Wow. Every single video or encounter seen with Don Rickles, from his 20’s all the way through to his 90’s no matter who is in the room, from someone on the street to news anchors to actors to the greatest of entertainers, no one can hold a candle to Don. He is the king of comedy, the quickest & the most sharpest ever, known to man.
There's a chance that the mix of genes that created Don Rickles will form into the exact same code to produce another Don Rickles, but it probably won't happen for like billions of years, and he might have a different name. But even if the genetic code is the same, whatever environment that new Don Rickles would be in would shape his behaviour and thinking so he probably wouldn't be exactly the same.
Don Rickles was born in 1926 so I doubt you've seen video footage of him in his 20s as that would've been the 40s-50s and to my knowledge there's no footage of him before the 60s.
Now 65 , can still remember exactly where I was and the friends I was with the night Johnny signed off. What I most remember was how surreal it felt because he had been on the nightly TV in my family's house from the beginning of TV in the 1950's. The early programs were black and white, but the programming is still -- in my opinion, unmatched. In those early black and white programming days, the live TV was spontaneous, exciting and full of laugher. Laughter is what this young 65 year old viewer misses most from Johnny's signing off.
Don was in good form here as usual. I didn't think he would have many funny jabs at a young, sweet Katie, but some how he managed. I think Katie would have been disappointed if she wasn't insulted. To get insulted by Rickles is an honor .
Since this interview was live, it was 8:30AM in NYC, but it was 5:30AM in Burbank!! Can't think of a better way to get Don cranky than to roll him him out of bed early to talk about Carson. Notice the contractual requirement to talk to Don is you have to say where he will be appearing next. The only thing missing was saying Joe Scandori and Frank Sinatra.
I was waiting for Don to do his famous " one for you" pretending to write down on a piece of paper. If someone can interview the King, it makes them ready to confront anyone.
wow she handled him very well and she was quick too, this was very playful, its always so one-sided when Don was talking to anyone but Katie had some good ones 😂😂
Imagine don having same conversation with a female tv host/anchor/reporter today. immediate sexual harassment suit. She took it like a pro. A good sport.
Katie was a real sport here and definitely didn't back down with the jabs.... Just about no one gets the better of Don, but even if you get a few good ones in, consider it a win. If you want to see Don a tad off-guard, watch the Tonight Show clip with him and Michael Landon. Landon was perfectly prepared to neutralize him on occasion without it turning into a pissing contest. Shows you there are a lot of ways to skin a cat.
Yeah sure. What riots? With 50 shades of grey sadomasochism is more popular with women than ever. If they "rioted" (ya know, all 100 of them, if even that) they'd be the biggest, lamest hypocrits ever. They'd be protesting something that they actually masturbate to.
No offense to Don Rickles, but Obama is doing a pretty damn good job of making himself look like a jackass!!! That is one category in which Obama has plenty of experience!!!
Who is that interviewer? You don't treat Rickles like a normal interview. You say one word then you shut upand let him roll. Usually over you. She thought that smiling and acting like a sweet 12 year old would upstage Rickles. No way! Rickles could make the pope feel stupid. Good job Don...go get those ignorant thinking elitist liberals. She thought she was so much better than Rickles and he could sence it.
T Carroll you might not read this, but why are you like this? Why is liberal a bad word? And Katie did great with Rickles, I love when interviewers quip with Don because he is funnier for it when he responds.
Because it's a bs word that hasn't applied to anyone since the mid-19tg century. Libs are socialists, at best, and have ruined this country. They've sunk the unsinkable ship...and there aren't any lifeboats after SS America goes under. Yeh, we're still afloat but sinking fast...in every way possible and getting worse every week.
Never liked that woman.....and this typlifies why---she's amateurish, can't think on her feet, and Don destroys her. She has a penchant for asking questions that she can jump on someone, and Don lets her have it. Good one, Don, old friend! Katie, go home---your act is WAY painful to watch.
Katie Couric has a podcast now. Nobody cares since she’s the new cloying standard for taking a number 2. I hear the egos of both her and Bono are are trying to create the number 3.
For those of you who don't know, George Shearing was a blind jazz musician.
He is such a legend! And she is the cutest interviewer.. my heart!!
Now,,,,, Couric is just an OLD BROAD. GIVE HER A COOKIE AND SHE WILL GO AWAY. LOL

he brought a lot of laughter in this world. there will never be another Rickles. i already miss him dearly.

