Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.
I love how they shot it so that it looks like Katniss is aiming at Snow through the monitor, very foreshadowing.

Katniss: "Yolo."

1st movie everyone tells Katniss: “Don’t go to the cornucopia.”
Katniss: Goes to cornucopia and grabs backpack and runs. Also in the feast does the same and nearly dies.
2nd movie Finnick tells Katniss: “Get away from that tree!”
Katniss: Stays near tree and fires arrow at lightning bolt.
I think that this Arena is one of the most badass ones. With the spinning cornocopia, the huge bloodbath, and more. It's fucking epic.
@MOTH not really. This was a memory edition arena, so it was special and more brutal than normal one. The only one we know which is worse is the edition where haymitch won (the second memory edition, 50th games) where all the food, water, and bloom were poisoned
Vianney Gonzalez as much as I loved this movie I was really disappointed by the cornucopia bloodbath as most of it happened off-screen (as opposed to the first movie).
The Krieg Not only that but there were 48 tributes instead of 24
@Meme Feast Then you shouldn't be on RUclips. RUclips is meant for people 13 years old or older
Altraxz saying I’m old for my age definitely means you are too young.
"Sir, we've lost power."
This quote shows how Snow has lost control over the situation of Katniss and the Rebellion, plain and simple. The silence and Sutherland's acting makes this scene incredible.
And she did it again in Mockingjay Ch 1 when the dam was blown up. He really needs to invest in better security. :D
Or it just means they lost power to the arena and there systems

Truly a powerful and impacting scene. I mean I remember watching this in the theater and feeling breathless. I was mesmerized by it and always will be. I agree
People hated on Jennifer? Why she did an amazing job portraying katniss and this is coming from a book reader.
Trent boyardie I full heartedly agree.
Trent boyardie yes it’s not really the actresses fault. The character is just sort of bland and obnoxious on its own (that’s not always a bad thing but tbh it deserves some criticism)

I love that image of the light breaking through the hole she created. Kind of symbolizes hope.
It looks really good in the movie but in the books when the forcefield breaks it’s said that there are fireworks in the real sky, meaning the Capitol is having a party which is just genius
my favorite scene in the whole franchise. seeing everything on fire, katniss's hair fanning out as the hover picks her up, her empty eyes, the orchestra, oh my god.

As I was reading this part in the book, when the hovercraft's claw takes Katniss, I thought the Capitol thought she was dead. I thought they would announce a victor. . . .
why does she go up I was always confused
+Squirman Hermon because they rescue her and bring her to district 13. You're welcome.
Fred Guevara they didn't really know. When the arena blew up, they lost camera connections. They couldn't see anything. The Capitol didn't know what happened. I read the book, and the movie is actually really similar to it in Catching Fire. No one was announced as the victor of the 75th Hunger Games. The rebellion started so there was no victory tour or anything. Just the rebellion.
@@ellatipaldos71 VERY late to this. The rebellion was the victory tour.

The look on Snow’s face when he realizes, seconds too late, what’s about to happen.
Absolutely priceless.

I love that, as the arena collapses, she just stares, impossibly alive, just staring up at the sky, like she's determiend for it to be the last thing she'll ever see ever again.
I wonder what Johanna, Peeta, Enobaria felt when all the bits of the arena started crumbling
Enobaria was with Finnick in the book, which is why Katniss aimed her bow at him.
Enobaria: girl wtf is this

I think what I like best about this scene, is this is the first time we really see fear on Snow's face. Like it's the very first time he was caught off guard and really had an "oh shit" moment with Katniss

@@iamsultana The book isn't exactly subtle with that message, everyone gets that that's the point. Neither are the movies. There are other parts of them that resonate with people, they don't have to be sophisticated.

One of the best endings to a trilogy movie series ever. It was flawless.
but this is the second movie
best endings *in* a trilogy movie series
“KATNISS, *GET AWAY FROM THAT TREE!* “
“Nah.”
Can we all just agree Catching Fire was the best of the hunger games movie by a wide margin.
They shouldn't have divided the 3rd book in two.
@@asuna932True, but you have to understand if it means the director, the actors, and producers, etc will make more money, that's what they will do.
“Katniss get away from the tree”
Katniss: yall hear sumn?
Dr. Gaul - “Anyone who sees us lose control of this arena, it might as well be sounding a horn to the Districts to revolt.”
65 years later from the 10th annual Hunger Games, her fear, and now Snow’s fear in this scene, is conclusive.
At 1:28 it’s a very powerful scene especially when one of the game makers say sir we lost power indicating not only did they loose power for electricity but they also lost power over the districts and the rebels
Snow: Did she just do that?
And this is why Katniss is awesome. She isn't bloodthirsty, she knows who the real enemy is, and she's clever enough to figure out how to stop it.
I remember getting so many chills seeing her being lifted like that.
Has there ever been a shot in cinema history with the camera showing a character being lifted like that before?
It’s incredible.
It's funny how president Snow looks as Katniss destroys the arena
its so weird how the ''sky'' opens up and see the outside. its like a sense of relief
1:38 when you get a new highlighter
0:51 Man, Sutherland's acting. We never see him vulnerable, but here, Katniss is staring him down through a notched arrow, and though there's no discernable emotion on his face, we can tell he's taken aback and possibly concerned.
This is one of the best sequels, period! Aside from being darker and more serious, Catching Fire did what its predecessor did, and heavily improved on it!
This was the double feature I will never forget. Seeing this moment in the theatre was insane.
I laughed so hard at the look on Snows face his reaction was perfect and hilarious. Fear, disbelief, and shock all over his face. The best part was you can also tell in Snows face that he’s secretly enraged that he has all this power and he just got beat by a teenage girl on live television.
I just love her peaceful hidden weak smile while watching massive destruction in the arena by her arrow
Looks like she decided that her death must have a price even Snow made their lives didn't worth one
Seeing this in theaters was life changing. Amazing scene.
I saw it in theaters and it scared the heck out of me lol. But I loved it. I watched it about a week ago and this scene is just so epic. The arena crumbling and falling down around Katniss and real sunlight shining through. Plus the music, it's so powerful.

When the claw picks Katniss up, I'm just playing R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" in my head. It's even funnier cause her arms are flailing out. Lol
I honestly wonder what was the original plan by the rebel tributes? Like were they planning on destroying the arena too? Or was the game master going to do something? So curious
On the 3rd day they were going to break in no matter what. That's why the chopper was ready so quickly.
Also if I’m not mistaken certain tributes like Beetee were reaped intentionally to help with the rebellion
JTdeluxe isn’t that why plutarch gave snow the idea of reaping from the existing pool of tributes?
@@yuhyuh_th775 nope. Plutarch had to convince snow he was on hi team. So put katniss in the games. But that also was part of the plan, je knew katniss could start a rebelion in those conditions just like in the 74 hg
In the book, it was Beetee who told Katniss to shoot that arrow to the magnetic field. Katniss hat no Idea about the plan or what an impact her action would have at that point. She was manipulated by Beetee to do so.
One thing I love about this clip is seeing the inner structure of the arena. I’ve always been so curious about how the arenas were built.
