Dig the look of this one. I wasn't crazy about the handle pattern at first, but it's grown on me. I think all their DuraLock knives turned out pretty great, overall. I own the Iridium and that one brings joy for sure. I want the Monitor, too. The murdered-out look is pretty sweet on that one. I guess to get a flipper to work with a bar lock was a bit of a challenge for Kershaw, but they seem to have nailed it. It's kind of easy to fail the 'detent' on a bar lock though, isn't it? Since there isn't anything to hold the blade in place like a detent ball would and having to 'break' it. Agree about the clip. Really nice implementation of a deep-carry. Great stuff! Thanks for the look at it, JB!
I agree about frn on most knives, but that pattern/texture change looks good and makes it less cheapie. Nice deep carry ambi piece, which I appreciate, though I do appreciate more than just a flipper. If it's going to be only one deployment, my preference is studs.
As a lefty I am rejoicing 🎉 this is a really nice knife it checks all the boxes for me I just wish it had different steel suffering from some serious D2 fatigue!!! Thanks for sharing JB
With enough texturing, the GFN is fine for me. I do not use a knife for anything that would require more than GFN. If it keeps the price down, I’m ok with it. Thanks JB. Great review.
i have this knife, my daily carry for 6 months, $60 dollar knife. Fantastic knife. i love the way the pocket clip keeps the knife in my pocket and doesn't snag on things. the only thing about the knife i could wish were different is that country of origin
Its nice to see a good knife and it not be all metal. Did it have a stiff action to begin with, that worked itself out? (IE: Lock stick) Thanks for the video
This is my first Kershaw, first axis lock and first light folding knife. I miss the thumb stud and I always finding the liner lock when closing it then finding noting is happening then re position my finger to manipulate the axis lock. I don't hate that it is a axis lock but i hate it sometimes because there is no thumb stud. I find it difficult to open it if it is halfway open because there is no thumb stud. I can grab the side on the top of the blade like where a thumb stub would placed only if my fingers are not wet or soapy. I found out that when my fingers are slippery and wasn't able to fully deploy the blade that I need to close it again and flip the flipper harder to open because I can't flip in the usual place where the studs would be located because i can't grab it cbecause it will just slip. If my hands are dry I can still flip it with my thumb to fully open it even though there is no thumb stud. It is well made and very light that I am carrying always in my pocket like it is empty because all my previous edc folding knife are all twice the weight of the Kershaw Covalent like 150 grams and above. this i can wear it all day long and forget I am carrying an edc folding knife. The difficulty of deploying the blade when my hands are wet or slippery is where i need to do something about but I love this Covalent. If only they can put a thumb stud this will make it less worrisome to deploy when it is wet.
You bet your booty! I like the Covalent more too! I am in the minority that does not love coated aluminum handles. The size of this one is excellent too. Thanks for the video JB.
I like it, it looks like a dog gone nice knife. Nice action on it. I like the blade shape and the thinness of it, looks really slice and dicey. Thanks for showing it off. See you on the next one. Have a great day.
Have your (or anyone here) used the SOG Terminus XR? If so, how does the action compare? I’m on a quest to pick up as many non-Benchmade cross bar lock knives from different manufactures as possible… just makes me happy. So far I have SOG, Bear & Son, & Houge
Totally! I had a Trident circa 2012 ish, and the lock was trash. I could break it by pushing the spine with my thumb while holding the knife in my hand. Scared me away from them for a long time. I am interested in the PowerLock MT
@KeithKacanek I'm actually looking at getting this to replace my sog terminus xr. Don't know what it is exactly but I kinda hate it, mainly the pocket clip screw will not stay tight no matter what kind of loctite I use, action is not that great and for whatever reason the s35vn blade that mine has I've been very unpleased with the edge retention and sharpening ability I've come to prefer D2. Overall very disappointed with the SOG for over $100 (s35vn &carbon fiber model)
@@kylemaples6461I had lost an older model (S35VN & CF/G10) with the sharp jimping and grotesque pocket clip, and the updated version is definitely an improvement, albeit not perfect. Only reason I replaced it was because it was $70 on Amazon ($66 right now!). I was so impressed with it a while ago go, and then with this Covalent. But the Kershaw Bel Air has ruined just about all other knives I own in terms of fidgetiness and action. Better than the Deka
Nice knife… from what I can see it’s hard for me to like this one more than the Iridium because that one is so attractive. Pushing the blade out when retracting the crossbar duralock-does that make it easier to swing the blade out without using anything other than some wrist english? Thanks JB
I have the Iridium. Out of the box, 3 of the 4 body screws were loose enough I could feel and hear the scales moving ever so slightly. I’ve also noticed there is some up/down blade play in the lock bar unless I get a good solid thumb flip open. If I flip the blade out just releasing the DuraLock, there is even more play. I’m hoping it works itself out with use, but there isn’t much open area in the liner for the bar to engage more. Time will tell I guess. I also wish I went with the Covalent. I’m more of a flipper, but the look of the Iridium is way nicer.
The flaw is in the plastic handle. And the lock is not 100% solid, you may fell some up and down movement. Other than that, it's perfect size, handle shape, blade shape, it's light the right amount, and the clip is superbly good. Action too is awesome, even though I may prefer a Thumb stud. Whatever. I use it for a lot of things and it's way better than the Bugout.
Yep I love this one also! I bought two others from Bryan of the three new releases at the ShotShow! I then of course bought the Iridium from your sale! Love all of them. The honeycomb on the Covalent is cool on the grips.

Excellent looking nice. Good to know you like it for sure. They're stepping up. Thanks
Yeah...definitely liking it! Thanks KC
I got the Heist (phosphour bronze washers). I like it alot. It did come gritty so I did have to open it up and cleaned it and it was perfect.
Right on G-Man! Thanks for watching!
You are spot on on the clip. That is one of the first things i'd look at on a knife.

Thanks for checking it out
I think they're good knives for the money. I have the Heist and really like it. Have a good one bro!
Very good to hear Az!!
Slicey blade & no thumb studs to get in the way of the cutting path. Like the pocket clip! Not bad!
Thanks for checking it out Shane
Iridium came very sharp and very smooth out of the box. I’m loving mine. The Covalent looks like it might be a better hard use option however.
Glad to hear it!!!
Yes. As a lefty this is great
For sure Timbo!
I really like how that pocket clip is it a good looking knife overall great video man 👍

Pretty darn smooth right out of the box!
