My first street bike and like you said a maintenance free machine. Never gave me any problems running up the road day after day. Also, my first bad wreck was on that bike. My 21st birthday out drinking with my fellow riders, put her into a cinderblock entrance gate at 75 mph. Nothing left but a pile of scrap, RIP my beloved 650. On the plus side I did learn my lesson about two-wheel drinking and driving at an early age.
I had the 82 Seca 650 in silver with blue and white trim. I found it for sale in the crate in 1989 from the Yamaha warehouse. So, it was actually new when I got, and under warranty even though it was 1989. Such an excellent bike.
Great presentation. Its nice to hear someone talk about a motorcycle with an intent to sell it that doesn’t make one want to bop them in the mouth.
@@aughanure1 starter chain and clutch 25USD off Ebay. But before you do that, it's a Hyvo chain. They are ALL noisy. It's a Hyvo thing it doesn't mean it's worn out. If concerned, take it out and measure it. I'll bet it's in spec.
I owned a 83 maxim 650 in 1987 ..sold that one in 1989 for 3500 ..and am looking for one in awesome stock condition low miles ..but can't find any that are in good enough condition for my tastes.

I had one, super dependable. Drove it for a year non stop. Very quick and handled good.
just love this bike, the chrome and sound and the looks. After 38 years now...still cool
I was 5 at the time but this bike if i can find it in Holland, i'm sure going to buy one!
What’s the price on this bike these days?

Had an 82 seca 550 and 82 seca 750 probably best motors Yamaha produced. Fast as hell.
It's nice, but I like the 82 Seca a lot more. Love the flat seat and the massive headlight on the Seca.
in the middle of restoring a 83 seca but that massive headlight really sets it off bur the starter chain is a bit noisy $$$€€€

Did you say 16,800 for that 81 650 Maxim.? I bought the 81 Maxum in 1981 for $1,800. Brand new.
Those stock pipes are in really nice condition. I'd by them if someone wanted to put on an 4-1

I believe you would benefit from a microphone I can barely hear what you are saying. I do appreciate your video. Beautiful bike.
