and then grow and scale from one-on-one/small group to more. I’d love to dive more into this topic inside a video! Some services that come to mind are tutoring on your own online to support at home education or offering small group trainings or specific resources that aren’t in person to support these families. Such a great space to focus to help during this educational transition!
Nancy Taylor thank you for taking the time to respond! All great ideas! It would definitely have to be something long term for sure and not just during a pandemic. I’m asking around on Facebook groups to see if there are any common missing links right now.
Nancy, I have been watching your videos since you started for VIPKID! I was already a teacher at that time and I remember your first video for VIPKID! You have really grown and I am sooooo proud of you. This video was super helpful and I would love to see more videos like this (you asked for feedback). Although I no longer work for VIPKID, I'm teaching virtually for my Public School due to the pandemic! I understand most of what you are talking about in this video, but the list factor was very helpful (I took notes) and I plan to start getting my Virtual Teaching Life started today! Keep up the great work! Your baby is beautiful! Andrea Nichols Halstead
Okay, Nancy! I have to take notes here to keep track of that much information lol 1. Sell my Teaching Resources online 2. Recruiting 3. Affiliate links 4. Offer Coaching 5. Sell a digital course 6. Monetizing a RUclips Channel 7. Add another online company (Outschool) 8. Have a membership 9. Offer a service 10. Own tutoring thank you!!!!
Great video Nancy! I've been working and focusing on teaching independently, and just focusing on that! There are SOOOOO many options out there. Grateful for these opportunities!
Yay! I'm all about number 1!! My businesses on Etsy and TPT (Mechell's Classroom) are taking off and I'm taking a course next month to learn and grow further 😊 you've been a big inspiration through this process. Thank you Nancy!
mechell le roux amazing!! This makes me so happy! Having a mentor and taking the time to learn will bring big results!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 what course are you taking?! I’d love to hear!
I look forward to hearing about how to market an online business. I started with VIPKID and watched your videos when I first started over 3 1/2 years ago. I've launched by teaching business, but have to admit marketing it to students in my country has been challenging primarily because I need to figure out ways to market. I really want to work on my RUclips channel. Please share more videos about this topic. Thanks.
Loved this video! I'm trying to incorporate online teaching into face-to-face teaching during this pandemic and it's anything but easy - this was very inspiring!
Thank you Nancy for the video I am working on a course for Udemy and it is about how teach English online using Zoom features with practical examples. I will finish it soon. I just think about how to make marketing for it and make it be sold well.
Love this video! I'm a business coach for teachers that want to start their own online tutoring business. Just curious, do you have a video editor? I love how your videos are edited, it looks awesome!
Hey Sonia! I do have a video editor & my videos look much more professional with their help! Their name is "Create and Elate." Shoot me an email if you want their info!
Good gracious I just love your treasure full of knowledge! These are golden nuggets! And now we all know that you get all your best ideas from Ava..."If you do everything!" ....and I'm also really wanting some ice cream now...
Wow. Really eye opening. I'm just starting out on the TEFL road. I was impressed when I came across your VIPKID videos. Now you are moving on, you definitely challenge my tunnel vision. At school in South Africa all the children and staff call me Mama J. When teaching with VIP or any other company, must I be called Teacher Janet?
You can definitely go by J. I would do some research to see if "Mama" would be appropriate. Most students refer to their teachers as "Teacher (their name or preferred name)" so if you wanted to use Mama J then I would just create a ticket and ask if that is appropriate to be on the safe side! Love it;)
Nancy, this is just what I want. I need to expand beyond Outschool and want to build a brand about..... who knows? I am signed up for Amy’s free class Friday, but I know that leads to a very expensive course. I have to make choices. So do I go with her course or start with what you offer? I’m retired so I’m past the working 7 days a week stage. So what do you suggest?
Debbuck Buck great question!! Amy Porterfield’s training is helpful in seeing if a digital course is something you want to offer. It works really well alongside the course I offer about building a profitable RUclips channel too, so I understand exactly where your question is coming from. I’d love to help you discover the best route for you! Shoot me an email at heynancytaylor@gmail.com and we can chat details. My course opens again in October and focuses specifically on RUclips and building an audience to serve and run your business with. I think it comes down to what you want to be doing a year from now. I will always share my honest feedback, and I’m a huge fan of teachers building their own brand!! There is tons of free content to help discover the best route I can point you to as you are doing your research🎉🎉
Which one do you think would be the smartest for a SAHM with two tiny babies? I’ve worked for vipkid for 2 years but the hours of working are just too difficult with my kids now. What should I do?
I have seen the greatest results and bang for my buck with Affiliate marketing (Recruiting essentially) and coaching clients. If you are able to open up your own coaching services you are able to charge what you see the value of the results you bring are. You could be making $100+ an hour vs $20. The sky really is the limit, and there is no cancellation policy! :) My fave! I'll have more videos about branding & income opportunities that I dive deeper into in the coming videos!! P.S. Do you have twins?!
HI! Here is a link that will take you to a free download that has a lot of online ESL teaching jobs and the requirements for each one! I hope it helps and that you find something that will be a good fit!
**Some affiliate links are used, which means that I earn a small commission if you click the link and make a purchase** - Amy's course is $2,000. Affiliates receive 50% of this participant payment. That is not a "small commission". #TruthInPromoting
