    Anybody else being an ISFJ that has problems voicing their opinion to people in fear of causing an argument or turbulence?
    I know i am, and i hope i can get better at it, my opinion does matter :(

      @Banunae 8 лет назад +57

      it happens the same with me. i dont like more than half of the things my friends like and i reserve my opinions to dodge fights

    • @joppekim
      @joppekim 8 лет назад +38

      Sounds so simple yet it is so hard.
      Sure i can voice my opinion under deaf ears but i really want to make them change their opinion because i know they are wrong.
      Fear of confrontation stops me from doing anything.

    • @joppekim
      @joppekim 8 лет назад +2

      I have said that aswell and it works.
      But you still end up as the guy with no opinions. If i continue to say that to the same people they will eventually stop taking me seriously.
      But saying that is what works the most.

      Both yes, and no. I have a "threshold of closeness" of which people I allow to instill that fear in me. When it comes to those very close to me, like long-time friends or family, that fear is very real. To the majority of my good friends, acquaintances, work colleagues, etc. I have no fear.
      For the most part, in the instances where I've given up speaking out to close friends or family, it has been over issues that have been argued over for years and years, to the point where the pain of the conflict has become greater than the pain I am speaking up over. It's not worth it at that point to argue.

    As an ISFJ, I’m quite social for an introvert, I love meeting new people and my introverted side usually appears when there’s a large group of people where I tend to be more of the observant and calm type. As much as I love people, I prefer working alone when it comes to studying or serious stuff. But sharing the results and enjoying my time after, I love to do it among my people. A lot of people might say ISFJ’s are routine people, but I like trying new stuff and experimenting.

    The worst part of being an ISFJ Is that it’s essy to suddenly feel like your being taken advantage of . When you finally muster the courage to speak your mind the other person has a blooming fit. It’s like where did this come from ? Well, it’s been there all along but I get caught up in helping the other person despite my misgivings. When I feel comfortable enough to express myself it’s usually to late and met with negativity furthering the cycle

      Exactly!!! I hold my tongue for almost 29 years! because of tough periods I feel like I'm losing th ebattle with my inner self and social media isn't good 'cause on social media I can speak my mind but now someone I've known for 16 years has blocked me 'cause I changed to a bad person she said. I'm still me but I'm done with some bullshit from others.

    As an ISFJ, I go out of my way to make others happy. Don't really get the same back as I do not have an assertive personality. I hate making others uncomfortable and I am very sensitive and perceptive to others emotions. I am also a very good reader of others. I tend to meet someone and know straight away whether I will like them or not. I am very set in stone with my morals and viewpoints too, which I guess makes me quite a judgmental person. But I balance it out by thinking of others point of view too, in order to not upset them. I think being an ISFJ is not the best personality type to have as its emotionally exhausting pleasing everyone. but it's great to have someone with this personality as your friend, because we are kind hearted people ☺️

    As an ISFJ, this video has completely made my day. I sometimes doubt my type because of the way it is portrayed but when I see the full picture, as shown in this video I don't doubt it one bit. The only thing that is different is the 'warm and friendly' thing - I am warm and friendly to a point, but it would most certainly not be the first thing someone would notice about me, especially if they don't know me.
    I really appreciated how this video acknowledged the realism/cynical side of the ISFJ, because I've never really seen that before said by anyone else, even though it's one of my most definitive personality traits.
    Thanks so much for this video!!

    ISFJ's are absolutely amazing. My mother had to deal with a lot of my personal problems (I'm an INFJ with terrible anxiety), and while she never really understood what anxiety really was, she would offer me comfort in the ways that she did know how to help me. My ISFJ mother also took care of me to the best of her ability after my father abandoned us due to alcoholism, and she would work overtime just to make sure I can dream. Seriously, you ISFJ's are some of the most loyal, powerful, and committed people. ISFJ's deserve more appreciation, because you make the world a safer place :).

    You know, for ISFJ to be the most common personality type, I don’t think I’ve ever found anyone who is as moved by the external as I am. I’ve never expressed a passionate reaction to something that’s seemingly unimportant without it being met with funny looks and misalignment. Other ppl just don’t feel as strongly about humans, art, subtlety, philosophies, comedy as I do. Other ppl don’t relate to the level of sensitivity that I feel in SUCH strong, intense ways. It's actually very common. I think about 16% of the U.S. population are ISFJ. I took the mbti about five years ago at junior college and got ISFJ. I was surprised. I remember thinking, "There's no way that's my personality type. I'm not popular! I don't have friends." I then proceeded to retake it several times. I thought for years that INFP was the closest fit. I have finally accepted that I am ISFJ. It only took 5 years.

