I find it silly that the computer will adjust for error but is hopeless at adjusting back to normal position.
Stupid programming, gmc wants a slap with a wet fish :-D

Thanks Doc! Had this happen on 2003 Tahoe 5.3 about 5 years ago, throttle body was not that dirty but I cleaned it, wiped out the code and as of today have not had an issue with it again.
This was a refresher video for me. I have a 07 Chevrolet Trailblazer with a 4.2, & was showing both these codes P1516, & P2101; I do have a code reader that lets me know whats going on along with a Haynes repair manual to tell me what the code is. I never had the new throttle body recalibrated since the install. So I'll just take in to shop to have it done, But at least I'll go in with some know how what needs to done by the shop. Thanks for the video & the help. I did watch another video on how to install a ball joint on my Chevrolet C3500 dually, & You used the same van that your working on in this video; Again it was very helpful; Also I went ahead sub. to your channel; IMHO your the best; Thanks again.
thanks for the video it really helps the world out there ! in my situation i disconect the TB connection then clean air filter MAF sensor all intake pipe and throttle body . i think the problem was The throotle body , it was full of carbon . reset codes and it got fix !!! THANKS 🙏🏼 my truck is 2007 escalade esv

Question, if you don’t have the proper scan tool, would disconnecting the battery and connecting the P+/N- terminals together also reset the Idle Fuel Trims so it will Re-learn? Just curious if that’s a work-around if you don’t have the scan tool. I know sometimes that works for relearning transmission shift points etc.

Just set code. I don't mind having power reduced when it caused my I-6 2006 Trailblazer increasing gas mileage from 16 to 25.7 mpg!

Hello. I have a 2010 buick enclave and recently changed the tps with throttle body and I have the code p2176 idle position not learned. What can I do?
Replaced a battery in a 2006 Chevy Colorado, 2.8L, 236,000. I've done it before with no issues. This time I got a rough idle, a P2101 code and reduced power. Replaced throttle body and accelerator pedal. Reset the PCM and still have the same problem. Could the problem be the PCM or maybe a ground problem?
I got a Reduced Engine Power message and P2176 when I went to start my car. I went to get throttle body cleaner but as I tried to leave the parts store my car would not start. Lights worked and my car was clicking. My battery was at least six years old so I figured it must be going bad so I replaced it and so far that seems like it may have been the cause of the issue all along.
No but at least you have a new battery!
It will relearn on it's own. But doing it with the scan tool is just a bit quicker.

I've got an 04 Escalade That randomly goes into reduced power mode. I've replaced the throttle body and throttle body plug. When it goes into low power mode, I can shove the throttle body connector on and it will run fine for a few weeks which is what it was doing with the old throttle body. I've wiggled the lead with no change. It's also throwing P1516 and C0455 codes. Traction control is disabled too when it goes into reduced power mode. What should I be looking for?
I've done all that minus the scan tool hook up for the relearn on my Chevy Silverado. But my mechanic said I didn't need it. It was only if it was running bad after I replaced the throttle position sensor clean the throttle body and replace the throttle body gasket. Now I'm getting reduced power. A p1516 code and all that other fun stuff. Never got any of that stuff before. Just a tack module code now. Before it was just a throttle position sensor code.
What you do to fix it I got the same problem
@@bignuts8440 I had to get an OEM throttle body with throttle position sensor to fix the problem. They said that was the only way. Because i replaced it with after market ones and still had the same problem.

my 2011 camero stalled thought it was the battery jumping it didn't help so had it towed home. then when i had the battery charged back up,the check engine light was on then it had these codes, p2176, p069e & p2176 twice. so when it stalled i thought it was the battery so could this be the reason that the car wouldn't take a jump.
Hello Doctor. Can you give me your opinion on our Enclave issue? We have a 2011 Enclave CXL 2WD. It has 110K miles. Like a month ago it reduced speed on highway and showed "Reduced engine power", when my wife took it to Autozone for codes it showed several misfires. I researched the issue online and ended up cleaning the throttle vary and it worked perfect. The engine light disappeared when I reset the computer. No more issues until 3 weeks ago when were driving on the highway and the same situation happened. I took it to Autozone and the code was "misfire on injector 5". After I kept driving it the engine light disappeared by itself and the car was working fine until today. I was driving very slowly on the park and the same message came to the board, the car lost power and a lot of white smoke. I took it to Autozone and the code read misfire on injectors 1,3,5 and issue with fuel pressure regulator. Do you have any idea what could be the issue with this car?

2007 GMC Sierra. Reduced power mode. First the codes came back as PO69E, P2135,P2176. Cleaned the throttle body didn't work. Replaced the throttle position sensor on the throttle body didn't work. Now replaced the pedal position sensor and it went away for a few days but today went into reduced power mode and the whole engine just died in the middle of the road and wouldn't crank or anything. After 5 min it started right up. Now the same codes are reading above plus a couple more. P1516 and P2101 are now showing up with the other 3 codes listed above. I figured since I clean the throttle body, replace the throttle position sensor, replace the pedal position sensor, that the other codes would have went away but actually two more codes popped up after the truck when in reduced power mode and died.I'm beginning to think it's a sensor on my fuel pump which would mean the whole fuel pump might as well be replaced because the sensor is located in the gas tank.but why would all them other code still be popping up after I change the other two sensors? Any help would be appreciated.

No, it was the 90 on the pcv valve . It was dry rotted and cracked.
That engine compartment seems like hell to work on no room whats so ever.

Just curious, is a idle learn reset necessary on all makes and models when removing the throttle body for cleaning or does the computer have the ability to do it on its own. Love all your videos, thanks.......
It will automatically reset by its own.but if the model is very sensitive to any codes it will re-appair in scan tools the codes

Agreed, and whats worse is they try to make it necessary to have a different computer scan tool for each make of vehicle thus preventing most independent shops from servicing various vehicles. Modern vehicles have enough computing power to perform self contained diagnostic work and report back to the manufacturer status and faults who in turn contact the owner and recommend service at their facilities. You tell me there isn't the technology in use that would allow the end user to diagnose and service their own issues. OK, theres my rant for the day. Thank you for watching my vids!
