I think Frech deserves some credit for playing a good match.
She is not in the same league. And in theory the Garcia that beat Osaka should never lose to Frech

Osaka tried to hit lights out every ball and made so many mistakes against Garcia’s big shots, where Frech’s counterpunching was able to stay in the rally and make Garcoa hit lots of balls. That was the difference.
Therefore Garcia should have prepped for Frech. Why did she lose serve here and not against Osaka. pathetic showing

@@adrianrichards I think all female tennis players against Naomi put their best tennis because they know Naomi will almost always be the one to beat! Extra motivation too is the publicity one elicits if they beat Naomi, so everyone prepares hard and focus to play against Naomi. My two cents.

Garcia broke Frech at the start of the first set and twice in the second, if she had served better, she would have kept her breaks, especially at the end of the second set where she accelerated by winning ten points out of eleven in a row to lead 6-5 30-0. Frech was unable to do anything on her serve which she lost, scoring only one point. Garcia should have continued like this, but Frech managed to thwart her by placing herself four meters behind the baseline and returning balls without consistency, forcing Garcia to make the play, which she did by taking too much risk.
Would rather see Osaka here. wow.

this is how someone like Raducanu wins a slam, an inconsistent player plays a good game and eliminates a really good player, then makes way for a mid player by loosing to them on a bad day....etc. but thats destiny. congrats to Frech. I hope Jelena doesnt eliminate Iga too

Garcia fully disappointed..i have seen the score in 2nd set where garcia leads and she just 2 points away for winning 2nd set..after 5 mins i watched again then game is done in 2 sets..what a shame..unable to find 2 points

And after the "Tennis podcast" reminded us that Andy Murrary once tweeted that Garcia would be future #1 because "she's just that good", she loses in the 2nd round. I swear, those three are just like, "OMG, look, a woman can hit a tennis ball! Amazing!" They just refuse to point out the real reason Garcia took out Osaka.

@@jkscout the "real reason Garcia took out Osaka" being...? Ir was a pretty competitive match. Osaka wasn't the quickest and had some backhand errors that she didn't used to, but she's also been out of the tour for quite a while now-playing against an in-form Garcia she did well all things considered.

This is why i cant put money on players like Kvitova or Garcia. You never know which one you are going to get from day to day. One day they will play lights out (like Garcia did against Osaka) and then the next she plays this kinda tennis.