    I was watching a video of a kid throwing a tantrum on a plane that lasted for 8 hours the other day and I felt really sorry for the mother having to put up with it and not being able to make him stop and then I scrolled down to the comments and every single one was so hostile and nasty towards the mother saying that she was a bad mother, that it's the parents fault the kid was like that, that the kid needed a good smack and so many other cruel things and I was taken aback at the lack of understanding and empathy towards her. I've just realised from watching this video that I felt the way I felt because of my ISFJ nature. It saddened me that so many people where just out to judge and be mean.

    I'm an ISFJ Male and also an Aquarius with Libra rising. This video was nice to see because it does represent me very well when I'm not depressed and under a low frequency. I grew up with not many friends so trying to keep things harmonious and looking out for the underdog is a result of that. I try to treat people the way I wasn't treated growing up, because I hated the feeling of being ostracized. t think being this way makes it harder to relate to people and in turn also makes me harder on myself. It's a blessing and a curse.

    • @SkySovereignn
      @SkySovereignn 8 лет назад +2

      Blessing or curse, It depends on the lessons of life you learned as of the moment. I view this now as a blessing for me for i'm see the benefits i have from others and use the weakness i have to turn it to my favor. For example I never talk or participate on a group activity at first because i like observing things first. I'll only act and speak when the time needs it. This is my way of becoming a man better than others. ISFJ male here, Gemini and year of the Dog.

I feel like its cause the fact that she gets impressions on things instantly but if she fails to voice them out of fear of intruding others wants, she will be quick to blame herself if things don’t end up well. They are the sweetest, most comforting and understanding people and I absolutely cherish them. They crack up at my “deep thoughts”. I bring them to see life in a new way and sometimes blow their minds. When I’m feeling upset about something I always go to my ISFJ peeps. They help calm me and keep me in perspective. My life would not be the same without my ISFJ pillars. 💗
    I only have to be on guard about the nervous pessimism that sometimes comes through and can affect me, but I’m already aware and understanding of that. I also have to be careful about burdening them too much. I told my mom, you would cut off your arm for me. She said, yes I would! I said, I have to watch out for you. 😱😂

    guys I'm infp and an isfj girl broke my fucking heart. She suggested that we go out for my birthday and she took me to this very romantic top of a hill from where you could see the sunset. I really really really liked her so I just said fuck it and confessed my love for her and to my surprise... SHE SAID SHE LIKED ME BACK. So she told that we should have a relationship but start off slow (which is fine by me if not better so I accepted)... Two hours after our date I texted her about stuff but she didn't reply(whilst replying to other friend and school groups I was in). I had a really bad feeling and intuitively knew where this was going but I couldn't admit it to myshelf so I stayed up all night wondering what else could have happened. The next day came along and I had received no message from her so I just said fuck it she is probably confused and tried to finish my homework with as much concentration as I had left.during the afternoon she called me... But instead of her normal heartwarmning apology I got a very very strict cold and absolute response to my questions : "i dont want a relationship anymore i got into a fight with my friend (a male esfp) yesterday after we left and i just lost all faith in people in general)". I was absolutely heartbroken! The next day came around and was very very shocked. I saw 20 people that we knew, but was more friends with her than me, mock me relentlessly and say things such as" i think rejection hurts "and "he is probably so sad right now" all this while laughing their faces out and staring at me in a pityfull way. I was deveastated so i stopped talking to the girl forever because this cost me a lot...
    I even went to a phychologist and a phychiatrist to help me cope with the pain she caused me without no reason at all while i thought she was my soulmate.....
    After all that she tried talking to me a few times just to get me to think of her even saying she wants to hang out again but then stoped all contact...
    Im once again great now after like 8 months have gone by
    But I just wanted to write this to remind people that isfj(and any personallity type for that matter can be evil and very hurt full if they are unhealthy enough)
    If you open up your hurt to some one just because they are the empathetic ones of the mbti (infp, enfp, infj, enfj, isfp, esfj, isfj) you might just end up like me... Hurtbroken and lonely....
    Judge hearts not types people!

    This is helping me see the real value of the ISFJ beyond the politically correct (not sure I am using the right phrasing here) sugary but not so useful portraits that do not penetrate into the psyche of the ISFJ. I actually feel like listening more to ISFJs now and asking for their opinion. Thank you!

