Thank you for posting your motor bike trip from PhnomPenh to Sihanoukvile. You are amazing to survive this trip as a foreigner. The roads are worst in rainy days.
Fun fact: They didn’t understand when you tell them “Sihanoukville” not because you didn’t pronounce it right but because no one here really calls it that 😅 we either say “Preah Sihanouk” or “Kompong Soam”

It’s always fun to get lost in a foreign country. Some people would be worried or panic but I like the way you adapt to each situation and go with it. 👍
Regarding the room, sure maybe it shouldn’t have cost $20 but the most important thing is you were out of the rain and somewhere to sleep for the night.

It's standard rate now in Cambodia . nothing cheap in Cambodia anymore since Chinese arrival.yes it's expensive but Cambodia has gotten very expensive in my opinion.

Fantastic video! I love your channel and adore the Cambodian people. I've been there a few times. Another time I booked a non refundable flight from Bangkok to spend a week, but then checked the weather and saw it was supposed to be heavy rain every day, then found out it was Monsoon season, so I just forfeited the money. You could have done the same but would have missed a great adventure. Sometimes the least fun is the most fun to look back on.
As an American expat living in SE Asia, I couldn't agree more.

Though the ride was a difficult one and you took it as a challenge and gone ahead with the ride to explore and you are so lucky that you got the Room to stay and to take some rest for your rest of the journey and the people are so friendly too even though you paid them. It was an adventurous journey on a motor bike that too on a rain and the most important thing you take a good care of your wife in the entire journey.
Best way to travel....no matter how big or small the motorbike is......nice interaction with the family...good luck to you both..

You ain’t lost in Cambodia as long as you can stick your card in an ATM machine. Those roads are less than normal for the monsoon season. And it’s the definitely the coolest season with less rain in the last 3 years. Keep riding around hoss.

From phnom penh to sihanoukville nowadays is the worst highway in cambodia, There are more smooth highway like N6 (National road number 6).But now from Phnompenh to sihanoukville we have Expressway too.
In Cambodia...they call Sihanuvill....krong Preah Sihanu or Kampong Som

Road number 4 is closer road but road number 4 is the oldest road you should go to road number 3 or soon will be open new highway road which will open on October 2022.
I have part time home in Surin Thailand about 40 km from Cambodian border. Crossed over once and was so happy to get back to Thailand, not for me.

Actually if u go from Phnom Penh to siemreap I’m sure the road is better and not as crowded and dusty, oh yeah and also there is a future highway coming up in a few weeks from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville.
The road from Poipet Kampong Chhnang really bad for people taking the night sleeper bus.Very bumby...can't sleep. Also the road in Toul Plo....red granite...muddy

You were scammed. That room for 80000 riels or $20 bucks! 😢 that was a super scam. You should have driven farther lock into Agoda or booking if you were willing to pay $20 for a room. Honest that room was not even worth $2 (old prices).

this is not the rode where the i usually took. but since you said you take the fast one that's probably why. hate to admit it but the traffic here are pretty wild so do be careful.
that "hotel" room at 16:47 should not cost 20$. it's a robbery. I haven't been to Cambodia yet but that's too expensive for the quality. I know it's not the same country but I could get a beautiful room with breakfast included and semi private swimming pool outside the room in Ubud, Bali for example for the same price or a decent hotel in rural Philippines with air con for that money

Hi Gabriel and Ploy, it looks like the situation ripped you off ! 20$ it doesn't worth for 100 Bhat. The roads n it's the country sides' conditions looks like some 35 years back of Samui （as I first set foot on Samui ）, there were not even street lights on Samui. Morning after one could found dead dogs' bodies everywhere in the streets from Choug Wing beach direction nowadays Samui Central.
Good for you, what an adventurous trip. I think it worth all the risks n challenges.

You should have traveled on National Road 3. The road condition is better than National Road 4.
Just look up motorbike rental in phenom Penn. There are a few places easy to find. Dont know why you did it that way. It's just that they have a scam where they might steel it back and charge you. Als watch the gas stations there. They may charge you extra. But they will also give you candy, if that helps.

Never leave your passport with anyone! Tell them to photocopy it, never leave it!
Try to travel with a cheap Honda Wave , Cub, Dream or something like this. You don't need a big bike in Cambodia.
And if you pay with Dollars ,the banknote must be perfect. If not ,they don't accept. It's a Cambodian attitude.
And if you don't want have rain , come to Cambodia from November to March.
And for 20.-$ you normally get a luxury room. This room is worth 5.-$ ! Always try to bargain.
