That beach kiss is a masterpiece, the acting was phenomenal, the script was on point, the camera angle was perfect and the score was exquisite. Best scene in the entire series for me!
@@shydewalters10 Yes exactly in the books I can’t exactly remember the line because it has been a while since I read them but she explains that it was a new kind of hunger that she hasn’t felt before
This couple has all the best tropes. Rivals to lovers, friends to lovers, fake dating, he fell first but she fell harder, star-crossed lovers, hurt-comfort, shared trauma, opposites attract, bed sharing started cuz of nightmares, and probably even more. And then just them as a couple in general and how well they compliment each other? How they are SO good for each other? They are so well written, they have EVERYTHING. I love them so much lol And when I first finished reading the books, I was absolutely SHOCKED there were even people who were 'team Gale'. It made me really confused. To me, it seemed like there wasn't even a competition so how could there be TEAMS? You know?
Yeah, I don’t see how you can make teams out of the very obvious pairing of Katniss and Peeta. Not that the romance is the focus, but their relationship is just so fleshed out and natural.
“I feel that thing again. The thing I only felt once before. In the cave last year, when I was trying to get Haymitch to send us food. I kissed Peeta about a thousand times during those Games and after. But there was only one kiss that made me feel something stir deep inside. Only one that made me want more. But my head wound started bleeding and he made me lie down. This time, there is nothing but us to interrupt us. And after a few attempts, Peeta gives up on talking. The sensation inside me grows warmer and spreads out from my chest, down through my body, out along my arms and legs, to the tips of my being. Instead of satisfying me, the kisses have the opposite effect, of making my need greater. I thought I was something of an expert on hunger, but this is an entirely new kind.”
Every fan of Peeta yells in unison with Katniss "I do. I need you." Okay so I did not do that when I was at the Cinema. But I do when I watch my Blu-ray. Is it possible Josh Hutcherson was too good for the role? Five minutes later after contemplating that rhetorical question. No, he was perfect. :)
Mary-Grace Miller That's why I love watching films on my Blu-ray when the family leaves. Hehe! I have the house all to myself and can yell what ever I want at the screen. LOL!
I love the lines in mockingjay when it says: what I need is not Gale's fire, I have plenty fire myself. What I need is the promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. And only Peeta can give me that. If you think Peeta and Katniss weren't meant to be together, think about that quote.
I think that Peeta saw Gale as her family bc in the books the Capitol made a lie that he was her cousin since they thought it would be weird that a dude is her bsf
@@gracebutler9886 Peeta knew he wasn’t her cousin, In Mocking Jay Peeta and Gale have a conversation of who Kaitness loves more and it be weird if Peeta thought Gale was his cousin
It's the best love scene in years - and the end touch with Johanna's "Alright, lovebirds" was a touch of genius. The score is simply too perfect. The location logical and purposeful. The gentleness of the loving kiss was just enough. The bashful eyes. And we know when Peeta gave Katniss the three photo locket - it was the greatest gift she'd ever received in her life - it shows in her face. I'm not into love scenes - but this one I thought (more than most) we could all relate to.
I think Gale loved the strong, fighter Katniss. Peeta loved Katniss for everything she was, including her weaknesses. Glade was similar to her, Peeta was like Prim. Gale never really saw Katniss for who she was. I always thought Peeta was better for her. He understood her. Just my opinion though. I do like Gale as a person, but I think Peeta was stronger than people really gave him credit for
+Rebecca Woodward If not for the games, Peeta might not conjure enough courage to talk to Katniss and she might not get to know him and choose to be with Gale. I hope guys can see that the love of your life can pass you by if you don't try to get to know her. On top of that, the way Peeta show his love for Katniss is gentle and respectful. A lot of girls love that.
+Rebecca Woodward Vulnerability and sincerity is not weakness. I loathe that people slam Peeta because he is not some macho person waltzing around as if he is the greatest thing since slice bread. (Pun not intended by the way) I see Katniss and Peeta as an embodiment of true love for two particular reasons. They appreciate each other. Second is they listen to one another. I vouch for respect, compassion, and self-preservation for yourself and your partner as the thread that knits an everlasting relationship. I see this evidently in the transition each character goes through in this series. That's really why I am Team Everlark. :)
When Peeta said that he didn't have anyone else he cared about except Katniss, I realized his family life was not the best. His family would be sad and mourn his death but they won't be devastated or destroyed. Of course, the only person who would absolutely be devastated if Peeta died is Katniss. Since the very beginning, whether Katniss realized it or not, Peeta has always been the light and hope of her life. The bread scene was so powerful that it was what instilled Katniss in the first place that the belief for hope and rebirth does exist. And despite being polar opposites, Katniss and Peeta were made for each other. In my perspective, Katniss represented the Hawk, which is the sign of courage and basically war; Peeta represented as the Dove, which is the sign of serenity and peace.
Okay but am I the only one grief stricken at the look on Peeta’s face when he says nobody needs him? He truly believes it. He’s convinced he’s worth nothing to anybody.
@@thesilvershining It hurts to watch but it was necessary. Let's not forget Suzanne Collins lowkey took the opportunity to call out all the fiction writers and their fans who slammed healthy and happy relationships as "safe and dull". She's making a statment in of itself that for all the diamonds in the rough who are caring but got relegated to the back corner in romance stories. Mainly because the superficial never took into account a respectful and compassionate relationsip is worthy of being front and center. Granted this is not the first nor will it be the last time this type of storyline has occurred. However it's not often displayed in mainstream. Suzanne's vessel through Katniss declaring "I do. I need you" is the comeback towards everyone whoever deemed the sincere and sweet characters as boring and unworthy to the romantic counterpart in the love triangles are actually the truest forms of love. And it is not explored in fiction nearly enough. Bravo to Ms.Collins!!!!!