I've been following him since the sixties, and I never get tired of the guy, so funny.

Don has to be the most quick-witted comedian of all time.
Next to Robin Williams, of course. #RIP
@@jbFromNYC I will take rickles anytime over Williams. No contest.
Rickles did master Williams on the comic relief
No kidding, like a bolt of lightning. Zap and he’s got you.
I know like a bolt of lightning.
Imagine Don saying to Robin Roberts, "a wild broad."
She's a snoozer.
Robin wouldn’t say “ i might like that”, so it wouldn’t happen.
I've always been in awe of his seamless transitions from sarcasm to sincerity.
I will never get tired of this. Really miss him.
Host did a great job, she set up Don for great lines and let him shine with his brilliance.
He only said good night and she was already laughing 😂

After seeing "Dinner with Don" on AARP RUclips channel I started watching everything on him, truly "Mr. Warmth" a kind man with a razor wit!!
Katie’s laugh is so cute at :40. I love the sound of a woman laughing with no filter. “I might like that” that line could be taken so many ways. HA!
I can only think of one.
"Anyways, I must say Katy, NBC will be used as a nightlight for my wife and I, now that everything is off." LOL
i laughed histericaly from the begining to the end of the interview. the interviewer was a good sport to don.
Thankyou Mr Warmth for getting us thru this Pandemic 😉 Please have a couple of Vodkas up there for us 🥃

Sweet she’s not sweet her new book shows that
I wish the KING was still alive this man was an icon
Love you Don!! :) He is funnier than anyone you could ever name!!! :)
"Oh, a wild broad"
His wit was quicker than anybody on the planet.
You don't know that ; But you can hope ..........Classic
Oh, Katie, Katie, never, NEVER try to trade barbs with Don Rickles!!
man she's so adorable, such a good sport
Nothing adorable about a woman with a boy haircut
@@justinjustinjustin10 says a guy named justin
She's very easy on the eyes, indeed.
Great interview. Well set up.
1992--my goodness, where did the time go!?
Dons style is so perfect for this kind of show/interview. You never see anyone act like him, serious or not
Rickles, Lewis, Sinatra, Martin, Carson. RIP ❤️🙏🏽

Ha! You're correct.
One of the best funny man. He will be missed.
Love it! Thanks for posting!
He fucking destroyed her, and god knows she's a worthy target.
To be insulted by him was an honor.
I really miss Rickles- No one ever like him
Well, if you're not counting Jack E. Leonard, maybe.
He was great , not Jacky Leonard but a fine one.
Don Rickles will have God laughing in the great beyond.
Katie held herself pretty well.
that woman's beautiful
Even with Matt Lauer
He cut her a little slack.
Katie you hold a spot in my heart....and in my pants too !
I liked her. She really stuck with it! She deserves a cookie!🍪
The king!!!
He and Robin Williams are my favorites
Seinfeld was just coming on the air at NBC. Little did they know
I was waiting for Don to do his famous " one for you" pretending to write down on a piece of paper. If someone can interview the King, it makes them ready to confront anyone.
He always did that with Carson, “Nebraska leading the Jew”. 😂
Yikes I haven't heard that since I was 11
he's 65 here! I guess saying that he's 45 is a joke?
dont be a hockey puck dumbell...
Went right past her.
I miss him all the time.
That's one lovely delicious looking reporter luv the way she said I might like to be slapped by the Don. Lol
LOVE HIM! There is nobody funnier!
3:02. It's a news room

She was out of her element but she hung in there. Props to Katie.

Lmao
She's cute
She couldn't say that today! Sadly...
Him either!
Katie likes a little "50 Shades" can you imagine if anyone said that today :) riots in the streets from the pink hat brigade!

Just toooo goos
He doesn't have to say a word and I laugh my ass off. The same as Jerry Lewis.
Oh, a wild broad! 😆 🤣 😂
Good
She is good at the fake laugh.
Katie was so pretty back then.
Jay Leno ruined the Tonight Show... look at what it is now. He started this downward trend and this is Johnny's biggest mistake.

Katie Couric's rectal movie best rectal movie.
Don was not 45 yo back in 92!!
it was a joke, you hockey puck
Anyway Ugh 😂
