Banff Springs is certainly a beautiful place; however, there are many other locations in Canada that are just as beautiful as Banff, in fact some would say that we Canadians have some locations that are straight up better than Banff as far as beautiful locations go. I noticed you are going to Jasper a 4 hour drive north up t9 the glacier. That’s a beautiful place as well. The water is a particularly striking blue colour. The awesome shade of blue/green that our water is here is no coincidence. The water is that colour due to sediments frozen into glacier waters that are at least 20,000 years old.
The striking blue coloured waters in the mountains are unique to Canada and only that colour because that indicates that the water is directly from glacier melt. When you drink straight from the river or streams here (and the water is clean enough that you can do just that) you will know it’s good to drink if it’s that amaźing blue colour indicating that it’s glacier melt and that it’s ice cold. There aren’t too many places in the world where you can safely drink right from the stream, but you can in Canada! The closer the stream is to the mountain, the more pure, safe and uncontaminated the water will be.
The hotels here aren’t cheap, that’s for sure! That being said if you do stay in one of our overpriced yet particularly breathtaking rooms, you will receive an experience like no other in the world. I am not saying that it’s worth paying that much money for a room here, but if you do then I can guarantee you will never forget the experience. There is snow year round in the mountains and walking million year old glaciers is in of itself a jaw dropping experience. The sheer beauty of it all will make this one for your bucket list.