The smile when he said that was insincere and self-deprecating but it shifted to slight confusion when he saw katniss' expression, like why is she silent? why is she not laughing at me?
The way he just lets her kiss him to begin with and then when he thinks she’s pulling away gently pulls her back by her neck like he isn’t ready for it to end yet. Good lord, this was one of the best kisses I’ve ever seen in any movie.
If you read the books you’re probs just as sad as me that they didn’t include the day they just hung out on the roof of the training centre and he played with her hair and they ordered food and played a game and no one interrupted them and then they snuck into Katniss’ room and just fell asleep😭🥰 just one day to be left alone from morning to evening.
yes! when the film came out i was a bit upset they didn’t include that scene. especially since that moment i realize katniss developed feelings more than ordinary towards peeta. it was beautiful. after they slept together the whole night, they were reluctant to let go of each other. ah, i need to read the book again!
Please. I was so upset they didn't include that scene. And also the scene where Katniss went to hug Peeta after she had a nightmare but no one came to check on her. It was the night on the train when he was analyzing the tapes sent by Effie from previous Hunger Games. There are quite a few things from the Catching Fire book that I wished they should've included in the movie, like how Peeta literally pushed them to train after the announcement of the Quarter Quell, and encouraged them to analyze the potential Victors to be picked and such. I can imagine how people would see him more than the soft bread boy he is, if they include those parts.
Just because Peeta was gentle does not mean he was weak. He could strong arm heavy weights. He just did not broadcast his strength. It also takes a strong person to remain gentle after all he went through.
Let's also not forget that fight with Cato when Katniss was getting strangled Peeta threw Cato around like a rag doll. Or when he killed Brutus worried sick about Katniss
yeah and in thr mocking jay, gale is lowkey telling to peeta that she chose peeta and not him but peeta well he's not well those time so he don't understand hahaha
I was never worried about the love triangle between gale, peeta, and katniss. Peeta was likeable from the first mention of him in the book. I fell for him right off the bat and rooted for them together because he is so good at heart. I will always think of them as my favorite couple in a book series because what they had was so real. Yes they were forced into the arenas and had to fake a romance, but that romance grew, and grew into a love like no other.
Honestly, Peeta won me over from the very beginning. I knew he was a special kid, and she discovers this too. She needs his softness in her life, they complete each other,
Lets admit that we were watching this in 2013 and we will watch it forever because it an amazing scene and their chemistry is so amazing, no one can get over it
If anybody ever attempted to make me feel guilty. All that they say would go in one ear and out the other. As there is not a single legitimate reason for anyone to feel guilty in watching this film. Let alone this scene. It's very touching. :)
I don't know if someone experimented the same, but for me Gale wasn't never in the picture. For me Peeta would always end up with Katniss. Anyway, when I read the books, I wasn't that worried about the love triangle, I was worried about the revolution, yeaaah!! But, of course, Peeta won my heart very early. Also, this is the best movie kiss I've seen in YEEAAARS
+Nina Tabbal to me Gale seemed more like an excuse. He was that familiar, safe thing, that thing that didn't scare the hell out of her, but it also didn't make her heart beat faster. My main focus was on the survival of my favorite characters, which only 3 of them made it in the end, but Peeta's well-being most of all.
@Maria N The kiss was genuine. Katniss actually starts to develop real feelings for Peeta in the first hunger games, but it was still something of an act. In the first hunger games, there was one kiss between her and Peeta that stirred emotions inside and made her want something more. Then her feelings really developed in catching fire because of all the time they spend together. The scene that really gives it away on how she truly feels is when Peeta almost died after hitting the forcefield because you can see how shaken and upset she was. On the beach, she realizes that she's the only one who would be damaged beyond repair if Peeta died and when she kisses him, she gets those stirring of emotions again and a hunger over takes her.
I think Peeta's physical strength was an external symbol of his inner, emotional strength. He has always been one of the strongest characters. In the first book Peeta said he didn't want to lose himself in the games. However, I always thought that Katniss was the one to accomplish that until I later realized that Katniss was always driven by fear and anger. Katniss had to lose herself to find herself. Peeta was always true to he was; He always remained compassionate, selfless and forgiving even in the most dire of circumstances and that is true strength.
@Ana Fernández In catching FIre it's actually called, "I need you", but yes it's by James Newton Howard. "Primrose" is from Mockingjay Part 2 and has the same piece in it but starts differently.
I love this scene so much because in the book (since we're in Katniss' head) this is the first kiss where she realises she's actually falling for Peeta. She talks about how the next morning she has trouble making eye contact with him and how no kiss had ever made her feel this way. This was the first kiss (since their kisses in the cave in book 1) that leaves her "wanting more". SO cute. Everlark endgame! I love Josh's acting here.
In the books, Peeta's line was "You're my whole life" when he was explaining to Katniss how crucial it is that she survive. I'm sad they didn't use it in the movie
I think that’s the whole point though... she needs to Gale to survive, but once it’s all over she needs Peeta to truly live. It’s because it’s not only about survival with him that she chooses him.
@@anitabouscatie6752 it is, they even say it in the book, when Gale.says to Peeta that she will choose the one withou't whom she can't Survive, Not without whom she can Not live... She notices it herself and when she Said "True" after peeta asks if she loves him, she even thinks to herself; because I need you to survive, or something like that
Gale was her trusted friend and hunting partner, she did need him to survive in her past… but Peeta was her true love and source of comfort and joy, she needed him to **live** in a post-war world. After all she’d been through, in the end survival wasn’t enough anymore, she needed to know that “life could be good again”… and only Peeta, her dandelion in the spring, could give her that. It’s honestly really beautiful and touching.

