Hi everyone! If we haven't yet met, my name is Laura Shigihara and I'm the Plants vs. Zombies composer ^__^/ I know some of you have been asking if I contributed any music to Plants vs. Zombies 2... To answer your question: Yes. A lot of my music from the first PvZ was remixed for the sequel; I also composed the music you hear during the Egypt level. So I thought it would be nice to do a piano version of that... I hope you enjoy ^__^/

Nguyễn Trọng Tấn Minh you should reconsider your music taste. PS and WW had more than decent soundtrack. Also not to mention the fact that the newer worlds like NMT, LC, BWB and JM have all better soundtrack than AE.

I could hear you play all day! Love the funk/fast blues bits, most of all.
This is the best piece I've heard in the F major key. This is so calm, eerie, and nostalgic all at the same time. I never knew I would appreciate this key in such a way. Such a simple piece with simple melodies but with immense impact and touch to the heart. I will try my best to learn this piece on my own piano so I can enjoy it to the fullest as possible. I very much appreciate this as it touches me very closely not only giving me childhood nostalgia but musical connection as well. I produce music as a hobby and I might want to play around with the melodies with this piece. Do you mind if I use them in a potential remix of some sort or something else? Thanks.

Thank-you Kelvin! Yeah I'm always surprised how different things can sound on the piano. I usually compose the piano part before arranging it on the computer, so it's fun to see how it evolves with the various parts!

Pewdiepie has talent in humor for some people and gaming in others. Playing piano is hard and I can play it but know one cares.

@AzureWolf168 OH I still feel the same way. There are a ton of internet famous people out there with no actual talent other than acting like they have severe brain damage in front of a camera. Pewdiepie, KSI, Logan Paul, and many more.

I have a question. Did you happen to work on some of the other original themes for PvZ 2, even ones that didn't make it? I was looking back and found this video: Plants vs. Zombies 2: Crazy Dave Transmission 2 .
Although distorted, the music playing does seem to be a completely different Pirate Seas theme, and on top of that, sounds a lot like your work. Have any words on this?
Thank-you very much, I'm really glad you enjoy my piano videos :) And about the Crazy Dave Transmission: Whoa, that is so weird... Yes, I did make the music in that video you linked! But I had no idea they had used it for anything. You see, I left EA/PopCap before the game was released, so it's still a bit of a mystery to me what got used and what didn't, hehe. I'm impressed you were able to recognize that I made it.

Laura you gave us some really wonderful moments with your music in the Pop Cap games. I play all of them that I bought to this day, and Plants vs. Zombies was my favorite. And why not? I think Shigi's songs have a large part on why PvZ got so loved. And I guess I do not need to explain myself. :) As the song played on piano gives the explanation without telling a word. :) Simply amazing. (Remember myself going through thr first PvZ, and listening to the song at the end ... actually replayed 3-4 times till I realized that the song's name and all was there just because I wanted to hear it again :D )

We love your songs/compositions/covers a lot (I consider Jump and your version of Kingyo Hanabi some of the best songs I've ever heard), but we miss interacting with you... can't you bring back Shigi Tea Time or something like that? You could talk about your life or the VGM world, what new thigns are happening and what you are working with! It would be very cool :)

EA turned PvZ from dark to light-hearted, undermining everything you did with the original soundtrack

@@mparagames It's more of underlying dread to boosting the quirkyness a bit more.

@@mparagames You see, PvZ soundtrack has certain aspects that are present in every single theme, a mix between dread, calm, and uncertainty are the things the OST makes you feel, just hear any random track of the original game and you'll get what I mean. (except the ending theme but that's understandable)
That was the style and emotion that Laura Shigihara made for the game, and so they all share those characteristics.
But, as we can see with PvZ2 soundtrack, its nothing like that, aside from Ancient Egypt theme, the only one that shares these common characteristics, as its the only theme composed by her, every other theme of the game feels wrong, feels like its not a part of PvZ, they feel cool, groovy, radical, blood-pumping, etc.
And that's certainly NOT how Plants vs Zombies should feel like.
I'm not saying the OST of this game is bad, absolutely not, what I'm saying is that they don't feel like Plants vs Zombies.

This is simply amazing. The most complicated song I can play is a piano version of the Beatles "Let it Be" and at life half normal speed. Seriously, you have so much talent and I always look forward to your compositions. ^_^
