- Alright, the long awaited update of the 75 gallon sumpless reef tank. I'm sorry its not the best video quality.
Dealing with a crazy aptasia outbreak right now. Hopefully the berghia nudibranchs will successfully breed and take care of them.
Color wise, things are doing great.
Get some pickling lime add water to make a paste thin enough to use syringe and inject them.turn flow off first. Has always worked great for me.
I have a 20 gallon currently just getting back into the hobby wanting to let this one grow out for a year or so and then upgrade to a sumpless 75 and turn the 20 into a seahorse tank, beautiful aquarium man
Thanks Cody. I've seen so many nice nano tanks. Itching to get one going! 😉
The one issue you see without an overflow tank is all the salt creep working its way up the equipment.
Yes. Part of the reason for the salt creep were the microbubbles from the Aquamaxx hob 1.5 skimmer. It definitely works as a skimmer, but based on my experience with microbubbles and reading through the forums regarding the issue, it seems that there is a design flaw with the skimmer. Anyways, for me, a sump is the way to go moving forward. An all in one might be okay as well.
Good looking tank..
Thanks a lot Semisuccessful Reefer. That was one of the names I tried before finally settling on this youtube name.
Looks great! I recently started to get in to SPS, but I am a little disappointed because they just don’t florescence like LPS.
I agree. 👍 I love watching the lps tank under actinics and blues. I prefer viewing the sps tank under balanced lighting. I think most of the sticks with more florescing properties are going to be your tenuises. Ie. Homewrecker, tiera del fuego. There are non tenuises that fluoresce but more often then not lps will be brighter in my experience. Maybe I'd change my mind if I ever got a homewrecker. 😂
Nice collection 👍 ill be watchin...subd👍👍
Thanks Billy! 😁 Thanks to you, I use Reef Roids the right way! 😂 Cheers!!
Try using a file fish to take care of your aptasia
Thanks Scott! 😁 I chose the berghias cause I thought they'd be safest for the coral and will hopefully eradicate them. 🤞 Depending on how things go I may have to get a file fish. 👍
I had struggled with aiptasia with my old tank, I used aiptasia away once in a while, they will come back after a while but helped to keep it under the control. I heard file fish and peppermint shrimp will eat aiptasia. My peppermint shrimp had no interest though, I hear good about file fish.
That will probably be the next step if the berghias dont end up working. I am seeing a dent in the aptasia population so 🤞. 😁
Buy aquacultured peppermints from liveaquaria... I bought 2, one for each of my tanks and they destroyed it all in one week in both tanks. Get 3 for a 75g
My peppermint shrimp destroyed my aptasia. I love them now. I’ve seen 0 aptasia since adding the shrimp.
Awesome......wish my tank could look close....I still struggling with trying to grow gsp....how long do you run your lighting?
Hi Kern. I run 2 bulbs of ati blue plus for 9 hours a day. 2 bulbs of ati coral plus for 3 hours. The LED light bar runs for 13 hours a day, mainly for my viewing pleasure. What kind of lights do you run? I've been working on a lighting video I am going to hopefully have done soon, but in my experience t5 lighting is the best for coral health. If you cant grow any coral, have you checked your other parameters?
@@TheReeferYT waow......all I have is a maxspect razor 70w-15000k
I don’t think I’d wait on those Nudis: I am having the same problem and I have been keeping them under control with boiling water from the microwave. I bought a 10 ml syringe from Walmart and I have been shooting the boiling water at them and then sucking them into the syringe. There’s no easy way. You could try a copper band butterfly but they like to nip at a cans alsoUnless you get lucky. Mine did eat the app Tasia though
Thanks Alen. 😀 I received the same advice last night and I'm going to start attacking this problem head on. 👍
What’s your water change and routine?
Man this tank looks amazing, where you located for the Acans your selling??
Thanks Nat! The acans are in Penticton, BC Canada. 🇨🇦
Crap long drive from New Jersey lol 😂
Get a tripod bro! The video is very shaky
You got me bro. 😥 I hope it didnt give you a headache or motion sickness. I'm looking into a gimbal. 👍
The Reefer no worries brother all your videos are great and your one of my favorite channels, nothing but positivity word ya brother sorry if it came off any other way! Please don’t stop your great content and commentary. 👍
What lights do you use?
Hi D Say. 🙋♂️ On this tank, I used a 4 bulb t5 fixture with 2 ati blue plus and 2 ati coral plus. There was also a supplemental led light bar, similar to the light bars sold by orphek, blue and uv.
So how you dose with no sump??
Thanks for the question Jordan. I manually dose ESV B-ionic right now. I bought a magnetic vertex dosing tube holder but havent got a doser for this system yet. 👍