😭😭 Why is Peeta so fricking sweet!?!? The fact that he got a necklace with her family, literally just to comfort her and remind her why she has to stay alive, is so endearing. 😭😭😭
@@thesilvershining Is more of a knight in shinning armour then the majority of characters/people who are actual knights in both fiction and history. Peeta should be pictured right by the term chivalry.
2021 and still wishing I could go back in time. This is honestly one of the best love stories portrayed in my opinion. Like man, it really makes you think about yourself and what you should expect from someone in real life, at least I think so. The kiss here feels so satisfying and the build up to it was worth it. The music, the shot, their acting, it makes the perfect scene between Peeta and Katniss where they show they truly love each other after what they have gone through and are still going through.
Same here! Now it's 2023 and I've just finished watching all of the films and I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't get over their love story. I love every bit of their scenes and I couldn't figure out why, now I know that it's because Peeta is such a beautiful character. Throughout the whole series I never disliked him even one bit. Katniss and Peeta was made for each other and I'm so happy for them 💚🧡
see, *this* is why their relationship makes my heart melt. collins never pushed any hard make out sessions between katniss and peeta, so when they do share a romantic scene, it’s pure.
I bought the 31st December the 1st and 2and book. In February I will buy the 3rd and the new one. They are great, but some scenes in the movies are better in my opinion.
@@PhlilipeAlves they are truly worth it! For me its not necessarily better, its just that an amazing cast was chosen so they depict the characters perfectly
He has so much grace in this scene, his love is so unconditional regardless if its returned, so selfless of him, he's giving her a future but she doesn't see one w/o him and I just 😭❤
the moment he puts his hands around her neck to kiss her back always gets me. I repeat that part about a hundred time every time I watch it. This is probably the most beautifully made on-screen kiss in cinema history
Just caught Catching fire on the tv, and i had to come back to this scene. God, i was so young when i read the books but they stayed with me, even after all this time. Katniss and Peeta are two of the best characters Ive ever encountered, and Peeta’s gentle manner of handling Katniss, his quiet love for her, his pacifist nature, even after all he’s forced to endure makes him one of my favorite characters ever. Jennifer and Josh did a wonderful job bringing them to life. Glad i’ve gotten the chance to revisit this incredible series.
9 years later and I still come back to this video every week. I think about this scene so often. The way Peeta looks, the way he really thinks no one needs him. The way Katniss kisses him and the way he pulls her back to him with his hands. The way he looks afterwards. This scene is one of the main reasons I watch this film, and Finnick of course haha. But the camera angle, the scenery and the content of the scene gets me every single time. Perfect scene of a perfect movie, even after years. This is my roman empire
I agree in every capacity. But for me it wasn’t just the design of the sequence. Which is I’m not trying to disregard the crafted brilliance of it. Yet for me it always begins with what the author or screenwriter intends to convey printed on the page. What Suzanne Collins wrote was soulful. What I find to be a rarity in the world of the romance genre but she achieved in her story ( which is identified as a dystopian and tragedy) was to convey in every sense these two characters are in fact soulmates because they cared for the other’s well-being long before romantic stirrings entered the picture. It’s deep because the story is so much more then sensual attraction. It is an depth connection of their philosophy on life. “Every life is precious”.
Ptitepeluche05- there is a true tenderness as well as a burning desire within this kiss and embrace. In film or tv I usually only see one or the other. So this speaks volumes on how special this display of affection was for these characters. Not to mention why it’s audience finds it so memorable. :).
if you hear closely at the music in the background they use the same music in Mockingjay Part 2 when Peeta and Katniss return back to District 12. Just a sad composition 😭😭😭
And in Mockingjay Part 1 where Katniss had a dream that she woke up screaming from a nightmare and Peeta barged in like he did in Catching Fire to comfort Katniss back to sleep, only for her to wake up for real and Prim was there to comfort her in Peeta’s place 😭😭😭
The hunger games 100 more movies keep the legacy going and Jennifer Lawrence need to keep the legacy alive on RUclipsPG Jennifer Lawrence likes men and women Jennifer Lawrence i love Michael Taylor Brown 100,000 likes and the Magic Time Machine