    I'm sorry but I'm not sure that this video is entirely accurate. I don't mean to be rude. From everything I've read, 2:13 - 2:30 is quite the opposite. Most pages say ISFJs are very stuck to their own beliefs. 2:40 - 4:20 This is absolutely INFJ stuff right here. ISFJs are more about concrete facts and details whereas INFJs are the ones who have that '6th sense' because of their iNtuition. That's essentially what intuition is -- knowing without necessarily having concrete facts to back it up but still being right. INFJs are the ones who get general impressions about how things feel.
    Again, I'm not trying to be hostile, just to keep things I feel are important clear.

      Thanks, I was listening to the video and all the time thinking, isn't he's describing INFJ, why is the video titled ISF? I was about to start a research marathon for ISFJ vs. INFJ but glad I saw your comment. You get it. You are right. ISFJs lead by introverted sensing.Traditions, facts, and details are natural to them. Most likely, they will be aware that something is not going to work out well, not because of an unexplainable hunch like the INFJ, but from recollection of memory from a similar situation in the past. ISFJ memory from past events is usually accurate and they base their future decisions on that. INFJ figures out something will go bad without any concrete data to back up their claims. Nevertheless, both INFJ and ISFJ may find it difficult to argue with people who insist on a logical explanation; I think this is because of Fe, which both share as it is a conflict avoidance function

