    Hilarious ... talking about vegetables and then eating chips! I loved how with the second student (Nancy) the act of you putting on chap stick caught her attention and led to a really nice conversation in English. It showed comprehension through a real-life connection. That was amazing to see ... and it wasn't even planned!

    You are such a Pro at taping, Sweet Nancy! They don't miss a thing, do they! "May I ask you a question?" (Yes.) "What did you put on your lips?" :) This little girl has amazing speaking skills! :)

    Oh wow! So helpful! Thank you! This addressed my concern about transitioning students from 50/50 to 70/30. Also, I'm very impressed by the older student that was able to carry on a conversation. I liked how you responded to her question and then were able to bring the focus back to the task at hand.

    Nancy, I am about half way through a masters program for elementary education and my current class is all about ELLs. I have been listening to all of your strategies and they have helped me so much with my assignments and understanding. I am a very visual learner and although I am on medication for ADD, I still sometimes struggle, for example, I always need things explained VERY thoroughly. The way you talk about these strategies is on point with all the text I am reading and I love the way you demonstrate for those watching your video and then with students. I also love how you show a couple different ability levels. I don't normally comment on anything but I wanted you to know how helpful you have been to me and I have shared your videos with my class, online, and they have loved them as well! Thank you!!!

    Perfect!! It really helps to see how you get them to extend their answers without you actually speaking again, I always seem to lose a lot of my 70/30 ratio by having to ask them to speak more, your tips will help! Thank you

    Watching you is like meditating and praying. I always feel great and that much more prepared! Congratulations on your new addition to the family, by the way. I'm currently working through the Major Course Jump Start Program. I just started (Yes, in FEBRUARY lol. The "same" time as you I discovered), and I'm trying to get parents to book me. Thank you for this =)))

      You are so sweet Reem! March should bring bookings, and all of your preparation and hard work will pay off when you have a student on the other end:) Keep up the great work! Happy teaching!

    • @reemalabed3694
      @reemalabed3694 6 лет назад

      Eeep! You responded. I've got the goofiest grin right now =))) I completed all the lessons and have been assigned a trial student tomorrow. I am certified in all levels to teach MC but I don't really know what to expect from a Trial class. A little nervous I must admit. I don't know how "strict" I'm supposed to be over pronunciation or how important it is to get through the lesson. I don't know if I'm supposed to do corrections or expect them to participate. I hear Trial Classes are all about keeping it fun. Any tips...?
      And thank you by the way. I hope I'll be very prepared for when those classes come.

    I am all about complete sentences, but I have a unique class right now. The child is new, already had 12 classes, both times he just jumped up and down on the bed. From the little assessment I could see, he had not retained any material. We worked on behavior and I put honest feedback to parents with suggested changes. I didn't see him anymore until today. THEY LISTENED! But it was a UA and he did not do well. Now that he is focused, I was able to get him to laugh and repeat but it was 70% me. I need that to switch but he already has habits. Any suggestions? Thanks for your videos. luci lockhart gmail. no spaces.

    • @NancyTaylor
      @NancyTaylor  6 лет назад

      Keep doing what you are doing!! Your student's output will improve as you continue to engage him in class. Find things that he enjoys and use them in class. The parents end is huge so continue to be honest in your feedback. Sometimes while you are training a student you feel like you are talking more than him/her, but as long as you are always giving the student the opportunity to speak 50% then you are doing your part!! Continue to give wait time and see if your student starts talking more in class!! You rock!