This scene is so damn amazing. Katniss and Peeta are actually perfection. This scene shows how much she truly cares for him, no acting for the cameras, no worrying about the Capitol, just pure love, even if it's just for a moment.
This is my favorite scene from the whole series! The warmth, the chemistry, the kiss, the soundtrack… omg my heart ❤ I come here all the time to relive this moment! Iconic. Masterpiece.
This scene just makes my heart flutter I get butterflies every time. I feel like they captured this moment so perfectly and this is the moment in time where they both realize that their love for each other isn’t just an act they do really love each other. Then peeta gets captured by the capital and everything gets screwed up
I love this scene because when they kiss, in the book she says that kiss was real, not staged and not for the cameras, but because that's what she wanted. In the book it feels like it lasts longer.
This is the first genuine show of love Katniss has had for Peeta. The very moment she realized it’s bot just for show or for survival. This is real love she feels for him and she can’t lose it.
This was the first true kiss. It wasn't to survive the games. It wasn't to please Snow. She loved him and this kiss showed it. "Not bad cakeboss, not bad." Honest trailers anyone? lol
This is the scene that really defined the win for Peeta. Just his whole personality about keeping the peace he was what Katniss needed to balance her out. He loved her in a pure and selfless way. This is why I was team Peeta the whole way. How could you be team Gale after this speech? He loved her and recognized what she loved and what she cared about in the end. He was willing to sacrifice himself for her love is about sacrifice and compromise. Obviously never to this degree lol. This is just a book.
I love how the music in this scene contrasts with the rest of the score, it gives the effect that this moment between them, despite them being trapped by the Capitol and despite them talking about who's going to die, is still theirs and it's just about their love. For a moment, they're the only two people in the world. The conversation, at heart, isn't really deciding who to sacrifice (they both already knew, Katniss just hadn't come to terms with it yet), it's a conversation about their love for one another, and the music makes the audience forget about the games and their doomed future, and for a moment it's just them.
Elliora Editz I am aware of that, but people still pick favorites...and for this movie the choices are either Gale or Peeta. In my opinion Peeta is better, therefore, GO TEAM PEETA!!!! xD
Briceida Najera well, i actually liked gale more, because he was her best friend,....and they Chose such an INCREDIBLY UGLY acter for peeta....but in this Scene he Looks alright. And i dont understand why the heck katniss stil kisses peeta if she knows that she will only break his heart again...? and it is so much like twilight; Katniss: Bella ( she is the mainfigure, has a main Problem, has a best friend, who is in love with her, but she dosent love him, and someone she actually loves, but dosent know it yet, thats different, and the best friend is jealous and sad about it. Gale: Jacob, ( best friend of main figure, in love with her, she does care for him, but not as love, and he does not REALLY like Peeta,....and he also kisses her like Jacob did. Peeta: Edward (
Twilight Amy Okay I don't wat to start a fight but never - I'll say it again - NEVER compare Twilight and The Hunger Games again...or there will be a cannon for another dead tribute soon....and this is going to be me because I did suicide because of a Death-Facepalm...and before I die by the Death-Facepalm I will kill someone else because you said Josh Hutcherson is ugly (tell that to Robert Pattinson, because there I would at least be true :/) #truestory
You'd think peeta's medallion would have katniss' photo in there until you realize, he's actually wearing katiniss' heart and not his - then proceeds to give the medallion to her 🥺💔
This goes to show how INCREDIBLE the actors are. They are LIVING the characters. The boy language and facial expressions are to a T, that i can tell a huge in the difference dynamic Peta and Katnis has in their second hunger games. The first one, affection was about survival. But Catching fire!?! Their affection is no longer for the cameras. (Which is ironic because its a movie. THEY DID SO GOOD!)
What I love a bout this series is that the relationships are so raw and real. They're complicated and people get hurt and confused and angry but when you really love someone you know it doesn't matter if you end up together or not, you'll always care about them. It's a series about a revolution, yes, but also about real friendship and love. True love is efforless, is soft and peaceful, you don't have to do anything to love someon and you don't have to do anything for them to love you. It just happens and it brings you peace.