    I am a Clinical Psychologist with 30 years of experience dealing with people. I was branded a INFJ quite sometime ago. I never really accepted that evaluation because placing 'labels' on people puts them into a box. It limits their potentiality and personal growth. At worse, it can destroy a individual's self determination and freedom. However, the Myers Briggs Personally Test is interesting but somewhat incomplete. I have never encountered a 'classical' INFJ before. Why? Because certain characteristics of this personality type have many subgroups some of which overlap other MBTI personality types. That being said I will describe the characteristics of how a 'orthodox' INFJ thinks, behaves and responds in strict accordance with the MBTI Personalty Test. Be forewarned, I find some INFJ 'stereotypes' rather funny. And will approach such in a humorous fashion. INFJ's posess a wonderfully sense irony and will immediately recognize the silly 'stereotypes' others have attrubuted to them.....So let's start breaking some myths about the INFJ Personalty Type
    When a INFJ gives you the dreaded 'Death Stair' they are not attempting to understand you. They are wondering if you're carrying a gun. Killing INFJ's is a pleasurable experience. Why? Because everyone hates a smart ass.
    INFJ's frequently experience 'Sensory Overload' issues. They love Forests, Parks and Woodland areas to recharge their batteries. Why? Because trees don't talk! A squirrel cannot complain it has 'Daddy Issues'. Pine trees do not suffer from 'gender identity' problems. And I have never seen a bunny rabbit strung out on Crack Cocaine. Solitude is bliss.
    Never say to a INFJ, 'I do not understand', They will run away screaming or jump infront of a bus. No one understands them. INFJ's sometimes don't even understand themselves.
    INFJ's feel uncomfortable being around large groups of people. However, once you get them talking, they never shut up.
    Why do a INFJ 'Door Slam' people? Because it's called a Coping Mechanism. They dislike being emotionally hurt. There is nothing strange about this behavior. Some people become alcoholics others pill poppers. INFJ's will just run away and pretend you never existed.
    INFJ's have the psychic ability to absorb people's emotions. No. This is phenomen is called 'Transference'. If you continuously talk about your problems, a INFJ will unconsciously adopt some aspects of your emotional state. However, INFJ's posess strong identities which prevents them from going completely insane.
    INFJ's are the most honest, compassionate and sensative people on Earth. Not really. Mother Nature just screwed them up genetically. They're brains are hard wired to respond during crisis situation. A 'diehard' INFJ will instinctively sacrifice their life attempting to save yours. No questions asked. Why? I have no freaking idea. I didn't invent the rules. Ask God. I'm sure She knows.
    INFJ's think differently than others. Yes. They think outside the box. They live outside the box. They have never actually seen the box. What does it look like? Does it contain groceries?
    INFJ types are occasionally arrogant, cold towards others and aloof. This is actually true. Being omnipotent has its drawbacks. INFJ's have a difficult time sugar-coating the truth. Being overtly honest is their trademark. If they sense someone cannot handle the truth, they will lie to protect that person's emotions.
    INFJ's are stubborn yet will openly admit to errors in judgment or making mistakes.
    INFJ's think too deeply. They want to solve everyone's problems. They get frustrated when people ask for advice - then completely ignore their recommendations! They do not understand why everyone keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. Eventually, a INFJ will simply give up. The phrase 'People need to learn things the hard way' was invented by a INFJ. So was the 'unfriend' button on Facebook.
    INFJ's do not respect authority because they have developed their own Moral, Ethical, Spiritual and Cognative belief systems. Mature (older) INFJ's care very little about how people perceive them and less about the impressions they make upon others. INFJ's enjoy approval and acceptance (like everyone else) but infrequently compromise their princepals to simply fit in.
    Do not mistake a INFJ's confidence as egocentrismn. There is a difference.
    INFJ's are frequently interpreted as posessing a Narcissist Personalty Disorder. This stereotype is absolutely false. A Narcissist loves adoration and attention. The typical INFJ cares more about others than themselves, sometime to their own detriment.
    INFJ's dislike themselves. They feel alone within the world and misunderstood. Being a INFJ a curse. Consequently, a small minority INFJ's often experience psychological Depression, Alienation Issues and Avoident Behavior problems. The phrase 'You are your own worst enemy' accurately describes a INFJ's perception of themselves.
    The most admirable personality traits of the INFJ are (1) INFJ's are compassionate which makes them a easy targets for emotional exploitation and abuse. Never play 'Guilt Games' with a INFJ. They already persecute themselves (subconsciously) for being different. (2) They don't have the ability to forgive themselves for past mistakes, A INFJ's unforgiving 'Guilt Complex' is an integral part of their personality. INFJ's have occasionally been known to slowly kill themselves over time, believing they deserve such suffering. 'Hell on Earth' is their punishment and they willing accept it....sometimes. Not always. (3) Once you secure the trust of a INFJ, everything about them suddenly becomes clear. The stereotypes vanish. These are people you want within your life. They have incredible insight into human nature and will identify your weaknesses and lift you up from darkness. Seeing the world through a INFJ eyes is the greatest gift they can offer.
    It would be impossible to understand a MBTI typology without stating the negative traits of a specific personality group.
    The 'Dark Side' of a INFJ is rather frightening. Never test their 'Authenticity' or personal dignity. Do not play games with a INFJ. They have limitations like everyone else. A INFJ can determine your intentions or plans within minutes. Literally. This Hyperobservient behavior is quite unique. Avoid getting into heated arguments with a INFJ unless you are prepared to be intellectually, emotionally or psychologically castrated. They have cognitive resources almost beyond understanding. A vindictive INFJ will never stop until they destroy your life (this has nothing to do with physical murder). Such behavior is almost Psychopathic in nature (hence the concern INFJ's may be catorgized as possessing a Psychological Disorder rather than a Personality Dysfunction). Fortunately, INFJ's are not prone to violent behavior. They give up easily, This is where the 'Door Slam' or simply walking away from an argument comes from. Once they reveal their true inner nature, you will begin to understand why only 1% of the world's population are INFJ's. They are so dam charming.
    INFJ's dislike small talk, idle conversations, superficial people and hypocrites. Life is too short talking to such individuals (but they understand its occasionally necessary to be socially accepted)
    INFJ's are not spontaneous. They just pretend to be spontaneous. Their minds are always attempting to 'connect the dots....even when there are no dots!
    When the Zombie Apocalypse occurs, a INFJ will be eaten screaming, "I told you so... I told you so!"
    Imagine your on the Titanic. It's 1912. You see a Iceberg coming. Your jumping around and telling everyone the ship is about to sink. People just laugh and finish their Champagne. Welcome to the wonderful world of a INFJ.
    Avoid getting into deep conversations with a INFJ. They are walking encyclopedias. They will jump from topic to topic then back again to support a idea or theory. Male INFJ's are 'scattered brained' in the worst way possible. But there is method to such madness. The are searching for the correct answer to a specific problem. And 95% of the time they will discover it... or have a complete nervous breakdown trying.
    Occasionally, you will notice a INFJ acting mysteriously, doing unusual things or just behaving weird. Get used to this behavior. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. The INFJ is just going through a 'stage' or experimenting with something that interests them. Like building a Thermonuclear Bomb or discovering a cure for Herpes.
    Never tell a INFJ they have a 'Old Soul'. They are absolutely terrified of being reincarnated again. INFJ's are aware that neither Heaven or Hell wants them. Why? Because God doesn't need the extra competition on who should run Heaven (Him or a INFJ) and Satan can't deal with a INFJ pestering him for all eternity....that would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
    Aliens will never abduct a INFJ. There are some things too bizarre even for Extraterrestrials.
    INFJ's have a difficult time forming a thought or idea into words. Yes. Someday a INFJ will develop Telekinesis and scare the hell out of everyone. Stop laughing, it's going to happen.
    So next time you accidentally encounter a INFJ, break all COVID 'Social Distancing' issues and hug them. INFJ's are a endangered species. Literally. Whatever purpose they were created for has already been accomplished. There represent only 1% of 7.7 billion people on planet Earth according to MBTI statistics. In my opinion, this Myers Briggs Personality represents the noblest aspects of humanity....Intelligent, Wise, Caring, Virtuous, Observent, Altruistic and Protective. Dispight their faults (which everyone has, no one is perfect) INFJ's are genuine. You get exactly what you see meeting these people. They also have a excellent sense of humor (wink)

