Great job explaining to us. I watch another channel don’t understand why some people have such a hard time with pigs. love you channel great looking pigs !!
Another great video and info. I agree we passed on several feeders due to their condition. Being very small for their age and behind on weight gain. That just results in a longer growing time and extra feed. Looked at several good feeders that were left over show pigs that didn’t make the cut. But at $175-$250 a feeder its impossible to even break even.
I’m starting to see people give up because of poor quality hogs available. I don’t even consider show pigs because of price and definitely nothing that’s been in the program and shown because of the steroid feed program. It’s getting tough to find quality hogs
Gotta feed question. I've been putting pig feed, corn, soy, allstock, sweet feed, some extra minerals & just started putting in 20% cattle cubes All in a 50 gallon drum. Then I soak it all until it's a mash. This is what I am and have been feeding different pigs for around 2 years. I just wanted to see if you had any thoughts on this. I was raising the smaller fad pigs but then got some sense and am now raising Lg Black & Berkshire and will get some Duroc mixed in soon. It hasn't seemed to hurt any of the pigs and it does get them too grow but maybe not as fast as usual BUT these large breeds are new to me. I only do one barrel at a time so nothing is getting nasty, moldy or really fermenting. I'm going to send this to Chris too from HTHW but wanted to know your thoughts. Thank you