It feels like the most realistic version of what would've happend after Peeta came back to district 12. It's so crazy im not the only one either ;)
The best explanation I have ever heard came from someone else I can’t remember who, but they said Gale wanted to love Katniss. Peeta wants Katniss to be loved. Gale only cared about having her and would constantly complain and try to make Katniss feel guilty about the games even when she said she did it partially to survive. Peeta never held it against her even if meant he wouldn’t be loved, wanted her to live, wanted her to be happy, even with Gale
Thank you for saying this. This captures the essance of why Katniss desired to save Peeta and later pursue a full fledged relationship with him. Peeta is not possessive of her. He respects her agency. He even understood that Katniss's first and truest love would be her sister Primrose. Initially any authentic relationship was always going to be out of reach since Katniss spent her life dedicated to Prim. Peeta observed her from afar and saw from a distance how much the Everdeen sisters adored one another. He was touched by her devotion to her sibling as well as her independent spirit. When he saw her hunched over in the rain outside his family's bakery it's easy to figure out how much his heart broke for her since she was always such a resiliant person. To see her in such despair gripped him to the core. The world is an even more cruel place to force someone who perservered through such adversity to feel such a morbid undertones. You know he was detecting her suicidal thoughts just by looking at her. And he knew how badly this would emotionally damage Prim if Katniss had died in the freezing rain in a mud pile. Peeta's determination to see get up out of that horrid weather and return home to her beloved sister stirs him into action. Any ideal baked goods are out of the question as it will only result in tragedy for him and Katniss. (Afterall stealing in district 12 is punishable by death) Instead a lesser offence causing damaged bread will do just so. Even if it means enraging his mother and the Everdeen family will have scorched food for dinner. But at least the Everdeen sisters and their mother will have something for a meal and they'll be back togther in the evening. Peeta takes his beating from his mom and her verbal dispargements like a class act because seeing the girl he admires back on her feet heading home to her dear sister is what he lives for. That makes him as much for hero in the first portion of book/film as much as when Katniss volunteered from Prim at the reaping. He's as dedicated to her wellbeing as Katniss is to Prim's.
They could make a whole movie based on this kiss and I would watch it everyday