      +Maia We like to joke around a lot, but we also have a great amount of depth to our personality. We like to make up crazy plans (but we suck at executing them). All ENTP I know really enjoy music, including me. We're good at rational thinking and we can instantly point out flaws in many things. In conversation we may sometimes jump from subject to subject. We are very creative. However, we suck at planning and being organized.

    • @QCLagstone
      @QCLagstone 8 лет назад +1

      +Maia We also love to argue about things (anything really), which is why many of us are into politics. We are very indecisive when it comes to that though, as we love seeing new perspectives to things, there are so many perspectives that it's hard to know which ones are true. As we are only navigating through an unsurmountable sea of information.

      Also I struggle with these feelings my own. I don't know what my purpose is, I care a lot and at the same time I don't care at all. It's what I hate about myself. Like I'm trapped in this mind.
      Lot of ISFJ have low self esteem and/ or anxiety. Maybe he has too? Deep in our hearts we care and it makes us cry inside when people say we're not but because of my social anxiety I do have problems speaking my mind and what's bothering me. We also want to keep peace so we avoid conflicts but at the same time by remaining silent we can be seen as cold and mean etc.. (to me personally it's fear) When we're in conflict I freeze, I got blackouts in my mind or it's a loop of what I should/can say but it's just not comming out of my mouth

    My mum's an ISFJ, and she's lovely. I think it's one the most motherly type, but I'm a guy so I wouldn't wanna be like her. As an ESTP, I've dismissed her opinions and advice many times.

    I'm an ENTP and I think my Mom is an ISFJ and we dont get along. Theres no hate really, but it's probably a mix of complete misunderstanding and dismissal in both directions that causes so many problems.
    I feel sorry that she gets overwhelmed with life to the point where she has a hard time functioning without lists and plans and records, but I can appreciate the structure that brings, which I'm lacking. I have a hard time actually figuring out which of my ideas are worthwhile to pursue, and for the most part it leaves me quiet and observant.
    When I get upset at her high-strung nature, stubbornness, or seeming stupidity at what to me is obvious patterns in the flow of life that should be easy to predict and react to, she tends to make the problem worse by placating me with treats or compliments. I think I understand that it's an admission of misunderstanding, but it feels like I'm being treated like a dog who just stops bugging you when you finally give it a treat.
    She seems like she dismisses everything not directly relating to her life, and makes huge jumps into spirituality and the supernatural for the things she cant explain or doesnt consider important enough to devote energy into.
    A good example is that she has a cat. She didn't want the cat, but she saw how much my sister wanted one and agreed to it. She cares for it, but often forgets to feed it, and uses her toys and bed as storage areas for various things sometimes (the cat sleeps wherever). She is absolutely convinced that the cat is chasing ghosts when it runs around the house after nothing, completely ignoring the fact that the cat has no accessible toys, companions, and space to burn off energy, so shes probably just really restless, but since theres no obvious hard facts pointing to that, she jumps to ghosts and then moves on with her life.

    To all ISFJ, please voice your opinion or struggles. (Saying this as an ENFJ. We want to help💙 and we can feel if you dont feel well, or you are keeping things to yourself, because you are scared to speak up. No need to be afraid and quiet, even if thats in your comfort zone.

    I can read people easily and say if they're telling the thruth, if they're nervous, scared, etc. It's not like a sixth sense, it's more like analysis. My biggest problem is: I can't confront these people who are lying and say "well, you're lying". So I keep that information to myself and start to look for proof or facts, so I can show the other person that it is wrong and there's no arguing. I know that if I say something without proof will start a discussion and I hate discussions.