Their first real kiss. I love the way Peeta considers Gale her family. That's how you know Peeta truly loves Katniss ❤
I think that Peeta saw Gale as her family bc in the books the Capitol made a lie that he was her cousin since they thought it would be weird that a dude is her bsf

***** beautifully put :)
I do like Gale as a person, but I think Peeta was stronger than people really gave him credit for
You, sir, think exactly like me
+Rebecca Woodward If not for the games, Peeta might not conjure enough courage to talk to Katniss and she might not get to know him and choose to be with Gale.
(Pun not intended by the way)
I see Katniss and Peeta as an embodiment of true love for two particular reasons. They appreciate each other. Second is they listen to one another. I vouch for respect, compassion, and self-preservation for yourself and your partner as the thread that knits an everlasting relationship. I see this evidently in the transition each character goes through in this series. That's really why I am Team Everlark. :)
+llgla I believe this goes for all people. And in any type of relationship. :)
Same.

Even katniss wall broke down with that one
He does believe it. He’s everyone’s silver medal, nobody really needs him. He’s wrong though, Katniss needs him more than he knows 🥺
His family was killed
The way he just lets her kiss him to begin with and then when he thinks she’s pulling away gently pulls her back by her neck like he isn’t ready for it to end yet. Good lord, this was one of the best kisses I’ve ever seen in any movie.
LITERALLY 🥹
My thoughts exactly!!! The way he responds to her kiss is so stirring.
I say that all the time. Its my favorite scene!
@@qila-tion I think that scene was there, the scene where katniss wakes up from a nightmare in the train then peeta immediately comes for her
ITS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE SCENE 😭
Just because Peeta was gentle does not mean he was weak. He could strong arm heavy weights. He just did not broadcast his strength. It also takes a strong person to remain gentle after all he went through.
Let's also not forget that fight with Cato when Katniss was getting strangled Peeta threw Cato around like a rag doll. Or when he killed Brutus worried sick about Katniss
Peeta and Katniss, that was like one of the most beautiful, romantic kiss I have ever seen

Smejky #SENPAI not better, both are good people, but Peeta is mine and Katniss' type. I feel the need to protect the men I love ahaha

YES. THANK YOU.

This was the first kiss (since their kisses in the cave in book 1) that leaves her "wanting more".

@@anitabouscatie6752 it is, they even say it in the book, when Gale.says to Peeta that she will choose the one withou't whom she can't Survive, Not without whom she can Not live...
The hands are the best part 😊 the way he caresses her face while kissing her 😮
I agree in every capacity.
And at some point it plays during their time in the cave in the first Hunger Games. It’s like their theme.

I love that the song that is playing softly in the background is titled "Primrose" 😍😭💕

I LOVE the Hunger Games and how Katniss just showed Peeta that she had sort of fallen for him was so sweet!
Absolutely agree 😭

This is my favorite scene in all of the 5 movies.
Mine too. I keep coming back to watch it. The way Peeta responds to her kiss just melts me.

It's 2020 and all im doing in Quarantine is re-watching and re-reading the Hunger Games and trying not to cry through it all
Samara Hughes literally me :’)
Same as me! I'm also re-reading the books and hyping over this series again
@@gisellegastellou1071 I've finished the books and movies and im now reading fan fictions to satisfy myself since I've finished the story.
@@samarahughes6333 OMG same as me haha, I'm currently jumping from books to clips to fanfiction. So crazy I'm not the only one! I totally understand the feeling of wanting more of the story, I love those pre-epilogue fics
@@gisellegastellou1071 yes btw i found a really really good one. Search cogdill on Wattpad and it should be the first story to pop up. Its called A Fresh Start-After Mockingjay(Before the Epilogue).
